Throughout the summer break, Izayoi trained alongside Hinata.
Each day, he'd first confirm Ino Yamanaka's whereabouts, then use the Transformation Technique to pose as her and invite Hinata out. Together, they'd head to the abandoned training ground, alternating between tree-climbing practice and taijutsu spars.
Hinata, basking in newfound friendship and confidence, transformed remarkably over the break. Her strength grew, but more striking was the shift in her demeanor.
Hiashi Hyuga was the first to notice his eldest daughter's change. When he learned she was practicing water-walking, he realized her outings weren't mere playdates.
Izayoi, too, sensed they were being watched. Instead of concealing their activities, he decided to test Hiashi's stance.
One day, he made an excuse for Hinata to observe his water-walking. He also showcased his Shadow Clone Technique, low-level Wind Release, and, during a spar, thoroughly dominated her in taijutsu.
The next day, he transformed into Ino again and went to the Hyuga compound to fetch Hinata.
When she emerged, Izayoi knew Hiashi's position.
The clan head had tacitly approved their training together.
Izayoi's background held no secrets from the ninja clans. A civilian orphan from a ninja family, not even through his first year's three semesters, he'd mastered tree-climbing and water-walking—skills the academy didn't teach—along with Shadow Clone Technique and basic Wind Release.
Such talent and chakra reserves marked him as a prodigy of his era.
Training with such a genius spurred Hinata's motivation, evident in her diligent water-walking practice at home and her evolving confidence and presence.
Though disappointed in his eldest daughter, Hiashi hadn't yet recognized Hanabi's potential, so he hadn't shifted focus to her. Seeing Hinata transform through a single friendship, he felt only satisfaction.
As for interfering romantically, Hiashi had no such inclination. First, they were too young—likely just friends. Second, in his eyes, Izayoi and Hinata had no future.
The Hyuga's Byakugan would never be allowed to leave the clan.
To Hiashi, Izayoi was merely a tool to spur Hinata's growth. He'd monitor their relationship, stepping in if either showed deeper feelings to impart the harsh reality.
Only someone as exceptional as the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, could bridge that gap.
Neither Izayoi nor Hinata knew this.
Relieved that Hiashi didn't intervene, Izayoi taught Hinata the Three Basic Techniques and chakra control methods while sparring to claim her red-tier Princess of the Byakugan entry.
The break proved fruitful for both.
Hinata mastered tree-climbing and water-walking and learned the Three Basic Techniques. Her chakra reserves, however, were too low for Shadow Clone Technique.
Her acupoint strikes also improved dramatically.
Izayoi's talent entries included Medical Genius. His mother, a medical ninja, had left scrolls on basic medical ninjutsu, which he'd long since mastered.
To claim the red entry, Izayoi went easy on Hinata for the first few days, giving her time to adjust. After that, he fought seriously, pummeling her without mercy.
After each bout, he'd heal her injuries.
Unlike Neji Hyuga, who harbored resentment but was restrained by Hiashi's presence, Izayoi held nothing back, showing no trace of chivalry.
Beat her, then patch her up.
Hinata's combat experience skyrocketed from the constant thrashing. Her strikes grew decisive, injecting chakra into Izayoi's body without hesitation.
Accustomed to post-fight healing, she'd never again be the overly kind Hinata of the original story, too soft to harm her younger sister and losing to Hanabi, five years her junior.
This stark transformation cemented Hiashi's approval of their "secret meetings."
Though Izayoi didn't claim the Princess of the Byakugan entry, his own growth was significant. Through sparring, he'd covertly learned the Hyuga's acupoint strikes.
After gauging Hiashi's stance, Izayoi, under the guise of guidance, had Hinata sneak out a scroll on human pressure points and acupoint techniques.
He'd mastered the anatomy and the method of injecting chakra to disrupt it. While Eight Trigrams Palms held no appeal, sealing an enemy's chakra flow intrigued him—it could be a game-changer in battle.
Though the red entry eluded him, Izayoi gained two others from Hinata.
The first was a blue-tier Chakra Control, which he already possessed.
A chime rang in his mind: "Ding! You've obtained the talent entry [Chakra Control (Blue)]. It overlaps with your existing entry. Fuse or decompose?"
He chose fusion.
The fused Chakra Control remained blue, not advancing to purple, but Izayoi felt a noticeable improvement in his precision.
That moment clarified why Sakura Haruno, in just three years, surpassed Hinata, who'd trained Gentle Fist since childhood, and Shizune, mentored by Tsunade.
Like the Otsutsuki Bloodline, where the Hyuga paled against the moon's branch, blue and purple Chakra Control were worlds apart. Even fusing two blue entries couldn't reach purple.
Yet Sakura's purple-tier Chakra Control let her master advanced medical ninjutsu, the Senju's chakra burst, and S-rank techniques like Yin Seal and Strength of a Hundred in three years.
The second entry was a purple-tier Kekkei Genkai: Byakugan.
But Kekkei Genkai was distinct from Princess of the Byakugan. Without his own Byakugan entry, it would've merely granted him the dojutsu, not Hinata's purity level.
Izayoi chose to decompose it.
Fusing it might enhance his Byakugan's purity, but awakening the Tenseigan was impossible.
Like two blue Chakra Control entries failing to reach purple, the Otsutsuki's Tenseigan required sacrificing an entire branch family's Byakugan. The ultimate Giant Tenseigan likely incorporated main branch eyes, too.
With their purer bloodline, the moon Otsutsuki's Byakugan outstripped the Hyuga's.
Fusing entries to evolve the Tenseigan would require an unknown number—too wasteful when Izayoi didn't need marginal purity gains.
Decomposing the Kekkei Genkai: Byakugan (Purple) yielded over a thousand points, updating his panel:
[Host: Izayoi]
[Talent Entries: Otsutsuki Bloodline (Red), Super Kage Potential (Gold), Kekkei Genkai: Byakugan (Purple), All-Attribute Constitution (Purple), Medical Genius (Blue)「+」, Chakra Control (Blue)「+」]
[Points: 1791]
Plus signs appeared beside Medical Genius and Chakra Control, indicating they could be upgraded.
That was the power of points.
