Chapter 84 - Chapter 84: The Memory Puzzle

Su Wanqing sat at her desk, flipping through the thick case files in her hands. Her gaze lingered on reports of old cases. These cases seemed unrelated at first glance, some spanning many years with different people and backgrounds involved. But in her mind, there was a faint feeling—a sense that there might be an unknown connection between them.

This wasn't the first time she had encountered such a situation. She had gone over these files countless times, trying to find a breakthrough, but always feeling that something was missing. Recently, while organizing the cases, she had accidentally found subtle links between several seemingly unrelated incidents. Every time she looked at these case reports, a strange memory flashed in her mind, as though a long-forgotten truth was drawing closer.

"Are these cases really unrelated?" Su Wanqing murmured softly to herself, her fingertips lightly tracing the papers on the desk. She stared at one case report, and suddenly, a detail came to her mind. The deceased was a middle-aged man named Zhao Guodong, who had once been the owner of a small factory. The initial judgment had been suicide, but based on the man's life before his death, Su Wanqing always felt that something wasn't right. She found a clue from Zhao Guodong's cause of death: the suicide note did not reveal any important information, and the autopsy report failed to pinpoint a clear cause of death. The coroner had even noted that there seemed to be faint traces of a drug reaction under the deceased's skin, which would not have been detected in a routine examination.

Another case was from a few years ago. The victim was a young woman—Li Qing, who lived in the suburbs. Her cause of death had also been ruled as suicide, but her family insisted that she had been murdered. Li Qing's body also showed signs of a similar drug reaction, though it was more complicated than Zhao Guodong's case. Su Wanqing had thoroughly studied Li Qing's case and noticed that she had frequent contact with an employee from a company called "Yingshan." Li Qing's parents had never known about these connections until after her death, when they discovered a possible, inexplicable link between the company's employees and her demise.

"Zhao Guodong, Li Qing..." Su Wanqing softly murmured the two names, and her heartbeat began to quicken. The once unclear clues were now starting to come into focus.

She began to record the details of these cases one by one, trying to find commonalities. The differences in time, place, causes of death, and even the victims' backgrounds—all these seemingly unrelated factors began to overlap in her mind. When she reorganized all the details—the time, location, cause of death, and other clues—she suddenly realized that all the cases occurred in the same area, and the victims had different occupations and identities, but there seemed to be no direct connection between them.

"But..." Her thoughts were interrupted when something in the files reminded her of something even more important. She suddenly found startling details in the cases: several victims' death locations and causes were strikingly similar, and there was one common feature—every victim had had contact with "Yingshan" company in the time leading up to their deaths.

Su Wanqing's gaze immediately focused on the name "Yingshan" company. This company, she had investigated before. On the surface, it appeared to be an ordinary tech company focused on artificial intelligence and medical equipment development. However, in Su Wanqing's mind, there had always been an ominous feeling associated with it, one that never quite went away.

She quickly grabbed her phone and dialed Lu Chenzhou's number. "Lu Chenzhou, I've found a clue. We need to go investigate 'Yingshan' company immediately."

On the other end of the line, Lu Chenzhou's voice was low and steady: "Okay, I'll be there right away."

A few minutes later, Lu Chenzhou arrived at Su Wanqing's office. Seeing the pile of documents and messy notes on her desk, he immediately knew this was another complex case. "What did you find?"

"'Yingshan' company." Su Wanqing pointed to the documents on the desk, speaking briefly, "All these seemingly unrelated cases are actually connected to this company. What's more, the victims of these cases all had ties to employees of this company. The deaths, which seemed like coincidences, are hiding a larger conspiracy. I think it may involve secrets that we have yet to uncover."

Lu Chenzhou stood at the desk, silently flipping through the files. His brow gradually furrowed. "So, what is this 'Yingshan' company hiding?"

"I don't know, but I have a feeling it's connected to my parents' deaths." Su Wanqing's voice suddenly grew somber, her fist clenched tightly, "There seems to be a mystery behind these cases that I've never been able to solve."

Lu Chenzhou sensed the change in her tone. He knew that Su Wanqing's parents had died in a mysterious incident when she was young, and their case had never been solved. Her obsession with this case had driven her to immerse herself in every investigation. Now, she was starting to realize that these cases might be somehow connected to the deaths of her parents.

"Su Wanqing, if you believe these cases are linked to your parents' case, we need to be even more careful," Lu Chenzhou said, his voice firm. "We can't let the shadows of the past cloud our judgment, but we can't overlook any clues either."

Su Wanqing nodded, taking a deep breath, and resolved to piece together all the clues. She knew that this time, she was not just seeking the truth of these cases, but also searching for the truth behind her parents' deaths. Deep down, she understood that the truth behind this puzzle might change everything.

Lu Chenzhou and Su Wanqing decided to immediately head to "Yingshan" company for a thorough investigation. At the same time, Su Wanqing's mind was filled with the echoes of past, blurred memories—her parents' death, the unresolved case, and the clues she had been piecing together. Every detail, every memory, seemed to be guiding her toward a deeper truth.

She was no longer the young girl who had once been confused and lost. Her memory puzzle was finally starting to come together, and every piece of that puzzle seemed to point toward an unknown and dangerous abyss.
