Yibo pulled his foot away from Zhan's grasp as soon as he saw that Sen Wen had driven off. Pouting slightly, he muttered, "You can stop now. It has stop paining."
Zhan didn't wait for any more explanations. He stood up slowly, while Seth, who had been watching from a distance, walked over with a smile and said. "I knew there wasn't any real injury. You're just hiding something."
Zhan glanced at Yibo, then quickly looked toward the gate. Spotting the bag Yibo had dropped earlier, he picked it up and opened it to check its contents. Then, without another word, he headed toward the gate.
Seeing this, Yibo quickly grabbed his bag and shoes and rushed inside their apartment, sneaking glances at Zhan the entire time.
Seth chuckled and went back to his seat.
Inside the sitting room, Yuting looked up as Yibo walked in and asked, "Why did you lock the door?"
Yibo's eyes widened. "Oh, I forgot. I thought it was already night."
Still not unlocking the door, he smiled sheepishly and walked further inside, plopping down on the couch. "Mu Qin, I'm home."
"Welcome back," Yuting said. "How is she feeling now?"
"She's doing better. Her mom asked me to send her regards, and she also gave me this." Yibo placed the bag next to Yuting.
"That's thoughtful of her," Yuting said.
Yibo stood up and went to his room, but his heart was still pounding. Now what if Zhan-ge has seen Sen Wen, what's going to happen next?
Later that evening, Yuting asked Yibo to take some food to Nainai. His heart sank. He had been hoping to avoid any encounter with Zhan, so he even faked a foot injury to get out of it. But Yuting wasn't having any of it—she insisted that he take the food himself instead of making Meiling do it.
Holding back a sigh, Yibo wiped away a stray tear, took the food, and walked out hesitantly. He wasn't even sure why his fear of Zhan had intensified all of a sudden.
As he reached the sitting room in Nainai's house, he noticed a pair of shoes by the entrance—ones he didn't recognize. His heartbeat quickened. Not wanting to take any risks, he quickly set the food basket down at the door.
"Who's the sneaky one over there?" Nainai called from inside.
But Yibo had already turned and rushed back to his apartment, nearly tripping in his hurry.

The next morning, Yibo got ready for his lesson and stepped out of his room before 8 AM. He was so tense that even Yuting noticed.
"Why are you acting so jumpy?" she asked.
"My back hurts," he lied.
She made him take some medicine before he left.
As soon as he reached the parking area, he scanned for Zhan's car. Seeing it parked there, he decided he wouldn't wait for Meiling and the others. Instead, he rushed straight to the gate, preferring to find a ride on his own rather than risk running into Zhan.
After their lesson, while waiting for their driver, Meiling turned to Yibo and asked, "Why didn't you wait for us this morning?"
Yibo scoffed. "I just didn't want to waste time. You guys were taking forever, and I hate being late, so I left."
Mengxi raised a brow. "Oh, please. You're the one who always makes us wait. Every single morning, we stand outside by the car while you take your sweet time getting ready. First, your back hurts; now, it's your foot. Honestly, from now on, don't wait for us either. Just go ahead on your own."
Yibo turned to Meiling and said, "You see that I wasn't even talking to that woman, right? Tell her to mind her own business and leave me alone."
Mengxi laughed and said, "Yeah, right. I might as well let you keep sulking all by yourself."
Meiling looked at Mengxi and said, "Come on, what's that supposed to mean?"
Mengxi shot her a look. "Maybe you should ask him that. Does he think I'm his meet or something?" She scoffed and walked toward the family car, which was parked nearby.
Xinyi clicked her tongue in annoyance. "Some people just love to pick fights. The moment you respond, they start acting like they're on their deathbed. Honestly, who else would bother with your drama if not for pure bad luck?" She muttered as she got into the car.
Meiling turned to Yibo, who was watching them leave. "Just ignore them. It's not worth it."
Yibo didn't say anything. He simply opened the front seat door and got in, while Meiling took the back seat.
When they arrived home, the driver parked the car, and Yibo got out without hesitation. Instead of heading inside, he went straight to Nainai's part of the house.
Nainai was sitting in the living room, preparing a salad when Yibo walked in. He collapsed onto the couch and burst into tears.
Startled, Nainai set her bowl aside and rushed to him. "Oh my… what happened to Yuting?"
Through his sobs, Yibo managed to say, "It's Mengxi and Xinyi… I was just talking to Meiling, and they started insulting me… even calling me unfinished sickness..." He broke off, shaking.
Nainai's expression darkened. She immediately covered her salad bowl, stood up, and stormed out of the room.
Yibo continued crying, his shoulders trembling. Eventually, he calmed down, wiped his tears, and headed to the kitchen. He grabbed a plate, served himself some of the salad Nainai had been making, and walked back to their wing.
Meanwhile, Nainai was in Yichen's room, furiously berating her while Xinyi sat nearby, after making up a story about what had happened between them and Yibo.
Still fuming, Nainai snapped, "Mark my words....you will see what real suffering looks like when your own grandchildren children are born!" Then, as if catching herself, she added, "No, not your grand children... It's Zong's too! But between your mother's family. Yes, in your family, you will see what it's like to be treated unfairly!"
Then she raised her voice even more. "And I swear, if anyone ever mistreats my grandchild again, I will not let it slide! I mean it! Just wait until Zong gets back!"
With that, she stormed out of the room.
When Yibo returned to their apartment, he found Yuting busy in the kitchen, cooking. He greeted her briefly before heading straight to his room. After taking a shower and getting dressed, he walked back into the sitting room, then made his way to the kitchen, where Yuting was preparing ginger tea.
"Mu Qin, is Fu Qin taking a plane or a train back?" Yibo asked.
Yuting raised an eyebrow. "Did he tell you he was coming home today?"
Yibo's eyes widened. "Well, you're cooking, so I assumed…"
Yuting shook her head. "No, it's your Aunty who's on her way home."
"Aunt Beiting?" Yibo asked.
"Yes, they should be landing soon."
Yibo's eyes lit up. "And Nainai didn't tell me?"
"She doesn't know yet," Yuting said. "That's why I didn't tell you yesterday either—I knew you'd rush to tell her, and I wanted to keep it a surprise."
Yibo grinned excitedly. "Is Suyue coming too? Please say yes!"
Yuting smiled. "She's only coming with Suyue this time."
"Who's going to pick them up from the airport? Can I go too, please?" Yibo pleaded.
"Your father asked Zhan to go pick them up," Yuting said casually.
At that, Yibo fell silent. He didn't say another word and just grabbed a plate, opening the food to serve himself.

At exactly four o'clock, Zhan left for the airport to pick up his Aunty and her youngest daughter. The moment they started heading home, Suyue kept asking about Yibo in her fluent foreign-accented English.
Zhan smiled and said, "He's doing fine. You two are about the same height, but he's more of a spoiled one."
Suyue burst into laughter. "I can't wait to see him! We do video calls once in a while, but it's not the same."
Zhan chuckled. "Well, you'll see him soon."
Beiting asked, "But he's doing much better now, right?"
Zhan nodded. "Yes, Auntie, much better."
Beiting sighed in relief. "That's good to hear. Quentin Gege told me the same thing. By the way, I hope your bride is supposed to meet me before the wedding…?"
Zhan only smiled, saying nothing.
She raised an eyebrow. "Oh? You're not planning to bring her to me, then?"
He let out a small laugh. "No, no, of course, I'll bring her to you, Auntie."
Beiting nodded in satisfaction. "That's better. And I hope you're all being patient with AYi?"
Zhan smiled. "You should just take her with you, Auntie. That would be a real favor."
Beiting laughed. "You have no shame, Zhan. You're telling me to 'take' our mother?"
Zhan sighed. "Auntie, I swear, she's driving everyone in the house crazy…"
Beiting smiled mischievously. "Well, in four months, when I move back to China permanently, I'll take her with me. Then let's see how much you all miss her."
Zhan laughed. "She'd never agree to it. She'd rather stay here and keep making Zong and Quentin's lives miserable."
Beiting laughed again. "You're impossible, Zhan."
When they arrived home, Zhan parked the car in the driveway. Beiting looked around with nostalgia. "Wow, three years since I last saw this house. Once I've rested, I'd like you to take me to your place."
Zhan nodded. "Of course, Auntie. We'll go later."
First, Beiting and Suyue visited Zong's part of the house, where they greeted Zihan and Yichen.
She didn't stay long before stepping out with Zihan. Yichen, after exchanging a few words, had locked herself in her room.
As they walked, Beiting glanced at Zihan. "Yichen is still as cold as ever, huh?"
Zihan just smiled.
Beiting shook her head. "That's fine. Let her be. She ignored me just because she thinks she can."
Zihan remained silent.
They then headed to Yibo's section of the house. Yibo, hearing Suyue's voice, came out of his room, excited to see her. She hugged him tightly, thrilled to finally meet him in person.
Yuting, observing the moment, turned to Beiting. "Where's your luggage? Or are you staying somewhere else?"
Beiting sighed. "It's still in the car. Zhan didn't bring it in."
Yuting led her to the bedroom so she could freshen up, while Zihan bid them farewell and returned to her part.
After eating and taking a shower, Suyue joined Yibo in his room, chatting away. As the evening approached, Yibo suggested, "Let's go surprise Nainai. She'd love to see you."
Suyue frowned playfully. "Has she stopped yelling at people?"
Yibo burst into laughter. "There's no one left for her to yell at these days. Come on, let's go."
Without informing Yuting, they left for Nainai's quarters. She was by the tap outside when they arrived. She looked up, seeing them approach, but only focused on Yibo's grin.
Nainai frowned. "And who is this foreign-looking girl?"
Yibo started laughing. "You don't recognize her, Nainai?"
She scoffed, resuming her washing. "What kind of question is that? Even if my own mother rose from the grave, If I didn't recognize her instantly, who will blame me?. I've been working here all day with no one offering to help. My back feels like it's about to break, and all you care about is surprises…"
Suyue pouted and stepped inside.
Yibo smirked. "It's Suyue, Nainai."
She paused. "Who?"
Yibo chuckled, watching her reaction.
Nainai scrutinized Suyue from head to toe. "She's the one? Why is she so pale like a ghost? She looks like she's been drained of all color!"
Yibo sat on the balcony, shaking with laughter.
Nainai clicked her tongue. "You people in this house hate the truth. If not for that lovely Meiling secretly telling me earlier, I wouldn't have even known Beiting was coming today! And now you bring me this paled girl and expect me not to notice how different she looks? Do you all take me for a fool?"
Nainai smacked her lips and said, "I don't care."
Suyue stepped out of the sitting room and walked away. Nainai watched her go, clicking her tongue. "Their father really ruined them," she muttered. "He took them all and ran off to a foreign country to settle down. But does she even understand Chinese dialects?"
Yibo couldn't say anything—he just kept laughing. Nainai finished rinsing the tap area, stood up, and walked back into her sitting room, mumbling, "Quentin really has a knack for trouble. If not for the fact that you're family, I wouldn't let anyone take advantage of Sen Wen like that. And you... do you think it's funny to sit by the door laughing like a lunatic?"
She scoffed. "And Beiting better not even think about coming here. I'll chase her out. She clearly doesn't think I'm worth much. Otherwise, she would have at least told me she was coming so I could give her my blessings. This isn't anyone's decision but that reckless Quentin's. Zong would never do something like this."
Yibo stood up and left without saying anything, heading back to his own part of the house.
🔸▫️🔹
Later that night, Zong and Suyue went to visit Nainai. Nainai was sitting in the living room with Beiting and Zhan. As soon as she saw Suyue, her face lit up. "I was just telling Zhan to go and find you! Since you arrived, we haven't had a chance to see each other. You came earlier, but I was busy washing by the tap, and you didn't even wait for me to finish before running off."
Suyue sat down and greeted her, though without much enthusiasm. Nainai responded warmly. "You must be exhausted from the trip. And look at you... you're almost as tall as Yibo now!"
Suyue didn't respond. Beiting just smiled.
Zong greeted Nainai, and she replied, "It's a good thing they didn't tell me they were on their way. If I had known, I wouldn't have been able to sleep properly. But seeing them appear out of nowhere like this was much better, don't you think?"
Zong smiled and agreed, "That's true."
Zhan stood up and walked out of the sitting room. Suyue followed him, walking beside him in silence. After a while, she said, "Zhan ge, did you see what Nainai did to me earlier? It's like she didn't even recognize me!"
Zhan chuckled. "She'll do even more than that. Just ignore it; that's how she is. Anyway, how's school?"
"It's going well," she replied.
He gave her a knowing look. "I hope you're not getting involved with any boys before finishing your studies."
She laughed. "Gege, please! Even Yibo has a boyfriend! He told me his boyfriend's birthday is coming up soon, and his friends are planning a celebration for him. He even asked for my advice on what to get him as a gift."
Zhan stopped walking and turned to look at her. "When did he tell you his boyfriend birthday date?"
Suyue widened her eyes. "I didn't ask him the date! But I actually talked to his boyfriend on the phone. He sounded really cute..." She ended with a smile.
Zhan remained silent, walking forward again, deep in thought.
Suyue watched him and then gasped. "Wait... am I even supposed to be telling you this?"
He smiled. "Why do you say that?"
"You seem surprised. Maybe you didn't even know Yibo had a boyfriend? Did I just reveal it to you?"
Zhan nodded. "Yes... he's been keeping it a secret. But don't tell him you mentioned it to me. He won't be happy."
Suyue pouted. "Then you better not bring it up either! He'll be upset with me."
Zhan chuckled. "I won't."
When they reached Yibo's part of the house, Suyue said, "I'm spending the night here. Can you tell Meiling, Xinyi, and Mengxi to come over so we can chat?"
"Alright, I'll let them know," Zhan said before walking off.
As he left, his mind kept replaying what Suyue had just told him. A small smile played on his lips as he entered their own section of the house.
:-*:-*:-*:-*:-*
The next morning, Yibo sulked as he got ready for his lessons after Yuting insisted he couldn't stay home.
Suyue found Yuting in the kitchen and quietly said, "Aunty, please let him stay today. I won't have anyone to chat with if he leaves."
Yuting replied, "Go talk to your grandmother, then."
Suyue quickly shook her head. "No way! She only talks about people, and she's already started complaining about me too."
Yuting chuckled. "She's still your grandma."
"Sure, sure," Suyue sighed. "But Aunty, will you let him stay?"
"He'll be done by noon," Yuting said. "And soon, they'll stop going altogether. Yibo didn't even hesitate to skip, which is why I had to force him to go."
Suyue sighed. "Alright then, let's just hope noon comes quickly." She left the kitchen, and Yibo soon emerged from his room, bag in hand. He stood at the kitchen doorway, looking as if he might cry. "Mu Qin, I'm leaving."
"Have you eaten breakfast?" Yuting asked.
He shook his head. "I'll eat when I get back."
"Suit yourself," she said.
Yibo turned and left. Suyue followed him to the parking space just as Zhan stepped out, car keys in hand. Suyue smiled at him. "Good morning, Zhan-ge."
Without looking at her, he replied, "Morning, Suyue. Did you sleep well?"
"Sure… all good."
Yibo looked away, heart pounding. Suyue then asked, "Are you heading to work, Gege?"
"No, I only work in the evenings on weekends," Zhan replied.
"That's nice… Do you need some company?"
He hesitated for a moment before saying, "Sure… if you want to."
Suyue turned to Yibo. "Alright, sweetheart, I'll be going with Zhan-ge. Study hard!"
For some reason, Yibo felt uneasy hearing that Suyue was going with Zhan. He glanced at her and simply said, "Oh, okay. Bye." Then, he stole a quick look at Zhan, only to find Zhan watching him. Stalled, he quickly looked away.
Zhan unlocked his car, got in, and started the engine. Suyue walked around and hopped into the front seat.
When Yibo returned from his lessons at noon, Suyue still hadn't come back. He looked at Yuting and asked, "Mu Qin, Suyue hasn't returned since this morning?"
Yuting nodded. "No, she went out with Zhan, didn't she?"
Yibo pursed his lips, then got up and went to his room.
At one o'clock, after finishing lunch, he went to visit Nainai's section of the house. She was sitting in the living room with Beiting. Yibo greeted them both, though Nainai had a sour expression.
She responded and then immediately turned to Yibo. "Did you hear what nonsense they're saying about me, Yibo? That no matter what happens at Zhan's wedding—good or bad—I should keep my mouth shut and stay out of it. Just because they think I have no fear, no regard for the truth, and a hardened heart. But what can anyone do to me that life itself hasn't already done?"
Beiting sighed. "Please, AYi, try to understand. If we don't tell you the truth, who will? It's not about anything, but sometimes you speak too bluntly, and people might take it the wrong way. AYi."
Nainai blinked several times, shaking her head. "It's been a long time since anyone tried to silence me. And now, at my own grandson's wedding, you expect me to sit quietly? Do you even know the struggles I went through raising Zhan? Even Yichen has no control over him now. That boy caused me so much trouble in the neighborhood—one day fighting this person, the next running over that one. If not for sheer luck, I would've been beaten up myself before I finally left that place! Do you know how many times I had to go to his school to deal with fights with his teachers?
I even fought with my own friends because of him! And now you're telling me to sit back and watch his wedding in silence, like my mother sent me just to witness it? That's nonsense!"
Beiting sighed. "No one is saying you should be silent, AYi, but you don't have to get involved in everything. Yichen doesn't even want anyone meddling in the wedding affairs. Just look—she knew the wedding was why I came to the country, but aside from a brief greeting yesterday, she hasn't visited me once. Do you think she's happy about my presence?"
Nainai scoffed. "Well, she's not the one arranging this wedding.... I am! Don't worry, we'll see how things unfold. As long as I'm alive and well, I'll be watching over this wedding. And if she steps out of line, she might not even sleep in this house on the wedding night!"
Beiting pursed her lips but said nothing.
Nainai huffed. "After everything I've been through for him, people still talk nonsense to me."
Yibo simply smiled, scrolling through his phone.
Just then, a voice called from the doorway. Yibo turned quickly, recognizing it as Sen Wen's.
Nainai immediately brightened, standing up with a wide grin. "Ah! Sen Wen! You finally decided to visit. Come in, come in! It's just me, Beiting, and Yibo here."
Yibo, without a word, bolted into Nainai's room.
Sen Wen entered the sitting room, head slightly lowered. Nainai beamed at him, then turned to Beiting, who was sitting on the couch. "Get up and give him a place to sit! He's your future in-law!"
Sen Wen's eyes widened. "No, no, Nainai, there's plenty of space." Without waiting for a response, he sat on the carpet instead.
Nainai went to the fridge, grabbing three bottles of water and three cans of soda. Beiting watched her with thinly veiled irritation.
Sen Wen greeted her politely, "Good afternoon Aunty."
Beiting nodded. "Afternoon. Welcome."
Nainai smiled proudly. "He's Yibo's suitor, he's just waiting for him to finish high school so we can discuss the marriage. He's the son of Mr. Wen Yo Lee, the owner of the biggest gas stations in the country. Have you ever seen a more well-mannered young man? Honestly, I've never met anyone as polite and respectful as him in my entire life!"
Beiting said nothing, only sighing.
Sen Wen, still smiling shyly, kept his head down.
Nainai suddenly called out, "Look at this rudeness! Yibo, are you seriously hiding just because your boyfriend come in? Come out and at least say hello! If not for you, how would we even know him?"
Yibo, sitting stubbornly on Nainai's bed, pouted but refused to respond.
Sen Wen chuckled awkwardly, rubbing the back of his head. "I actually just came to greet the guests, Nainai."
Nainai waved dismissively. "Ah, well, you're here now. Let's talk." She gestured toward Beiting. "This is Beiting, Zhan's father's younger sister. She had four children—one passed away, another is married and living overseas, the younger brother is still studying, and then there's Suyue, who came with her. She's about the same age as Yibo, though Yibo is taller. But between the two, Suyue is the more well-human one."
Beiting rested her chin on her hand, silently observing her mother.
Sen Wen just kept smiling, head still lowered.
Nainai clapped her hands suddenly. "Now, enough of that. Sen Wen, did you hear that Zhan's engagement is happening this coming Saturday?"
Sen Wen looked at her and said, "Well, he didn't tell me, Nainai..."
Nainai gasped dramatically, placing a hand on her cheek. "See what I mean? Even though the engagement would happen whether he told you or not, he should have at least mentioned it! Well, I'm telling you now—it's this Saturday."
Sen Wen nodded. "May we all be well until then, Nainai."
Nainai sighed. "Amen to that. He even took me and Yibo to see the house where he and his bride will live. You haven't seen it? It's a modest place, nothing too extravagant. But it's decent enough... I just pray it brings them happiness. At least it's better than nothing."
Sen Wen couldn't stop smiling, barely holding back his laughter.
Annoyed, Beiting stood up and gave Nainai a pointed look. "Well, Sen Wen, thanks for stopping by. I'll be heading inside now."
Sen Wen nodded. "Alright, Aunty. Thank you."
Beiting left the sitting room, and Nainai turned to her. "Oh, tell Yuting to make carrot soup today. I'm really craving it." Beiting didn't respond.
Then Nainai turned to her room. "Yibo, stop embarrassing me and come out to greet him. Running into my room just because your suitor arrived? That's ridiculous! In our time, we didn't act like this."
Sen Wen chuckled. "Let him be, Nainai."
"You want me to let him be?" she huffed. Not waiting for a reply, she stood up and marched toward the door. Yibo, realizing what was happening, hurried out before she could reach him.
Nainai smiled. "Don't act like some village boy, Yibo. You were born right in Shanghai, after all."
Sen Wen laughed, while Yibo sat stiffly on the couch with a blank expression. "How are you?" he asked curtly.
"I'm fine. How's your family?" Sen Wen replied.
Nainai, still grinning, answered for him. "They're doing well, thank you!"
Yibo shot her a glare before turning back to Sen Wen. "Let me walk you out. Looks like you've completed your mission here today."
Still smiling, Sen Wen teased and changed to English, "I see why you don't want the three of us together..."
Nainai, amused, beamed. "Oh, don't mind him! He studied at a prestigious school too. There's no type of English he can't speak."
Yibo rolled his eyes and stood up, gesturing toward the door. "Let's go."
Sen Wen chuckled, rising to his feet. "Alright, Nainai, send my regards to Aunty. I'll be heading out now."
Nainai nodded. "We appreciate the visit, Sen Wen. May fortune follow you..."
Before she could finish, he placed an envelope on the table. She frowned, crossing her arms. "You never get tired of this, do you, Sen Wen?"
Sen Wen laughed. "It's nothing, Nainai. Please accept it." With that, he turned toward the door, already aware that Yibo had left ahead of him.
Once they stepped out of Nainai's section of the house, Sen Wen finally let out the laughter he had been holding in. He laughed so hard he had to stop walking, while Yibo glared at him as if on the verge of tears.
Seeing how much fun Sen Wen was having, Yibo leaned against a flower pot and just watched him. He had never seen Sen Wen laugh like this before. At that moment, Sen Wen looked even more charming than usual.
Before he even realized it, Yibo smiled.
Still catching his breath, Sen Wen finally calmed down, and Yibo quietly said, "You look cute when you laugh."
Yibo quickly covered his face after saying that, while Sen Wen stared at him with wide eyes. As if sensing his gaze, Yibo turned his back to him, his own eyes widening in embarrassment.
Sen Wen felt an overwhelming urge to pull him into a tight hug, but instead, he simply smiled and lowered his gaze, silently praying that the upcoming meeting with Zhan's father and Yibo's with his uncles in a few days wouldn't be a wasted effort.
The sound of footsteps behind them made them both turn around simultaneously. Zhan was approaching with Suyue by his side. Yibo's heart pounded in his chest, and he stood still. Zhan glanced at them once before looking away.
In a low voice, Sen Wen asked, "Is that Suyue?"
Yibo nodded slowly. "Yeah, that's her."
As they reached them, Sen Wen extended his hand toward Zhan. After a brief moment of hesitation, Zhan shook it.
"How's work?" Sen Wen asked.
"Going well," Zhan responded curtly before moving past them.
Suyue greeted Sen Wen politely. Smiling, he replied, "It's nice to meet you, Suyue. Hope the journey wasn't too tiring?"
"Not at all," she said with a smile. "You're lucky to have my brother. I hope you two stay happy together."
Sen Wen's eyes widened playfully. "I love those words! And since you said them, I feel like I owe you a favor. So, go ahead... ask for anything you want."
Suyue just laughed. "Well, thank you, Mr. Sen Wen." Then, she quickly followed after Zhan.
As soon as she caught up with him, she lowered her voice and whispered, "He's just too handsome, Zhan-ge. Yibo is really lucky..."
Zhan didn't respond. Instead, he pushed open the sitting room door of Nainai's and walked inside, with Suyue following closely behind.
"Now I know what Yibo should get him for his birthday," she mused aloud.
Zhan glanced at her. "And what do you plan on telling him?"
She winked. "That's our little secret, big bro."
Settling onto the couch, Zhan turned to Nainai, who was sitting nearby.
"That young man who likes Yibo just left," Nainai said, shaking her head. "You should've seen how upset he was when he found out Yibo never told him about your engagement this Saturday. He was really hurt. And who knows what his father and the man himself might offer you? He's a millionaire... there's no limit to what he could give."
Zhan's expression darkened. "Whatever he gives, he can give it to you if you need it. I don't. And please, stop discussing my affairs in front of other people. I don't like it. What I have is enough for me...I don't need to look at what others have."
With that, he stood up and left the room.
Nainai scoffed. "Your mother, Yichen, really raised you to be this stubborn. Fine, leave then. It's not like we're that close anyway. After all, Zong is the one who fathered you, and I only gave birth to him. No surprise you turned out this way...you take after Yichen."
Suyue chuckled, shaking her head as she got up and left the room too.
Later that night, Yibo stepped out of the shower, a towel wrapped around his waist. "Where did you and Gege disappear to all day?" he asked.
Suyue, busy on her laptop, smirked. "So, you were in the shower thinking about us, huh? And now you're out here asking questions?"
Yibo laughed. "Of course!"
Suyue put her laptop aside and said, "Well, let's just say we went all over the place..."
"Like where exactly?" Yibo pressed.
"He told me not to tell anyone—not even you."
Yibo sat beside her, looking desperate. "Please tell me. I swear I won't say a word. It's not like we're even on the best of terms right now."
Suyue laughed. "Are you sure I should? He made me promise to keep it a secret, and we only went there because of you..."
Yibo's face fell, his expression almost pitiful. "Please tell me. I promise he'll never find out..."
