Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Sacrifice

Lucifer sped towards the people running in front of him. He kept pushing them down, trying to push as many people as possible. Many people had fallen because of Lucifer.

Because of that, the monster had a full meal and Lucifer was able to escape from the monster. The monster had slowed down a lot because of Lucifer's genius plan.

Not everyone could run away from the monster and push the people around them like Lucifer. He had to carefully observe the people in front and only push the people he could.

If Lucifer tried to push down the muscular people, Lucifer would probably be the one to fall and become the monster's food.

Now, because of Lucifer's efforts, the monster could no longer chase after Lucifer and the rest of the people who had survived from that monster somehow. It had slowed down a lot. But because of that, more than half of the people had been eaten.

But even so, Lucifer did not stop, he tried to run at full speed, using all his strength and stamina. Lucifer did not dare to look back because he was afraid that the image of that slimy monster right behind him would make him faint immediately from fear.

Finally, after running for more than 10 minutes, Lucifer slowed down and looked behind him.

The monster was no longer chasing him and Lucifer was now alone because he had intentionally separated from the people that were running with him just now. By doing this, Lucifer would have no ally, but maybe this was not too bad after all.

In the distance, it seemed that the superheroes were still fighting fiercely with that Crab Gorilla because of a series of explosions happening at that location.

Lucifer had learned from the people in the slums that the monsters in the Trial were divided into different levels: Beast => Giant => Superb => Giga => Tyrant => Legend => God => Leader => Upon everything => Error.

If Lucifer's knowledge was correct, he would have to defeat that crab gorilla monster to be able to escape from here. But based on the strength of that monster, Lucifer could guess that it must be at least Giga level or higher.

A skinny, weak person like Lucifer would definitely not be able to defeat a monster of Giga level or higher, especially when he was all alone.

Lucifer sighed in frustration and thought:

'Well, let's just leave the job of defeating that monster to the superheroes.'

What Lucifer needed to do now was to survive and find a way to defeat that monster if those superheroes failed. Maybe Lucifer should find a vehicle and leave this city and travel around the world to become stronger as well as collect powerful weapons to defeat that monster?

Lucifer looked around the place he was standing, he was looking for a means of transportation because if he just walked, those slimy monsters would definitely catch up with him.

In the distance, Lucifer saw a bicycle shop and a parking lot. Without hesitation, he immediately went to the bicycle shop because Lucifer didn't know how to ride a car.

He chose the most expensive bike for himself because the most expensive things were usually the best.

This was also the first time Lucifer had touched something so expensive like this. It seemed that participating in the Trial wasn't as bad as people said.

He quickly put on his helmet and rode as far away from the Crab Gorilla as possible.

The city was unusually deserted at this moment, although just a moment ago there were still many people gathered to praise the superheroes, but now there was no trace of a human being in this place.

Maybe they had escaped or maybe they had died. Either way, it was none of Lucifer's business. Empty streets meant that Lucifer could ride his bike faster without worrying about crashing.

On the way, Lucifer suddenly saw a few sports cars coming towards him from afar. Curious, Lucifer stopped.

Seeing Lucifer, the other cars stopped as well.

On those expensive sports cars were many people wearing casual, simple clothes, it seemed like they had stolen the cars just like Lucifer had stolen this bike.

Borrowed them to be more exact.

"Why are you guys going this way? Shouldn't you be going the opposite way to leave the city?" Lucifer asked.

Seeing Lucifer, the others were not surprised at all because he had long since taken off his black superhero uniform, now, Lucifer was just a 15 year old boy with disheveled white hair and tired-looking grey eyes.

"Hey kid, I advise you not to go that way. We just tried to leave the city but couldn't. It's like this city has been isolated from the outside by an invisible barrier." The man sitting in the yellow car spoke up.

If what the man said was true, it seemed like the city had completely become a cage that didn't allow anyone to go outside.

'What should I do from now on?'

"We will go now, kid. Try your best to survive!" Then, the sports cars started moving away.

Lucifer looked at those cars and thought:

'I should have asked where they are going.'

Judging from the current situation, Lucifer was completely trapped. The only way for him to escape was to defeat that monster or do something else.

But defeating that monster would definitely not be easy. So now Lucifer needed more time to think of a plan that could defeat that Cab Gorilla monster.

What he needed to do now was to survive in this city for as long as possible. Fortunately, survival was one of the things Lucifer was best at since he had to survive in a slum ever since he was a kid.

Compared to surviving in the slums and surviving in this place, of course surviving in this place would be much easier.

While Lucifer was still pondering, at the location where the battle was taking place, a beam of light was shot into the sky. The beam of light pierced through the blood clouds but did not cause the clouds to disperse.

'What just happened?'

In the next moment, dozens, hundreds, thousands of golden spears shot down from above the clouds at terrifying speeds.

The spears destroyed everything they hit. The once modern city was now nothing more than a pile of rubble.

As for Lucifer, he quickly hid in a nearby convenience store and barely survived.
