Chapter 4 - Chapter 3- Day 1: Let the games begin part 2

"Anyway, lets talk about the rules contestant number four."

I look at the woman who magically healed my arm. She had brown hair with the tips blond, and she had light skin. She wore robes similar to what Roman gods are depicted wearing, and she was also wearing a strange mask; her golden eyes were the only thing visible. The mask was all black with a golden outline, it had the shape of a sun.

"Who….who are you?"

"I am Vaji, the one and only disciple of my lord Malum Solis." She starts to explain like it's common knowledge," He is the God of misfortune and trickery. And you," she says, pointing at me, "Are going to help me gather energy for him, you see, in order for me to get energy for him i have to host a game of sorts with twelve participants, each of them will kill each other for a nice show and meal for the glorious Malum Solis."

Though I couldn't see the look on her face, I could hear the ecstatic tone in her voice.

"Wait a minute, what the hell makes you think I'll participate, and another thing, how do I know this is all real and not a dream? First, I see a naked grey monster kill a little girl, and you magically heal my arm like it's nothing!"

I want to believe what I'm saying is true, but the pain I felt was too real for it to be a dream.

"Oh, you little human, I feel so sorry for your little amount of knowledge."

The words sound like pity but her voice sounded like she was just disgusted that i didnt just believe the bull shit she was spouting.

"Anyway belive me or not human you will find when you wake up that you cant escape due to a thick fog i casted around the town, if you go in, you'll just die or a worse fate will befall upon you."

The words 'Worst fate' scared me a bit. What does she mean by that? Is there something worse than death in the fog?

"So what, I'm just supposed to kill a bunch of people for some god?"

"Yep thats about it, your prize is you get to live, but when you kill them make sure to make your way to the tower so i can confirm it, and dont think about lying or ill kill you where you stand."

The tone of her voice was cheerful when she said the last part. I can't believe she's treating our lives like livestock to some bogus god I've never heard of.

"Well, that's about it contestant number four, off you go."

And with those words, I suddenly woke back up in the cart. At first, I thought it was just a dream, but when I saw the bloody axe in my hand, my stomach dropped faster than it ever had before. I decided to hide the axe behind my belongings because I think it would be just weird if I were seen lugging it around. Anyway, I make my way out of the train, and lucky for me, no little girl or grey monster. When I get off, I see eleven other people waiting outside.

"Sleeping Beauty finally woke up huh?"

I hear the sound of what sounds to be a little kid. I look to see where the voice came from, and I see a boy around the age of fifteen or sixteen with dark skin and curly hair.

"Did he have it too?"

"He must have if we all had it."

"Hey Carter, sorry if this is a little weird, but did you have a dream of some woman telling you were in some killing game?"

Zaki started to walk up to me and explain that everyone had fallen asleep and had the same dream I had, minus the girl and naked grey guy, but that's besides the point. But while we were sleeping, the train had crashed, and everyone was waiting for all of us to wake up.

"Look, I think before going on any further, we should introduce ourselves so we can-"

"Look asshole this isn't kindergarten where not going to hold hands and sing kumbayah!"

The young man had interrupted the older man, who looked in his twenties, like me, and looked similar to the boy, but with blue eyes and taller.

"Now, now, Kyle, we should introduce ourselves. It might help to know each other's names."

Zaki said while patting Kyle's head.

"Tch, whatever, do what you want, but I'm not saying anything."

"I'll go first, my name is Malik."

The man Kyle interrupted spoke up, Malik was a foreign accountant with a little bit of an accent.

"My name's Jah, and that's Don, that's all you need to know."

One of the Men in matching suits spoke up while pointing at the other.

"I'm Shmal."

Another dark skin man spoke. Shamal turned out to build cars for a living.

Everyone else went and introduced themselves. The only ones to stand out were a girl named Jayden, who was a nurse, and two twin brothers, Ronnie and John, who were entrepreneurs. The last two people we just saw on their way back home, like me.

"I think we should make our way to the tower to get answers, the woman said she's waiting up there."

"Yeah, she also said that we need to kill each other…"

Kyle grumbled while Malik was speaking.

"Malik's right," I speak up, "We should head in pairs to town."

Though I used to live here, the terrain has changed in the 5 years I was gone, so I needed someone to go into town with me, just in case something happens.

"Great idea, let's go, Zaki."

Kyle says ecstatically while dragging Zaki into the woods.

"Haha, I'll see you guys later."

Zaki says with a half-hearted laugh. People slowly started to pair up and go in different directions. Me and Malik were the only ones left.

"So…you wanna team up?"

I ask Malik. He looked at me with a smirk.

"Yeah sure, let's go."
