Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Where There Were Never Ruins

The air shifted before the flames on the books died out.

It wasn't an earthquake. It was… an edit.

The library trembled softly, like a reader turning the page of their favorite story.

And when we opened the door… the world was no longer the same.

The forest surrounding the secret entrance remained intact, but something beyond it had changed.

A stone road I didn't remember now led up a hill.

And at the top...

A city.

Clean walls, emblems engraved with a familiar symbol: the broken wings of a fallen goddess.

"This wasn't here before," Sera murmured.

"No," I said, pointing to the banner waving from the tallest tower.

"That symbol… it's yours."

Entering was easy.

The guards—human, not corrupted—looked at us and nodded as if they knew us.

As if we were returning, not trespassing.

"Welcome, Lady Veyl," one of them said with a slight bow.

"The temple has been expecting you."

Sera looked at me, silent, but her eyes were trembling.

They guided us to the heart of the city.

And there it stood: the Temple of the Silent Confession.

No ruins. No shadows.

It was beautiful.

White marble under the three moons.

Stained glass depicting Sera—not as a victim, but as a protector.

"This city… was never destroyed, was it?" I asked.

Sera slowly shook her head.

"No. Because now… it never was."

A child approached us, curious.

"Are you Lady Veyl? The one from the stories…"

Sera knelt down. She smiled at him with a tenderness I hadn't seen in days.

"Maybe," she replied. "And you? Are you real?"

The child laughed.

"My mom says you made the song of the three moons!"

Then he sang.

A melody about a priestess who never gave up, about a god who was silenced, and a city that refused to forget.

I watched in silence.

The world… was being rewritten.

And for the first time, it wasn't trying to destroy us.
