Let's play a quick game.
I'm going to name just random, everyday scenarios that the average person probably experiences daily. Think about your everyday routine and see how many of these you come across regularly.
You have different errands to run, events to attend, things to do around town, going to your favorite local hotspot, meeting with friends, and things like that.
There's that cashier at your local grocery store who always greets you with a smile; in fact, you never see her without one on her face.
There's that always-cheerful colleague of yours at work that from time to time, always looks like she wants to say something – but is either scared to or doesn't know how.
There's that sweet, quiet girl you attend Church with who is the most well-behaved child – never doing anything to cause problems or trouble. Her entire family seems so genuine and overall – that family next door, if you will.
That metaphorical cashier – is always smiling and cheerful because it masks how she is feeling deep down inside... scared, fragile, and slowly being broken down by someone who should be a source of comfort to her.
That metaphorical colleague at work – wants to safely get her and her kids away from an abusive husband at home... but doesn't know how to.
That metaphorical girl at Church? Well, she is always well-behaved, on the quiet side, and never does anything to get in trouble because she's afraid of what will happen to her if she does act out. Sure, she is naturally well-behaved after reaching a certain age, hardly ever getting in trouble. But those mannerisms are exacerbated by secretly fearing one of her parents at home.
We never know what battles someone is fighting... things that have gradually become transparent to our very eyes as we casually go about our daily lives.
The same can also be said – for wolves in sheep's clothing.
Keep that in mind.
You never know what goes on behind closed doors.
Please don't pretend like you do.
I can still see the outfit I was wearing... well, sorta. As previously mentioned, I was quite the tomboy growing up. I had these Tweety Bird denim overalls that I was obsessed with, and I always paired them with this red or white matching undershirt.
It happened one day while I was in school in the sixth grade. My Mom worked at the same school I attended at the time, so I rode to and from school – with her. This is why I knew something wasn't right when I was called to the office to see my Nana standing there to pick me up from school... early.
Something wasn't right.
I just knew it.
