Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Capital city library

Hastora blinked, the morning light piercing through the gap in the curtains. He stretched, his muscles still stiff after hours of sleep. The warm sunlight touched his skin, bringing a sense of comfort and laziness at the same time. He pulled the blanket closer, enjoying its warmth for a moment before finally deciding to get up.

The sound of birds chirping came from outside the window, adding to the peaceful morning atmosphere. He got out of bed, his steps still a little unsteady. A new day had begun.

"Where are you going?" asked Zarafel curiously.

"To the bathroom," Hastora replied, taking a towel and leaving his room.

Hastora rubbed his eyes, he still felt a little sleepy. It was because he slept late last night. His steps also looked sluggish, his eyes couldn't see clearly, his black hair was scattered, and his clothes looked tattered, revealing his stomach.

In the mansion where Hastora lived, on the second floor, there were several corridors leading to the right and left. Hastora, who had just reincarnated into his 15-year-old body, was not yet familiar with this place.

He stood in the middle of the hallway, looking a little confused. There were too many hallways there, he didn't know which hallway to enter to go to the bathroom.

"Too many hallways," he said. "I wonder, where is the hallway leading to the bathroom?"

"I don't know either," Zarafel replied.

Hastora sighed, "use your ability to find the bathroom, damn it!"

"You're right, I forgot hahaha," Zarafel replied, laughing lightly. "Okay, I'll start, $##¥€. Done, the hallway leading to the bathroom is the third one on the right."

Hearing that, Hastora immediately moved towards the third hallway on the right. As he was about to enter the hallway, suddenly, someone came out of the hallway.

"!!!"

They faced each other, a green-haired girl had just come out of the hallway, she looked a little surprised. But, not Hastora, he wasn't surprised at all.

"Who is she, Hastora?" asked Zarafel.

"It doesn't matter," Hastora replied.

He immediately walked past the green-haired girl without saying a word. He just passed by while putting on a flat and cold expression, as if he didn't care about the girl's presence. He didn't even look back.

"You didn't greet her?" asked Zarafel, a little curious about Hastora's cold attitude just now.

"No," Hastora replied. "There's no point in greeting someone who doesn't even have a bit of value."

Zarafel fell silent, he felt there was some truth to Hastora's words just now. Greeting someone unimportant is pointless.

On the other hand, the green-haired girl seemed to be looking at Hastora who was walking towards the bathroom. She looked at him with a look of surprise and amazed. "So cold," was what she thought about what happened just now.

"... "

Hastora entered the bathroom. There was no one there, it was very quiet and empty. But, for Hastora, it was an extraordinary peace.

He took off his clothes and immediately soaked in the warm water.

"Ughhh... this is so comfortable," he said.

"Hey!, yours is very big, huh!" said Zarafel.

"What?" asked Hastora, he didn't understand the meaning of Zarafel's words.

"I mean yours, it's very big," Zarafel replied. "Mine used to be not even as big as yours."

"This is one of the strengths of a demon lord nicknamed the tyrant, isn't it great?" Hastora replied.

"Tch," Zarafel seemed to click his tongue.

"Are you jealous?" asked Hastora.

"No," he replied briefly.

"... "

After fifteen minutes of soaking, Hastora decided to finish his bath. He dried his body and immediately moved towards his room.

Upon arriving in his room, he opened the closet and immediately took out black clothes.

"Why did you choose black?" asked Zarafel, a little curious.

"Nothing special, it's just a matter of my handsomeness," Hastora replied.

Hastora immediately put on the clothes he took. He wore a long black jacket that looked like a robe and had a little red stripe on his sleeve. He also seemed to be wearing a plain black t-shirt inside.

After putting on his clothes, he immediately walked towards the mirror to see his appearance.

"I'm very cool, right?" asked Hastora.

"You're right, you're very cool, Hastora," Zarafel praised.

Hastora continued to look for pants to wear. There were many pants in his closet, all of them looked cool. However, there was one pair of pants that caught Hastora's attention.

"This is very interesting," he said, holding the pants.

Without thinking twice, he immediately put on the pants.

"This fits," he said.

He seemed to be wearing black long pants. The pants matched his long jacket perfectly.

"I feel like the long jacket and long pants are a pair," said Zarafel. "Look, there are even gloves there."

"Where?" asked Hastora.

"In the closet, near where this long jacket was earlier."

Hastora ran to the closet. There, a black gloves could be seen. Hastora immediately took the gloves and put them on without thinking twice.

"There's only one glove," said Zarafel.

"Yeah," Hastora replied. "It seems so."

Feeling perfect, Hastora hurried out of his room. He went down the stairs one by one. Below, his entire family could be seen eating together. However, Hastora ignored them and immediately walked out of the mansion.

"Where are you going?" asked Elara, she seemed to be eating and sitting next to the head of the family.

"Looking for a woman," Hastora replied.

Elara immediately spat out the water she was drinking when she heard that. Her face showed that she was shocked and confused.

"What!" Elara shouted. "Are you secretly into playing with women?"

All the eyes of the people attending the meal were on Hastora. They showed expressions of shock and amazement, there were also those who showed expressions of shock and disgust.

Hastora felt that their reaction was very excessive. 20,000 years ago, such words were commonplace among nobles. He knew this because he had once slaughtered an entire kingdom by himself in a single destructive magic attack. Before attacking the kingdom, he had heard the nobles say those words without any fuss, as if it was a habit of theirs.

"I'm just kidding," Hastora replied to Elara's question. "I just want to go out for a bit."

"Don't lie," said Elara. "Just be honest, where are you going?, you're not trying to do things that could make our family name bad, are you?"

Hastora sighed, "there's no point for me to do that."

Feeling like there was nothing else to say, Hastora immediately opened the door to go out.

"You're not eating?" asked the head of the family.

Hastora turned his head slightly back, "no."

Hastora walked out of the mansion and closed the door again.

"Why didn't you eat with them?" asked Zarafel.

"I wasn't even invited," Hastora replied. "Besides, the other kids didn't seem to like it if I joined them, it was clear from their expressions earlier."

"Are you sad?" asked Zarafel.

"Sad?, that's funny. They're all not even worthy to eat with me."

"Eh... you must be saying that because you're upset, right?" Zarafel asked a little mischievously. "Don't be sad, your older brother is here."

"Don't joke," Hastora replied. "Lowly creatures like them are not worthy to make me feel sad, you're included."

Zarafel became upset after hearing that, he felt offended by Hastora's words.

"What do you mean I'm included, huh?" Zarafel asked with a lot of annoyance. "Do you think I'm a lowly creature like them?. Hey buddy, I'm an Aevum, they're not worthy to be compared to me."

Hastora decided to remain silent and not say a word, he didn't want to argue with Zarafel. In his opinion, Zarafel was the type of person who didn't want to lose an argument.

"Where are you going?" asked Zarafel.

"Hmmm... I don't know either," Hastora replied.

"What!" Zarafel shouted, a little surprised by his answer. "You're leaving without knowing where you're going? you're so stupid."

"Realize your position as a lowly creature," Hastora replied. "I'm going to the library."

"Who do you mean by lowly creature, huh?. And, what's your purpose of going to the library? to destroy it? I think that's cool." Zarafel said while guessing Hastora's purpose.

Hastora sighed, he was a little tired of Zarafel's nature. "I want to find a book that explains about 20,000 years ago."

"20,000 years ago?" asked Zarafel. "Why?"

"I want to find out about the history written 20,000 years ago," Hastora replied, informing him of his purpose.

"Do you hope you will be in the history books?" asked Zarafel. "If that's what you hope for, then you'll never find it, HAHAHA. A tyrannical demon lord like you won't be in human history."

"Can you shut up?" Zarafel replied. "I just want to know the history written by those lowly humans."

"Are you interested in them?"

"No."

Zarafel decided to remain silent and not ask any more questions. He felt that Hastora was very serious at the moment, it could be seen from the look in his eyes.

...

After fourteen minutes of walking, finally, Hastora arrived at the capital's library. The capital's library was a very large, big, and tall building. Even the yard itself was very large. There was a fountain and a flower garden there.

Hastora entered the library, the inside looked more beautiful and bigger than the outside. Hastora was a little surprised, his assessment of this library was beyond his expectations. Initially, he thought the library would be ordinary. However, it was very different from what Hastora imagined.

"Not bad," Hastora said, giving a little praise.

"Right, isn't it?" Zarafel responded to Hastora's praise of the library.

Hastora walked towards the librarian, he tried to ask about the bookshelf he wanted to find. The librarian was a 23-year-old girl, with brown hair and green eyes.

"Excuse me, miss. Where is the bookshelf that explains about history?" he asked curiously.

The librarian just remained silent and didn't answer Hastora's question. She stared at Hastora with sparkling eyes, her face flushed.

Hastora felt something was wrong with the librarian, so he tried to reprimand her.

"Excuse me, miss? are you alright?" he asked.

Suddenly the librarian woke up from her daydream, she felt ashamed of her attitude earlier and immediately told Hastora the location of the bookshelf that explained about history.

"I'm sorry!, the bookshelf that explains about history is on the right, located in front of the bookshelf that explains about alchemy," the librarian said while telling Hastora.

"Okay, thank you."

"Yes, you're welcome."

Hastora immediately walked towards the bookshelf that had been shown to him by the librarian earlier.

Upon arriving there, he immediately looked for the book he wanted to read. He took one book after another from the shelf, and began to read.

"What is this book about?" asked Zarafel curiously.

"History 1,000 years ago," Hastora replied while reading the book.

Hastora read the book page by page. However, the book was not the book he wanted. He put the book back in its original place, and immediately looked for another book that he thought was useful.

"My instinct tells me that book is pretty useful, Hastora," Zarafel said while giving advice.

"Which book?" asked Hastora.

"That one, in the bottom corner."

Hastora immediately turned to the book, he immediately took it and read it.

"History 500 years ago?, history 1,000 years ago was already very uninteresting, what about this one," Hastora said.

He returned the book to its original place. In his opinion, the book was even more useless than the previous one.

"Your instinct is terrible," Hastora said.

"Tch, shut up, you jerk."

Hastora searched for another book, but he didn't find any interesting books. He decided to read all the books on that shelf at once.

He used his magic, 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱. Magic that transcends distance, which allows the user to grasp and hold anything in the palm of their hand, no matter how far away the objects are. This spell causes his hand to glow with a blackish purple aura. The user is not limited by the number of his hands and can grasp many objects simultaneously and move them in different directions. It could be said that this is a far more superior telekinesis. Hastora once used this magic to create an eclipse 20,000 years ago.

Hastora began to take out all the books on the shelf using his magic. He read each book there one by one.

"What's wrong with the books here?, they're all so useless," Hastora said coldly, but it sounded a little annoyed.

Zarafel sighed, "you should just give up."

"I won't."

Hastora began to read the other books there again. However, everything was still useless.

"Okay, okay, I give up," Hastora said. "There's nothing useful here."

Hastora put back all the books he had read earlier. He seemed to have given up looking for useful history books. He immediately walked out leaving the library.

"In the end, you didn't find any useful books, did you?" asked Zarafel.

Hastora sighed, "right... it's all just garbage books."

After leaving the library, he was a little surprised to see the sky looking a little dusky.

"How long have I been reading inside?" he asked curiously.

"Maybe eight hours."

"What!, eight hours."

Hastora was startled to hear that, he felt like he was only reading books there for a while, but why did it take eight hours?.

"Why so long?" asked Hastora.

"You're too focused," Zarafel replied. "Next time, pay attention to your surroundings too."

"Okay, okay," he replied.

"So, where are you going now?" Zarafel asked, his curiosity was piqued.

"I think I'll go to the beach."

"Eh?, why?".

"Just to look around."

Hastora immediately walked towards the sea, the distance between the sea and the library was not far. It only took 10 minutes to get there.

He walked through the capital's park, it was very crowded there, it made Hastora uncomfortable. He quickened his pace, with the aim of getting away from the crowd.

...

After 10 minutes of walking, finally Hastora arrived at the beach. The wind there was very cool, the waves looked very calm, a good atmosphere to relax.

"What are you going to do here?" asked Zarafel.

"Relax," he replied briefly.

Hearing that, Zarafel immediately burst into laughter.

"HAHAHA! relax? don't joke!" Zarafel shouted while laughing hysterically. "I thought you were going to fight or travel far, you're wearing such cool clothes as if you were going to fight or travel far, but, it turns out you just want to relax by the sea?, HAHAHA!".

"Don't be noisy, you jerk!, you're just going to disturb my relaxing time."

Hastora jumped from above to below, he immediately looked for a good place to relax. However, while he was busy looking for a place to relax, he heard the sound of many people shouting from the direction of the harbor.

"There's a monster there! run!"

Hearing that, Zarafel became curious about what was happening there.

"What's going on? why are those stupid creatures shouting?"
