"Woohoo! Many happy returns of the day!" Shivansh's mother said her iconic line that she always shouted after every cake cutting. She embraced him into a hug. Everyone laughed at the joyful moment.
Shivansh was dazed for a moment. How long had it been since he had been embraced in such a tone. He took a deep breath. The old familiar love, the seemingly faint memories rushed back.
The emotions were swayed again and his eyes moistened. He could not help himself and tears fell. Shanti quickly worked seeing the situation getting out of control. She quickly absorbed the tears with the help of the armor and calmed him down. How long had it been since he saw her.
It was his mother. How could the rampaging emotions calm down so quickly. Sensing something wrong she stepped back and held his shoulders.
"Beta[1] what happened? Why are your eyes red?" His mother asked in a worried tone.
This was the last nail in the coffin. His voice cracked but Shanti quickly handled the situation. She calmed him down and helped him. This all happened in seconds thanks to her being synced with his brain.
He sniffled his nose and with a beaming smile spoke to his mother,
"Nothing Ma. Your bangles[2] pressed to hard against me."
"Sorry beta! Are you hurt. Is it paining very much?" She quickly asked in a worried tone.
Shivansh smiled at the barrage of questions. How long had it been since he felt that selfless love?
"No its fine now. Here have a slice." He replied as he fed her some cake and she returned the favor.
Shivansh could now clearly see the room. He could see his family and friends. The room had pink walls and a marble floor. A bed lay on one side of the room big enough for one. A small power inverter was seen beside the main door. There were also some bamboo chairs.
The cake was placed on a bamboo table in front of him, probably from the same set. His father came by his side and picked him up. He swayed him around while laughter ensured. His emotions were so overwhelming that they were suppressed.
He smiled seeing his father. A father who was more like a friend. Enjoying life and making sure no one remained sad. One by one his family and friends took turns to feed him some cake.
Some took the chance to smear some on his chubby cheeks. The cake was then taken away to be cut info equal pieces to be served. The children were then made to sit in a line on the carpet that was placed. The food was then placed in plated, ready to be served. All the mamis [3]and mausis [4]helped in the kitchen.
Shivansh still dazed sat beside his brother. Akshay, only a few months older than him was his perfect playmate and friend. He had milky white skin and big eyes. His front teeth slightly bigger gave him a slow of childish innocence...
