Chapter 10 - BLANK STARS

~LIGHT CLUB HOUSE- 8:30PM

As Snow made her way through the crowded club, her eyes scanned the room for Charlotte, the girl she had come to meet.

She had heard great things about Charlotte's cosmetics line, and she was eager to get her hands on some of the products.

Just as she spotted Charlotte across the room, Snow's attention was diverted by Charlotte's words. "Hey, isn't that your boyfriend over there?" Charlotte asked, nodding towards the bar.

Snow's eyes followed Charlotte's gaze, and her heart skipped a beat as she saw Oliver slumped over the bar, a drink in hand.

She felt a surge of surprise and curiosity - what was Oliver doing here, and why was he drinking so heavily?

"How did you know about that?" She asked the lady and then she quickly gave her reply still dancing.

"Are you kidding me right now?? You guys are the most trending couples in Crestview University right now." She finished and then left Snow to continue dancing.

Snow made her way over to Oliver, her heels clicking on the floor. As she approached him, he looked up, his eyes glassy and unfocused. "Hey, Here comes our Sassy, controlling and Undefeated queen, Snow ," he slurred, a goofy grin spreading across his face.

Snow's eyes narrowed, her lips pursing in annoyance. "What's going on, Oliver?" she demanded, trying to keep her voice above the music. "Why are you drinking so much?"

Oliver's grin faltered, and he looked down at his drink. "Just trying to drown my sorrows," he muttered, his voice barely audible.

Snow's curiosity was piqued. "What sorrows?" she asked, her voice softer now.

Oliver looked up at her, his eyes locking onto hers. "You've never been heartbroken, have you, Snow?" he asked, his voice laced with a mixture of sadness and accusation.

Snow felt a pang of surprise and defensiveness. "What are you talking about, Oliver?" she asked, trying to keep her cool.

But Oliver just shook his head, a bitter smile twisting his lips. "You're always so in control, Snow. You've never let anyone in, never let yourself feel vulnerable. You don't know what it's like to be heartbroken."

Snow felt a surge of anger and hurt, but she pushed it aside, trying to focus on the situation at hand. "Oliver, you're drunk," she said, trying to reason with him. "Let me take you home."

Oliver nodded, his eyes drooping. "Yeah, okay."

"It's not just for humanity, you owe me a favour. Okay?" She spoke but Oliver was loosing consciousness of himself fast. He managed to agree with a thumbs up.

Snow helped Oliver to her car, feeling a mix of emotions as she looked at him. She was angry and hurt by his words, but at the same time, she couldn't help but feel a pang of concern for him. What had happened to make him so drunk and despairing?

As she drove him home, Snow couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

Oliver's words had struck a chord deep within her, and she couldn't help but wonder if there was some truth to what he had said.

Was she really as in control as she thought she was? And what did it mean to be heartbroken, anyway?

As she pulled up to Oliver's dorm, Snow turned to him and said, "You owe me a favor, Oliver. Don't think I'm doing this out of the goodness of my heart."

Oliver looked up at her, his eyes bleary. "Yeah, okay. I owe you one, Snow."

Snow nodded, feeling a sense of satisfaction. She would make sure that Oliver paid her back, one way or another.

As Snow helped Oliver out of the car, she couldn't help but notice how heavy he was. She struggled to keep him upright as they made their way to the stairs.

"Come on, Oliver," she urged, trying to keep him moving. "Just a little farther."

But as they reached the top of the stairs, Oliver's legs gave out, and he slumped against the wall. Snow quickly moved to support him, and as she did, their bodies pressed together.

For a moment, Snow felt a jolt of electricity run through her body. She was startled by the sudden sensation, and her heart skipped a beat. She couldn't believe what was happening.

What is going on? she thought to herself. Why am I feeling this way?

But as quickly as it had started, the moment was over. Oliver's weight shifted, and Snow was forced to grab him to prevent him from falling.

"Oliver, come on," she said, trying to keep him upright. "Let's get you inside."

With a Herculean effort, Snow managed to get Oliver to the door of his suite. She knocked on the door, hoping someone would answer.

The door opened, and William's surprised face stared back at her. "Snow, thank you so much for bringing him back," William said, rushing to help Snow support Oliver.

"No problem," Snow replied, smiling wryly. "But I think he owes me one."

William chuckled and took Oliver from Snow. "I'll make sure he pays you back," William said, smiling.

As Snow turned to leave, she noticed something on the floor. It was Oliver's phone, and she realized she must have picked it up when she was helping him.

She turned to go back inside, but William had already closed the door. Snow decided to follow him and drop off the phone.

As she entered the suite, she didn't notice Violet standing on the stairs, watching her with a curious expression.

Snow walked into the living room, looking for William. "Hey, I think Oliver dropped his phone," she said, holding out the device.

William turned around, relieved. "Oh, thanks so much, Snow. I'll make sure he gets it."

As Snow handed over the phone, she noticed William's curious expression. "What's up?" she asked.

William leaned in, lowering his voice. "He's on a rough break in his relationship almost about to end but he loves her so much and doesn't want to."

Snow raised an eyebrow. "Oh really?? The girl must be__"

William hesitated, looking around the room nervously. "Must be what??."

Snow's words were piqued. "Nevermind that."

Violet stood frozen on the stairs, her eyes fixed on the scene unfolding before her. She had been on her way to meet Oliver, hoping to work things out between them, but now she felt like she had stumbled into something she wasn't meant to see.

Snow was helping Oliver, supporting him as he stumbled towards his room.

Violet's eyes narrowed, her mind racing with questions. What was going on? Why was Snow helping Oliver?

As she watched, Violet felt a pang of unease. She had missed Oliver, and she had been hoping to reconcile with him. But now, seeing him with Snow, she felt a twinge of jealousy.

°°FLASHBACK°°

Violet sat on her bed, her eyes red and puffy from crying. She had been feeling down all day, ever since her argument with Oliver.

She didn't know how to process her emotions, or how to deal with the pain that was tearing her apart.

Just as she was starting to feel like she was all alone, there was a knock at the door. "Violet, are you okay?" Minnie's voice called out.

Violet sniffled, wiping her nose on her sleeve. "Come in," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Minnie opened the door and slipped inside, closing it behind her. "What's going on, Violet?" she asked, concern etched on her face.

Violet took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. "It's just...Oliver and I are on a break," she said, her voice cracking.

Minnie's eyes widened in surprise. "On break how?? I thought you guys were just friends " she asked, plopping down beside Violet on the bed.

"We were not." Violet claimed and explained everything to Minnie. "You didn't bother to tell me or Snow about him. What did you take us for??" Minnie queried her with all seriousness.

"Don't tell me you were ashamed of him." Minnie quickly asked her and Violet nodded slightly. "That was the problem. I didn't want you guys or any other person mock me for dating a guy below my financial status."

Minnie scoffed, "Are you kidding me right now? What are we? Best friends!! Hello.. What kind of hellish best friend make fun of their other little b!tch."

Violet joy was content. Minnie held up her hands. "Listen, V. We would never make fun of anything you love."

She reassures her and they hugged.

"That was sentimental." Violet smiled. "Yeah it was, Now tell me what happened with Oliver."

Violet shook her head, feeling a lump form in her throat. "It's just...we've been having problems for a while now. And I don't know if we can work through them."

Minnie nodded sympathetically. "Do you still miss him?" she asked, her voice gentle.

Violet nodded, feeling tears prick at the corners of her eyes. "Yeah, I do. Every time I think of him, I miss him. I really, really love him, Minnie."

Minnie smiled softly. "Aww, Violet, I'm sure he loves you too. You guys will work through this. You're meant to be."

Violet smiled slightly, feeling a small sense of hope. "You think so?"

Minnie nodded vigorously. "Totally! Now, tell me what happened. What's been going on with you guys?"

Violet took a deep breath, launching into the story of her and Oliver's problems. Minnie listened intently, asking questions and making supportive noises.

As they talked, Violet felt a weight lifting off her shoulders. She realized that she had been carrying around a lot of guilt and shame, and that it was time to let it go.

"I was ashamed of him, Minnie," Violet admitted, feeling a surge of emotion. "Ashamed that he wasn't up to my status."

Minnie's eyes widened in surprise. "Violet, We would never judge you for who you're dating."

Violet felt a wave of shame wash over her. "I know, Minnie. It's just...I don't know, I felt like I was compromising myself by being with him."

Minnie shook her head. "Violet, love isn't about status or money or any of that. It's about finding someone who makes you happy, someone who loves you for who you are."

Violet nodded, feeling a sense of clarity wash over her. "You're right, Minnie. I need to let go of my pride and try to make things work with Oliver."

Minnie grinned, hugging Violet tightly. "That's the spirit, Violet! Now, go out there and fight for your love!"

°°FLASHBACK ENDS°°

As Snow exited the room, she noticed Violet standing by the stairs, looking lost in thought. "V, what are you doing here?" Snow asked, curiosity etched on her face.

Violet snapped out of her reverie, looking up at Snow with a hint of confusion. "What? Oh, I was just...looking for something."

Snow raised an eyebrow. "You're looking for something here?"

Violet shrugged. "Yeah, I guess."

Snow's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Well, I was just dropping Oliver off. He passed out at the club, and I decided to help him get home."

Violet's expression changed, her eyes narrowing slightly. "The club? What club?"

Snow chuckled. "Just a club I went to. I saw Oliver there, and he was completely drunk, so I figured I'd help him out."

Violet's face remained neutral, but Snow could sense a hint of tension beneath the surface. "No problem, thanks for helping him," Violet said finally.

Snow smiled. "No worries. Are you okay? You seem a bit...distracted."

Violet shook her head. "No, I'm fine. Let's just...get back to our suite."

Snow nodded, leading the way down the stairs. As they walked, Violet's silence was palpable, and Snow completely understood what was going on with her.

They eventually reached their suite, the tension between them still lingering in the air.

★THE NEXT DAY★

Snow sat attentively in her Business Administration class, taking diligent notes as the professor lectured on marketing strategies.

As the class drew to a close, Snow packed up her belongings and prepared to leave.

Just as she was about to exit the classroom, Charlotte appeared at her side, flashing a bright smile. "Hey, Snow! I'm so glad I ran into you."

Snow returned the smile, happy to see her new acquaintance. "Hey, Charlotte! What's up?"

"I'm having a party tonight, and I'd love for you to come," Charlotte said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "It's going to be a blast!"

Snow's face lit up with interest. "That sounds like fun! I'd love to come."

Charlotte grinned. "Awesome! You can bring your boyfriend, and feel free to invite any of your friends you want. The more, the merrier!"

Snow nodded, already thinking about who she could invite. "Sounds good to me. What time should I come?"

Charlotte pulled out her phone and checked the time. "How about 7 pm? We'll get started around then."

Snow nodded, making a mental note of the time. "Got it. I'll be there."

With that, Charlotte waved goodbye and took off, leaving Snow to wonder what the night's party would bring.
