Yes, we've been together for years—long before you came into the picture," Emma said with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. "We've done everything a couple could possibly do."
My heart sank. I stood there, speechless, while Luca just stared at her. He couldn't even look at me. He didn't deny it. He didn't defend me. He just… stood there.
I couldn't take it.
"I… I have to go," I mumbled.
I turned and walked out of the office, made my way to the elevator, and slammed the button for the ground floor. The moment I stepped outside, I got into my car, turned on the engine, and drove off—anywhere, I didn't even know where I was going.
Before I realized it, I was in front of Emily's house. My hands were shaking like I'd been caught in the rain. I knocked. Knocked again. She opened the door and immediately pulled me into her arms.
"What happened? What's wrong?" she asked, worried.
I broke down and told her everything—every single detail. She hugged me tight, comforting me through the tears. That same evening, I decided I needed to go home. I had to hear it from Luca, face to face.
When I entered the house, I immediately noticed the mess in the living room—clothes scattered everywhere. A pair of pants. A bra. Not mine.
My heart raced as I headed upstairs to what was supposed to be our bedroom.
I paused at the door. Voices. I told myself to calm down, that maybe I was overthinking, but my gut already knew.
I pushed the door open.
There they were—Luca and Emma—half-naked on our matrimonial bed. My heart sank deep into my stomach. I stood frozen, the image burning into my mind.
Luca didn't say a word. He couldn't even meet my eyes. He just sat there in shame—or maybe guilt.
"Are you going to just stand there and watch us, or can we continue?" Emma said, smug, like she owned everything.
I didn't reply. I simply turned and walked out. I got into my car, started the engine, and drove out of the compound.
I felt like I was losing my mind. I returned to Emily and told her everything. She looked me straight in the eyes.
"Aria, you are not weak. Are you really going to sit back and let that man cheat on you like this in marriage?"
It hurt. But her words gave me strength. I knew what I had to do.
The next morning, I had an important meeting at 11 a.m. I couldn't afford to miss it.
Still, my mind was spinning. All I could think about was divorce.
After the meeting, I gathered my courage and returned home.
Luca was sitting in the living room, remote in hand, flipping channels like nothing had happened. I stepped in quietly, but Emma's voice came from the hallway: "Baby, are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Luca replied.
She was still in my house—like she belonged there.
I cleared my throat sharply. Luca turned to see me.
