Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Beginning

Chapter 2: Beginning

~Third POV~

[Kanto Region, Pallet Town – Near Route 1]

In Pallet Town, a small group of kids was seen in the grass field near the outside of Route 1, with one little girl holding a Poke Ball at the Pokémon, giving off a low growl. The Pokémon in question is a light-purple, quadrupedal mammalian Pokémon. It has several darker purple patches across its body.

It has large, spiny ears with teal insides, narrow black eyes, and a long snout with two pointed teeth protruding from the upper jaw. It has a ridge of toxic spines on its back and a long-pointed horn on its forehead. The horn is harder than a diamond and can secrete poison on impact. Its short legs have three claws on each foot.

"Rrrnn…"

The Pokémon is a Male Nidorino. The little girl attempted to capture it, listening to one of the other kids failing to get it, "My turn, my turn!"

Along with the small group of kids was a Bug Catcher speaking out, doubting the little girl's skill to capture the Nidorino, "D'you really think you've got a chance?"

The girl snorts at the Bug Catcher before replying to him and throwing her Poke Ball at the Nidorino, "Oh, be quiet. I'm gonna catch this Pokémon… and make it my personal pet! Watch this! Go Poke Ball – Huh?"

*Bonng*

The Poke Ball bounced off, making the little girl sad at the turn of events. Mumbling confused, "I-It b-bounced off…? What did I do wrong?"

Soon, a boy, at the age of 11 years old, comes around with a red cap, black hair, and a trainer outfit, teaching the group of little kids, "Hahaha! You can't catch a Pokémon like that! Tsk, tsk. If you want to catch a Pokémon… first, you gotta weaken it then throw the Poke Ball."

Preparing a throwing position, the boy soon threw out, revealing his starter Pokémon, instructing the little kids in an excited tone, "For instance… try this! Go Poliwhirl! Give it a Water Gun!"

Coming out from the smoke of its Poke Ball, it revealed itself to be Poliwhirl, a blue, bipedal amphibian Pokémon with a spherical body. It has bulbous eyes that protrude from the top of its head. A black and white swirl covers its belly, which is its organs showing through its thin skin. It appears to have white gloves on its hands and rounded, digitless feet.

Poliwhirl, coming out soon, released Water Gun from his glove, blasting the Nidorino and causing it to weaken. It growled in sudden confusion, with the kids acting surprised by the turn of events.

"Wow!"

"It looks dizzy!"

*Pon*

The boy immediately threw his Poke Ball at the Nidorino, catching him inside as the boy explained to the kids around him in a chill tone, "Yeah! An' now that Nidorino's weak, I throw the Poke Ball and…"

*Riggle*

*Niggle*

*BON*

Listening and watching the Poke Ball tilting till the Nidorino was finally caught, the boy began to show it off successfully, capturing the Nidorino excitedly said, "Haha! Gotcha, Nidorino!"

"Cool!"

"That was great, Red!"

Red, hearing the achievements he has gotten from the kids around him, began to internally monologue, enjoying his moment, 'Everybody knows me in Pallet Town, and why not? I'm the best Pokémon Trainer around!'

The kids soon began to follow Red as one of them questioned him about Professor Oak in town, "Hey, Red, do you know Professor Oak?"

Looking confused, Red responded nonchalantly, not caring about the Professor, "The old guy at the edge of town? What about that weirdo?"

Then another kid responded about how Professor Oak could help them in a cheerful tone, "Well… people say he knows a whole lot about Pokémon. Maybe he can teach us a thing or two about how to catch them…"

But Red, shrugging at that with his open arms, responded to the group of kids in a lighthearted tone, leading the way, "You don't need that old nut. I'll teach you everything you need to know."

One of the other kids began to reply, thinking about Red's offer, "Maybe… but they say Professor Oak taught his grandson to be one of the world's greatest Pokémon trainers. He's been studying overseas for a long time. He just got back."

Red, on the other hand, isn't impressed in the slightest as he arrogantly responds to the kids, "Hmph!! I don't care who he is—he doesn't stand a chance against me!! For sure!"

As Red was declaring such claims, unaware a person who was 11 years old was listening in on the conversation as he began to rest on a nearby tree and muttered excitedly, "So this Red from the manga, huh? Guess I'm truly in the Pokémon Adventures world hehe…"

Standing up and stretching his body, Azure Sky, wearing a traditional Pokémon Trainer uniform with a hat, smirked, muttering, "Welp! Time for me to get a Pokémon, huh? Let the games begin!"

~Azure S. POV~

[Kanto Region, Pallet Town]

Arriving into this new world, I couldn't help but shake in excitement. I mean, living in the Pokémon world has gotta be a childhood dream for some people, right?

But as much as I want to start exploring, I gotta make sure I prepare myself properly for the future ahead. Now for the important stuff.

Managing to exit Route 1 into Pallet Town, I decided to check my Arc Phone. And to my surprise, it gives me detailed plans on how to make the perfect recipe for different Pokémon species of different natures.

Not only that, but it also informs me how to teach my Pokémon moves the hard way. Now, that'll be very handy to have and powerful for me to have this early on. I suppose my cheat is knowledge is power.

[Observe].

[Location: Pallet Town

Description: Pallet Town is a small town located in southwestern Kanto. It is the hometown of Red, Blue, Oak, and Green. Professor Oak's Laboratory, where the famous Professor Oak conducts his research, is located in the town. The town has two exits. To the north is Route 1, leading to Viridian City. To the south is Route 21, a water route leading to Cinnabar Island. A small country town, home to Professor Oak's lab.]

Smiling at this, it seems like this town is very peaceful. Wandering around the area, I began to witness Red teaching kids to help capture a Pokémon while I saw him confront a gang of Team Rocket Grunts in the flesh as I recalled the very beginning of the Pokémon Adventures Manga Red and Blue.

Seeing it in the flesh certainly has a different feeling, to be honest. It's not Ash I was met with but rather Manga Red, making me feel all kinds of dangers I just stumbled into this world.

Sucking in some nice air I began to exhale thinking of a plan of how I should go about this? I tried to recall anything from the Manga series.

Remembering what happens next, I suspect Red is going to stalk Team Rocket Grunts in the hopes of finding the Phantom Pokémon, AKA Mew, nearby. From what I can remember, didn't Red carry with him a large bundle of Poke Balls trying to capture Mew only to fail to even battle it?

Well… I do need some Poke Balls, honestly, if I'm going to get some cash, but I know I can't get one normally because I don't have legal rights to purchase them, but if Red were to say lose them, then it's no issue.

However, I already have 10 in my possession. No need to risk my life for that but extra cash would be helpful.

In this world of magical wonder but with downright terrifying creatures that can kill you, unlike the anime, in a more realistic view of things happening. At least Mewtwo will not be an issue, unlike in the anime, at least.

After waiting around a bit longer, I finally see Red taking out many Poke Balls. All of them are empty except for one that is around his belt, in plain view.

Huh? Well, ain't that something.

I guess the Poke Balls also show what Pokémon the person has in plain view; that is something to remember.

But anyway, I ignored the Poliwhirl inside as I was more concerned by the fact that I needed a Pokémon. You gotta be a Pokémon Master somehow, right?

[Kanto Region, Sunset, Pallet Town – West Woods]

Seeing the day is turning night soon, following Red into the West Woods as they call it here in Pallet Town. I stealthily followed the 11-year-old boy behind a couple of trees nearby, just far enough to keep my eye on him.

My eyes soon turned towards the group of Team Rocket Grunts, with one of their captains speaking out loud, "It must be hiding in the General Area!! Do not rest until you find it! Find the Phantom Pokémon! We haven't searched the West Wood yet! Comb it to the last blade!"

Rushing out further ahead, I held my breath, taking careful time to look at Red, tailing him as the day was turning somewhat sunset but then too dark, but my eyes were quite literally on the balls here.

Listening intently to Red and his actions, tip-toeing along, I managed to hear his whispers, looking around his surroundings, "Great… they didn't get here yet. Where ain't you, li'l Phantom Pokémon…?"

Not going to belong to you, that's one. But not to me too so… damn it.

"Now! Charmander, go!!"

Seeing Red's attention to Blue's battle with Mew, listening to the sounds of electricity and fire in the area ahead. I see Red drop the Poke Balls, rolling away, catching the attention of the battle ahead of him as my eyes are on the Poke Balls rolling my way.

5… 6… 8… 10.

10 Poke Balls were just an arm's reach as I smirked, thanking Red for his help in obtaining these Poke Balls. I grabbed them quickly as Red was too distracted by the battle in front of him. I would do the same.

*Bzzt*

*Bzzt*

*Bzzt*

As I was catching them, I smirked, having extra cash to sell them. At least I have a chance, as I saved the 10 Poke Balls into my [Sub-Space] for safekeeping, having 20 at the ready.

But survival beats excitement with literal lightning strikes can be heard the first thing I need is to focus on my survival first thinking of taking every opportunity I can in this situation the best I could.

Taking the Poke Balls away, I immediately began to set up to leave behind Red, knowing the kid would do well on his own, but I just needed him to cause one distraction for me one more time while I secured myself a Pokémon from Professor Oaks' lab.

I remember he had a Mewoth inside his lab that can only be found in another Route, not anywhere nearby here, so that means he has other Pokémon inside that I can hopefully convince to join my team as a starter Pokémon. Or better yet, a Pokémon Egg if I can't convince any of them.

Or I can just ask the man. It couldn't hurt, right?

I did recall Green stealing a Squirtle from Oaks lab in the earlier part of the story. She managed to somehow convince the Water Pokémon to join her thieving team in the future, and I'm honestly contemplating whether I should take their Starters.

Bulbasaur and Squirtle before Professor Oak could do anything about it. It could change the whole story drastically, but it would incredibly help my own goals a lot quicker with them on my side.

Then again, they were important later down the line for the final battle against Giovanni, having Deoyxs, I think! Damn it the Adventure series is going to be annoying to remember everything again since it has been a while.

Hmm… Should I reconsider stealing from Professor Oak, though?

I do recall that Oak had security cameras all around the place. It might be best not to try my luck too much here; I guess wearing a mask would also do it as well.

It is better to prepare to get at least one Pokémon to follow my commands. I need time to go around and prep some things before the time comes.

I can only hope I can find a pretty good Pokémon. Honestly, even a Weedle or Caterpie would do.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. But is it worth it stealing from the MC of this world, though?

… No… It's my life over theirs; I need to do what I need to do.

But if I take it, then real bad news in the future when I do… sigh… why me…?

*Rustle*

While quickly running away, I began to hide in a nearby bush with a wooden tree branch that looked about the size of a Team Rocket grunt. I saw a group of Team Rocket grunts come past by, looking at Red, then at Mew.

Seeing one nearby, I didn't hesitate what to do next… Time to run away like a bitch!
