It was four in the evening ,the door downstairs making a loud bang as the keys jingled. Regina was back, She always got back home by this time of the day. Her loud footsteps making their way upstairs and sure enough , straight to my room.
KNOCK,KNOCK,KNOCK.
The door quickly flew open, without any response. Classic Regina.
"Hey, when did you get back,"?? she asked dumping her bag on the bed as she sat down to take her shoes off.
"Sometime in the afternoon, I replied with my mouth stuffed with cookie dough ice cream, not bothering to turn and look at her. "It got quiet, so I turned to look at her and she just sat watching me.
"You look like a mess" Regina said. "Are you ok?? she asked.
I sighed, looking away.
"Alright spill, What happened??She asked taking the tub of ice cream , from me.
"I don't know.....I'm just really tired and stressed out, you know. The whole thing with mom, the bills, loosing the house and ....I had my interview today". I said.
"OKK ,soooo how did it go"?? she asked.
"Well.....I'm afraid I messed up, and..."My voice faltered. And I really need this job, you know, I just don't know what to do".
"Would you relax, you didn't mess it up," Regina assured me." I'm sure you killed it."
"I thought I did," I said. "Now I'm not so sure.
"It was true ; I'd really hit it off with the interview. Saphara was a great company and one of the best too, and I was really hoping I could finally put my degree to good use. In school I was the top of my class and my teachers would always praise my work telling me I'd go places and that company's would kill to take me....Now I just hope they were right."
"Enough about me, "I said. " What about you". I asked, turning to look at Regina.
"Thank God you even asked, Regina said returning my tub of Ice cream to me." You know how I mentioned the gig at Saphara on Friday"??
"Yeah, did something happen"?? I asked.
"Not exactly, the thing is". Regina continued. "I don't think I might be able to make it on Friday. The event starts by 4:00 sharp and I have an exam ending by 4:30, I have been looking for a way to work around it, but I don't see a way out, So I wanted to ask for a favor ... could you, please take my place on Friday"?? She asked, putting her doe eyes on puppy dog mode, she really knew how to put them to good use.
"You know you don't have to ask, I'd do it for you, anytime, anywhere. I said a little smile coming to my face . "And it would be so cool ,been at the fashion show, well....even though I would be working it was a good opportunity to take a look at what my future could look like."
"Your right,!!" Regina said with excitement lacing her voice. " Your absolutely right, Your going to be working at Saphara anyway, so it would be a good exposure for you."
" OMG!! R.E.G.I.N.A don't just say things," I said, pulling my hands to my face ,as I tried to hide my excitement. "you know I haven't gotten the Job yet, and I don't think it went so well, I don't want to get so excited and then it ends up not working out.
"What are you saying," Regina quickly retorted. " You're supposed to be positive about it, don't go thinking negative. When you think like that bad things could happen.
"Your right, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have and don't worry I'd be ready on Friday, just give me the details. I said trying to be positive.
"Now your talking, that's more like it, don't worry, I'd feel you in before Friday and tell you all you need to know. So no worries. Regina said holding my hand.
...My mind wondered ."Yeah no worries , I hope."..... but ,I couldn't help but worry.
REED
"What the fuck Where you thinking, you just got back less than a week and you already go and get your self arrested. What were you even doing there, How many time's do I have to tell you to be careful.
Reed had been in his father's study for more than an hour getting scolded about his arrest. But he wasn't Interested in anything his father had to say. He saw it as him repeating the same thing every single time.
" Are you even listening to me," His dad snapped. "You are a twenty six year old man, why do you act like a child, always making a mess for me to clean up. I've had enough of you. I know exactly what to do". He said.
"Huh?? What was that suppose to mean, Reed thought, but he was quickly pulled out of his thought by his father's husky voice.
" Make sure you're ready by Friday. Saphara is hosting a fashion show and Maggie has requested you be present, so get yourself ready.
"What?! But Dad you know we don't get along, she doesn't like me and never approved of me and Susan's relationship, so why would she want me at her show." I asked.
"How I'm I suppose to know." Dad snapped. " With the shit You pulled at her hotel , It's the least I could do to atone for your rubbish, no more questions. Get your self ready for Friday .I have a meeting with the shareholders. I'm leaving , Janice will give you a quick breef about Friday. he said before leaving the office.
Reed following right behind him. Not hesitating to make his way back to his room.
"A fashion show?? The fuck was I going to do at a fashion show. Reed thought. What could she possibly want now. She already doesn't like me, So what is she playing at now.
