Chapter 12 - Ant queen

Upon returning to the surface Erin heads further into the forest. After finding a good area woth lots of cover and far enough away from the city he places his ant queen down thats easily the length of his arm and as wide as his torso.

"Now Snow, I want you to live in this area. You and your babies are only to attack humans that try and climb into your nest. I want you to focus on mining minerals and resources for me, I'll be in touch in a few days to see how you are going." Erin says to Snow. Erin heads back into town, as soon as Erin leaves Snow immediately starts digging a large hole in a few minutes, eventually making a small room underneath a tree using the tree roots as structual supports and defence, she then covers up the hole preparing to lay eggs.

Erin returns to the city, heading straight to his new workshop looking at all of the resources he had collected, various dragon materials and piles of iron ore. He gets to work melting down the iron ore into ingots, while he waits he pulls out the book he got in the dungeon hoping to read it. It is easy to read since its just in Dwarf language, the book is a skill book for the B Grade analysis skill. A skill that will allow him to determine the effects of items.

As night hits he has a mountain of iron ore and a better understanding of the skill book infront of him, he expects that it should only take a few more hours to fully grasp it. He heads back home after locking up the workshop.

Once home he finishes reading the book, before heading to bed.

In the morning Erin is woken up by a knock at his door, getting up and dressed as fast as he can he answers the door swiftly.

At the door is the guild Master, "We have a quest we need you for, may I come in?"

Erin invites him in and takes a seat on his couch. "So what quest is it?" Erin asks.

"Well its about the nearby dungeon, a party went in yesterday and found no monsters and practically no fight marks. We need you to find the reason." The guild Master explains.

"Oh... sorry that would have been me, i was in there yesterday searching for a particular S Rank monster. Sadly I had to go all the way down to the 16th floor to find it so i killed everything on the way there." Erin explains.

With a shocked look on his face, the guild Master picks up his jaw and says "Wait... the 16th floor? No one has beaten the guardian dragon on the 15th floor before, can i ask you questions on how you beat the dragon?"

"Sure! But I don't think it will help much. The first time I barely beat it using physical strength by lifting it from the ground and pinning it the the ground and pummelling it with punches. The second time I utilised fire magic along with light magic to evade and deal damage from a distance. That about does it." Erin explains to the guild Master.

"Well that makes sense why the monsters are out hiding. Hopefully it returns to normal soon. Ill be in contact about other quests." The guild Master says before heading off again.

Once he leaves Erin sighs with relief before heading out to check on his Ant queen. Upon arriving he sees a small hole with a large ant in it about the same size as the queen. These ants are still too young to be full size.

Erin grabs some food out of his bag, jerky and other fresh fruit he brought from home and placed it at the entrance of the nest before leaving to go work in his workshop, hoping to make some gear out of the dragon materials he got as well as F Rank magic crystals.

Arriving at his small workshop he starts up all the equipment, using his fire magic to speed up the process.

Spending hours on end experimenting on the dragon materials and magic crystals, eventually he made a large shield covered in dragon scales and reinforced with iron and dragon bones, a F Rank magic crystal embedded in the shield.

Using his enchanting skill he quickly enchants the shield with various enchantments.

He looks at the shield intently before seeing a peice of paper form infront of him covered in writing, looking at the paper it reads;

[No Name] Shield - Unique (S Rank)

- Reduces damage taken by the weilder by 50%

- Increases magic damage by 50%

- weilder is immune to all status conditions

- Reduces damage taken by dragons by 25%

- Increases Health by 1000

- Unbreakable

Erin looks at his masterpiece and decides to call it Abyss Dragon Shield after the dragon he killed to make the shield. Erin stores everything away in his bracelt and heads out to the guild since he needs to meet his party.

Upon arriving at the guild his party members are all waiting for him, Min racing to him grappling him in a hug upon seeing him.

"Is everything okay?" Erin asks as he gently prys Min off of him.

"We are just so proud that you have advanced to the level of guild recognition. We have a quest that should be pretty easy for you, there is a dungeon called the great beast sanctuary. Inside is full of powerful monsters but each of them drop high quality resources merchants and craftsmen will pay a pretty coin for." Ike says walking up to him.

"We can do it but ill take a back seat for you all to get some levels, ive already reached level 130 so i have no need right now to get more but ill help if you get stuck." Erin says.

Everyone looked at him with shock even the guild staff members "You're not even 12 years old and your level is on par with the guild Master?" Ike exclaims filled with shock, Min fainting upon hearing it.

The sound of laughing can be heard throughout the guild as the guild Master walks down the stairs "Haha... so you have reached a similar level to me, you will be a force to be wreckoned with. I want to challenge you to a duel Erin!" The guild Master yells out.
