Chapter 10 - Elvadeir

Kael had been testing the capabilities of his [Spatial Cloak], and among what he discovered was that he could move while in this state, however, moving consumed more ether.

When Kael is in this state, he can move in a similar way to the movement of ether, manipulating it as he moves.

He also discovered that in this state, his body ceases all activity.

For example, Kael had tested cutting his fingertip with a blade, then activated [Spatial Cloak]. In this state, the blood that should have run down his finger and fallen to the ground never fell. Instead, only when he emerged from this state did his blood finish running and staining the floor.

This means that if he was seriously injured, he could escape to safety using his [Spatial Cloak] and take advantage of the time to recover.

However, not everything was rosy. He also had limitations. One was that he couldn't put one of his limbs into this state separately, as would be the case with a glass of water. He couldn't put just the glass into this state; he had to do it with the water as well.

However, the limitations didn't end there. There was another: he couldn't use his [Spatial Cloak] on an inanimate object and move it as he pleased, as he could with himself. But this was limited to objects not attached to his body.

For example, Kael could be holding a knife in his hand, and as long as his [Spatial Cloak] enveloped both him and the knife, he could carry it with him, even if the knife was an inanimate object, just as was the case with the clothes he was wearing.

And so a year passed.

*****************

More than four years had passed since Victor died and came into this world.

Over time, they gave him more privileges, allowing him to enter more rooms, which had previously been locked.

One of those rooms was actually a library.

One of the maids gave Kael some keys, one of which led to the library. Kael's goal was to enter the library and learn some history.

The library was located on the north side of the mansion, just below his own room, behind the stairs that led from the second floor to the first.

And so, he headed toward his goal.

Upon arrival, he placed the key in the lock and turned the handle, opening the door. Upon entering, he saw 10 bookshelves, all filled with books, almost reaching the ceiling and measuring 3 meters in height.

Next to Kael was a rather old desk, behind which sat an old man in his 70s or 80s. He sat in a rather comfortable chair, with a beard and white hair that reached his neck, quietly reading a book. Despite Kael's entrance, the old man paid no attention to him.

—Hello, old man. Where can I find the history books?— Kael said, his voice still immature and tone flat, as he stood in front of the desk.

—My name is Frederic, and don't forget to lock the door— said Frederic, taking a few seconds to respond, without providing an answer.

—Fine...— Kael said, a bit of reluctance seeping into his voice.

Kael approached the door, closing it, and then returned to the desk, waiting for an answer.

—History? Uh, they're in the middle of shelves 5 and 6— the old man said.

—Fine, thank you— Kael said, but without any gratitude in his voice.

Kael approached where the history books were supposed to be, looking up and down the shelves and from left to right as he walked down the 1.5-meter-wide aisle, searching for a book.

Finally, he picked up a book from the right shelf, which was located in the middle. The cover read "From the Ether to 1015."

«Funny... According to other books I've read, I'm in 1020, so that means this book was finished shortly after I was born» Kael thought.

«But that's a coincidence» Kael thought, as he opened the book.

The book said: "Humans discovered the existence of Ether through meditation in the year 130. It was then that we learned that this energy existed, capable of improving our physique..." the text continued.

«So, Light and Darkness were the last elements to be discovered, in the years 349 and 521 respectively, and now I emerged with the element of Space» Kael thought.

And so a week passed.

*********************

Kael continued reading books, hoping to gain more information about this new and wonderful world.

From the books he read, he discovered that it is located on a continent called Elvadeir, ruled by King Darío Saavedra, who gave his father's ancestor, Drake, the title of Márquez and his land, which is located in the northwestern part of the continent and which his ancestor named Faulkner.

This is where Kael Faulkner, son of Marquis Drake Faulkner, was born.

The castle where the king lives is located in the center, from the continent, protected and surrounded by his loyal vassals, just like Drake.

«But there's little point in having a king, Anyone can rise to power and usurp the throne, unless they rule with anarchy from the dawn of the Aether, recruiting all talents, which they do» Kael thought.

«I definitely have to hide my talent» Kael thought, with some resolve on his expressionless face.

However, that's not all. On the border with Elvadeir lies a whole unknown world, unexplored lands, and dangers.

In this world, there are also monsters, and like humans, they are also capable of forming nuclei and manipulating the aether, doing so by instinct, and some very rare classes are capable of manipulating the elements.

Venturing outside the continent of Elvadeir is practically a sure death, yet the king organizes expeditions among his groups of knights to explore the land.

After all, monsters don't stay still, and when they attack, they cause too much damage. When a terrifying monster decides to attack, an entire city could be wiped out.

That's why they have land, preferably humans, so they can form alliances and resist with greater strength.

In fact, there are no animals in this world, only monsters.

However, not all monsters are as deadly as they are portrayed in the books. Some can be tamed and raised as pets or livestock, depending on how many cores they have.
