Chapter 11 - He, who is Him II

[GUILD CHAT]

[Vampire Ancestor: Greetings, you two especially, I saw the ruckus the two of you caused, I saw records of it after all]

[Weakest Undefeated: Morning, Luminous-san]

[Fourth Calamity: Hello. But I'd like to say, in my defence, Hayes struggled too much, hence I had no choice]

[Vampire Ancestor: Spare me the theatrics. Did you expect her to just sit there and surrender? How unethical, both of you]

At this point, Laurel had returned to his world of pure ice, or as he now called it—

Cocytus.

But now that Luminous had said it, it did seem excessive.

However, it was also for the better good, okay?

Alright, yes, this was a result of his greed, but it still didn't deny he solved one of the problems that'd plagued Lux's world in the future.

It was a win-win for both sides.

Additionally, he'd already given the higher-ups of that kingdom a few tips on survival.

Surely, with their wits, they'd take quick action.

Knowing Relie, she'd definitely go along with that plan even without the higher-ups' consent.

All in all.

Everything WILL be fine.

And thinking of that, Laurel had brashly replied.

[Fourth Calamity: She should thank her lucky stars, I guess]

[Vampire Ancestor: What are you implying?]

[Fourth Calamity: By the way, where's Mei?]

Ah yes. He could tell, the True Ancestor was mad at him for this.

However, he didn't want to explain nor did he want to bother with the explanation unless it was REALLY necessary.

[Vampire Ancestor: You! Tch. Fine, I'll let that comment slide for now. Mei is currently training with Hinata.]

There was a brief pause before Luminous continued.

[Vampire Ancestor: Speaking of Mei—there's something unusual about her, isn't there? I've also noticed some oddities myself.]

In the New Kingdom Atismata.

It was another day of merchants cursing Laurel's name.

Seriously, the frostveil was really an inconvenience, and now that the [All Dragon Battle] was just months away.

Some principalities and theocracy have been sending their worries over to the New Kingdom.

Particularly, the Ymir Theocracy expressed an extreme desire to know at the slightest who Frostveil was.

And Relie Aingram, who was reported as the only one to ever come in contact with, said Knight didn't help matters.

For a monastery like the Ymir Theocracy, they believed the Frostveil to be something akin to an angel.

The reasoning had been that. Even amongst Divine Drag-Knights who could manipulate ice.

Even one of their highly regarded Drag-Knights paled in comparison to him.

Besides that, legend has it that an angel once descended to their land, and due to the immense cold at that time, they had believed this so-called angel.

Thus, at that time, a person had asked back then: Where was God?

Said "angel" back then had replied that God dwelt within each one of them.

However, there would come a day where an agent would be sent down, or something along those lines.

Originally, most had speculated upon who this agent would ever be.

However, with the recent news, and even with the eerily changed landscape, which even until now, this ice wouldn't melt—

They believed this to be the said "agent of God."

'But so far, because of Laurel's actions, most republics are hesitant.'

Perhaps it might not have been a bad idea after all.

But now, more than anything, he held his breath as he waited for the male's answer.

[Fourth Calamity: By oddities you mean?]

Or maybe not. No. He couldn't think that way yet.

This guy definitely knows a lot of things about all of them.

[Vampire Ancestor: You know what, scrap that, while I already possess an idea of what's happening in Lux, however, I have yet to know about Mei's]

[Fourth Calamity: ...]

[Fourth Calamity: Well… That's, hahaha…]

[Weakest Undefeated: …]

[Vampire Ancestor: …]

Certainly, they weren't impressed with the way he replied.

No, they were certain he wanted to attempt to steer the conversation.

Since he knew about them, there was no problem in asking him.

Sure, for Mei's sake, it may be an invasion of privacy, and not that they knew she already knew how dangerous her world was.

[Fallen Heiress: It's fine, you can say it]

Mei had timely dropped the message into the chat.

Obviously, she'd heard from EI and didn't fully wish to believe it, however, she'd heard him mention it quite a while now.

[Fourth Calamity: Mei…]

There was a pause. Then—

[Fourth Calamity: Fine, do you remember when I mentioned Mei's world being dangerous?]

[Weakest Undefeated: I do.]

[Fourth Calamity: When I say dangerous, I mean very dangerous. Let me put it simply...]

[Fourth Calamity: In Mei's world, there exists a phenomenon called the Honkai, though most don't know about it.]

[Fourth Calamity: This Honkai spawns entities called Herrschers, who act as its will to destroy humanity—]

Inside her palace.

The moment Luminous saw that message, her eyes narrowed as she read it.

Destroy humanity?

Such a concept wasn't foreign to her. She was a demon lord after all.

In the past, she'd occasionally seen human nations wiped out of existence on whims of people who you can only call catastrophes.

The likes of True Dragons, Milim, and Guy.

Walking disasters who can destroy the world if they so wished.

Hence, it wasn't surprising. But thinking about how kind of a girl Mei looked, Luminous felt unsettled for the girl.

She's an advocate of beautiful girls, you know? So, this is very much in character.

[Fourth Calamity: Herrschers essentially carry out Honkai's will to end humanity. But, due to a certain savior, Herrschers of the new era can retain their consciousness and resist Honkai's control.]

[Fourth Calamity: Currently, there are about twelve known Herrschers.]

Still no surprise here.

In addition to the Ten Great Demon Lords—though excluding the likes of Karion, Frey, and Clayman in terms of pure strength.

But if you look at it from another point of view, all of them possessed sufficient force to raze down human nations.

Of course, that's if you're not counting a super empire like that of the Eastern Empire.

And even if you ignore the Demon Lords. There are the angels, True Dragons, and even more.

However, what about Mei's world?

Do they possess a mediator like Guy? Or do they possess their own Heroes?

If so, she was curious.

[Fourth Calamity: Continuing on. Mei is apparently the third Herrscher—Herrscher of Thunder.]

A surge of protectiveness stirred in Luminous.

Mei's quiet strength and refreshing beauty had grown on her, and this news only heightened her concern.

[Fourth Calamity: But you don't have to worry anymore about her. Hey, Mei, how well are you both getting along?]

With Mei.

It's really like she'd thought. Laurel was really the one behind it.

So, he already knew of this and acted on this earlier? She couldn't help but feel relieved and thankful.

«So, he really is the one! Damn him! Turning me into this——Reducing me into this state—!»

EI on the other hand seemed to have begun cooking a grudge.

[Fallen Heiress: She's a little bit noisy, but she's also cooperative]

'See. This is the Laurel effect!'

Laurel thought narcissistically looking over the frozen horizon.

Of course, that didn't mean he was ready for the Tensura world YET.

[Vampire Ancestor: I am relieved to know you have handled that. Guess you can also be competent at times too]

[Fourth Calamity: You really insult me, Luminous]

[Vampire Ancestor: Heh! Grateful take that as a compliment]

[Weakest Undefeated: Well, it's not only with Mei-san. Laurel has also caused quite the stir here]

[Fourth Calamity: Oh? As expected, is it with the Dragon Paladins?]

[Weakest Undefeated: Not only them, even the Ymir Theocracy are looking for you, declaring you some "Agent of God"]

[Vampire Ancestor: Oh? I'm interested now]

[Fourth Calamity: Those people, huh?]

And besides, if he wasn't wrong, that one girl, Einfolk, wasn't she from that place too?

The one who wanted to break her engagement with that one certain person before Lux interfered.

"Maa. Let's just dump everything back to Lux."

It wouldn't matter either way. And what's more is that, if that one tries to steal Bahamut's Divine Raiment, it may backfire due to Negentropy effects.

Not to mention, Lux now has someone like Kirihime on his side.

"Haah. I just feel pity for the bunch of them."

[Fourth Calamity: Anyways, Lux, if you come across an Einfolk, help her. It's an order. Oh, and if a princess duels you, accept it~! Additionally, if a blonde-haired decides to duel you, crush her. Without exceptions]

[Vampire Ancestor: ….]

[Fallen Heiress: ….]

[Weakest Undefeated: Those are… oddly specific orders]

Though it looked suspicious, Laurel however, had pure intentions for Lux.

He's helping his bro build his harem.

Due to various reasons, he was worried that some encounters Lux would have, due to meeting them, he wouldn't have them.

So, he did this.

Not that he had a fetish for that, but he's definitely also not interested in stealing other's destined people.

(He has no idea what's coming for him)

[Fourth Calamity: ANYWAYS—! I'll be rooting for you, Lux-kun]

[Weakest Undefeated: I somehow feel uneasy now]

[Fourth Calamity: It's just your imagination]

[Fourth Calamity: And Luminous, you don't have to worry much about Mei anymore. Additionally with me—]

—"My Authority" and the "Guild System."

[Fourth Calamity: —around, nothing bad would happen]

Laurel had boldly proclaimed that.

While he was partially worried, considering how strong she became in the future, he also had to wonder—

But remembering the possibilities of evolution from the Cardinal World, he wasn't exactly worried anymore.

It's simple.

In that world. Do a one plus one, and it becomes eleven. Rinse and repeat said equation till you get a satisfactory larger number.

With that world, it becomes easier, no?

However, while he was in that thought—

[Vampire Ancestor: I believe you are still hiding something from me]

It was a private chat. Luminous had sent a private message to him.

Seeing her message, he couldn't help but sigh.

[Fourth Calamity: Must we go through this again? I fear you, Luminous]

[Vampire Ancestor: You should. Now spit it out—there's more to the story that you haven't explained yet, no?]

[Fourth Calamity: ...How did you know?]

[Vampire Ancestor: One day, Laurel, I will teach you a lesson for underestimating me so much. But that's not our focus right now]

[Vampire Ancestor: From the way she carries herself, I can tell she's from a wealthy family, no? She has the grace and etiquette of noble upbringing]

[Fourth Calamity: Right on the mark. Mei does come from a wealthy family, but... things have changed]

[Vampire Ancestor: And what happened to them? No theatrics, Laurel, get to the point]

[Fourth Calamity: Ouch. Very well—her father was framed and jailed for fraud]

[Vampire Ancestor: The cause behind it?]

[Fourth Calamity: A certain woman who plans to awaken Mei as the Herrscher of Thunder]

[Vampire Ancestor: Very well. Leave that woman to me. I'll take care of her]

[Fourth Calamity: I was planning on handling her myself, but if you say so, I'll leave her to you]

[Fourth Calamity: However, I'll also come with you, agreed?]

[Vampire Ancestor: Do as you please]

Member: [Vampire Ancestor] has gone offline.

Well, things had suddenly started looking grim for Cocolia. But oh well, that's her business.
