Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Entrance I

This is a work of fiction. All characters, events, organizations, and settings depicted are entirely fictional and created for storytelling purposes.

It was a normal day—at least for most. But for the freshmen of a certain school, today was anything but.

Yosen High,

The sun had just risen when the Creed brothers arrived at Yosen Magic Affiliated College, precisely at 7:30 Helia Standard Time.

Freshman orientation wouldn't begin until 9:00, but arriving early never hurt.

Everyone did, eager to step into such a prestigious institution.

Excited students streamed through the gates, chatting as cherry blossom petals drifted in the breeze.

The campus buzzed with anticipation, the first day bringing nervous energy and high expectations.

Yosen's campus was as massive as many remembered from the entrance exams.

But this was no ordinary school—it was a self-contained academic city. To study here was an honor.

Towering gymnasiums, specialized buildings, and entire wings dedicated to simulations sprawled across the grounds.

This was where the elite trained to become heroes.

"Kaiden, you're spacing out."

A young man with sakura-colored hair and an androgynous physique spoke up.

The one he addressed had dark hair streaked with green, emerald eyes, and glasses that fit his sharp features.

Handsome, no doubt—especially with the sagacious air about him.

"Hmm." Kaiden hummed in response, eyes still fixed on his book.

"Lucas, you should know better than to distract Kaiden from his books."

The speaker had black hair streaked with white, golden eyes, and a lazy expression.

"Y–yeah! Wait! My name is Lucas, not Lussac!"

For some reason, the new speaker—whose name was—Shane had decided early on to call Lucas Lussac, and no matter how many times Lucas corrected him, Shane refused to stop.

Lucas hurried after the three walking ahead.

"Pipe down. You're too loud."

"Eek."

The one who spoke had a darker complexion than the others—tanned skin, white hair streaked with black.

His sharp gaze settled on Lucas, who flinched under the scrutiny.

"Aren't you… being too harsh on him?" The speaker was a white-haired male, looking even more exhausted than the second.

The four—no, five—Creed brothers wore their Yosen uniforms: casual black, white, or gray outfits with the Yosen insignia stitched somewhere on them.

There were no strict rules about customization, as long as the color scheme and insignia remained intact.

"But since you aren't a Yosen student yet, coming to school like this might be a bit much."

Shane—the black-haired, golden-eyed one—mused, hand on his chin, before dismissing the thought with a wave.

"Anyway… Enma and Lussac will head to the SC office," Shane said lazily. "SC?" Lucas blinked in confusion.

"Student Council," Shane replied with an obvious look before handing Lucas a stack of papers, sighing as usual.

"Enma's got business there anyway, so it'll be quick."

Lucas took the papers, still adjusting to Shane's laid-back attitude.

"Here. Everything you need. And don't worry—"that" also already taken care of."

Shane added, waving a hand dismissively before walking off with Damian—the tanned male.

Lucas stared at the papers in his hands, somewhat stunned. It was just as the others had said—they had long stopped questioning Shane's connections.

However deep they ran, they didn't want to know.

"Alright then, we'll be heading off too."

Enma turned to Lucas, motioning for him to follow as they made their way toward the administrative building.

 - Inside the Administrative Building -

Lucas trailed behind Enma at a comfortable pace.

Compared to the others, he was much easier to keep up with—probably because he was lazy.

Well, except for Kaiden. His pace was slow too, but only because his attention was always buried elsewhere.

Even though Enma wasn't as intimidating as Damian or Shane, Lucas still couldn't completely relax around him.

"So… you're the student representative, huh? That's pretty cool."

Lucas blurted it out impulsively and immediately regretted it.

Enma sighed, offering a wry smile—the kind that suggested he'd long since given up fighting against life's, or rather, his brothers' whims.

"Believe me, I didn't want to be."

They reached the second floor, still one short of their destination. The Student Council office was on the top floor of the third building.

"It was supposed to be Shane or Kaiden." Enma shrugged. "Shane wasn't interested, and Kaiden outright refused."

"So... we settled it with Rock Paper Scissors."

For real? Lucas' lips twitched at the absurdity. "This is a magic-affiliated school... a national college, you know?"

He mumbled to himself.

But knowing the Creed brothers, Rock Paper Scissors was something they would do, yet he was still surprised by the fact that Enma had said this so nonchalantly.

"Everyone lost. No—more like this… Damian…. didn't even play—he wasn't interested—and Shane…. lost on purpose."

Lucas felt his lip twitch again.

An elite institution, and the student representative had been chosen through a children's game.

Baffling… yet exactly what he'd expect from them.

Additionally...... Was Enma sulking?

Lucas stole a glance, but Enma had already returned to his usual laid-back demeanor.

Before he could say anything else, they arrived at the Student Council office.

A knocking sound was made of the high-class mahogany door that gave off a fragrant scent.

In a brief second, the reply came from the other side of the door, saying: "Enter."

With a soft nod, Enma had replied "pardon my intrusion," before pushing the door open as they stepped inside.

The office smelled faintly of fresh paper and polish, giving it a crisp, new feel.

Behind a neatly organized desk sat a beautiful woman with black hair that shimmered with subtle blue undertones.

She wore a customized version of the Yosen uniform—white with gold and blue accents.

"Welcome."

She looked up from her computer, her sharp gaze locking onto Enma.

For a brief moment, something flickered in her expression—just the faintest trace of recognition.

As she did, Enma's usual relaxed demeanor faltered slightly as their eyes met.

"Uhm..."

"Ahem. Enma Creed. Freshman Representative, welcome." She said, standing and offering a nod. "Welcome to Yosen Magic Affiliated College."

 - Meanwhile, Outside the Administrative Building -

Kaiden sighed heavily, rubbing his temples. 'Haah…' In front of him, a commotion was already brewing.

"Tsk! Do you know who I am? How dare you bump into me!"

A cocky—gangster? Wannabe thug? All of the above—freshman snapped, glaring at Damian.

However, characteristically of his brother—Damian who had simply brush off his sleeves while replying in a tone that had that dangerous underlying in them.

"I already apologized. What more do you want?"

But the fact he hadn't acted against the freshman meant their second eldest was in a good mood.

"Damian, just chill out! Please!"

Shane, for once, was trying to deescalate the situation—scratch that, perhaps, he was secretly trying to escalate it.

After all, he of all of the Creed seemed to know Damian the best.

Yet, it was just like them—if any of their acquaintance saw this, no doubt, this is what they'll say—It's only the first day, and the Creed brothers were already caught up in trouble.

So… how did it come to this? One might wonder.

They'd been heading toward the auditorium when Damian somehow bumped into the arrogant-looking freshman.

Technically, Damian had apologized, but to Kaiden, it looked deliberate—like the freshman had done it on purpose.

"Oh? A fight?"

"First day, and we've got drama already?"

"This should be fun."

A crowd of both freshmen and upperclassmen began gathering. It was clear this whole thing had been staged.

Not surprising.

The Creeds had swept the top rankings in the entrance exams, drawing attention from students, faculty, and Magic Affiliated Families alike.

Enma had placed first in both physical and magical categories and third in the written exam.

Kaiden had come second in both the written and magical exams, though his physical ranking was seventh—not surprising, since he wasn't the physical type.

Damian had placed second in the physical test, third in magical, and fourth in written—though only because he couldn't be bothered to try.

And now, it seemed their success had painted targets on their backs.

"Oi! Twerp, what are you gonna do about the stain on my shirt?"

The freshman sneered, despite there being no stain in sight.

Shane on the other hand, uncharacteristically stepped forward, raising a hand to diffuse the situation—which made Kaiden eye him with suspicion.

Normally, he'd be the one escalating things, a fact that clearly surprised both Damian and Kaiden.

If Shane knew what they were thinking, he'd have retorted—What do you all take me for?

While clearly hiding his motives.

"Look, it was a mistake. Can I just—"

"Huh? Who the fuck is this peasant? No wonder I smelled something foul."

Damian took a double take on that sentence. After apologizing once, Damian wasn't gonna take a shot at repeating his words twice.

If anything, Shane was the one he'd been wary off.

Additionally, he didn't want to give Enma more stress than Shane already gives him—Not when he was now a prospective student council member.

Kaiden by the sides cringed inwardly. This isn't going to end well. At best, he'd used his "bindings" on the freshman before things escalate.

His hands had subtly twitched thinking so, before—

"What's going on here?"

A woman in the female version of the Yosen uniform stepped in. But more than her uniform, what stood out was the red armband wrapped around her arm—a symbol everyone recognized.

The freshmen had seen people wearing that same armband during their entrance exams. She was part of the Disciplinary Committee.

"What happened here?"

The instigator fell silent the moment she stepped in. Seeing as they wouldn't speak up, Shane cut in. "Nothing! I was just asking for directions, that's all."

He shook his head, but his usual carefree expression was absent. Even Damian looked slightly caught off guard.

"Directions...? I doubt that," the woman mumbled under her breath.

It was impossible.

The entrance exams had taken place on this very campus—there was no way they didn't have at least a vague idea of the layout.

Shane was lying. She knew it. But it was clear he was doing so to de-escalate the situation, not stir it up.

Amused, she decided to humor him.

"Then what's with the crowd?"

She asked, eyeing the group skeptically.

"A little argument. Nothing worth escalating." Shane shrugged.

At his words, she nodded. But she decided to take it further. As though to tease the freshman.

"Is that so, but I could have sworn I sensed the activation of a supernatural ability there."

"Hm. Must be your imagination."

Shane had immediately shot her down with a shake of his head.

If a supernatural ability was about to be activated, there's no way he of all people wouldn't know.

And the only person that came close to doing that was Kaiden.

"I see, then, I guess there's no point pushing this further. If that's all, you can go."

The female had eventually said that relenting with a sigh.

"Haah, what a farce. I'm out." Damian ruffled his hair and walked off, clearly uninterested since the authorities had intervened.

As she dismissed them, the crowd slowly dispersed.

Shane, feeling the lingering gaze of the disciplinary committee member, gave her a quick nod before following after Damian, with Kaiden close behind.

"Shane, what would you have done if she hadn't shown up?" Kaiden asked as they neared the auditorium.

Shane shrugged.

"Who knows? Though I was surprised by Damian's level of control. I half-expected him to go, 'Oi! You were the one who bumped into me, you buffoon. Clearly, you lack respect,' while looking down on him in true Damian fashion."

Kaiden sighed, tilting his glasses up. "Yeah… I can definitely imagine that."

Shane said the weirdest things sometimes, but Kaiden had to agree with Shane on his statement—"past Damian" would have reacted exactly like that.

The subject of their conversation walked ahead, his eyelid twitching as he clearly heard every word.

They didn't even try to be subtle. They just said it.

Straight to his face.

Damian's irritated expression lingered—then faded as he came to a stop. Before them stood the auditorium.

The same one they—no, all Yosen students—had once entered for their entrance exams.
