In the peaceful season of autumn deep inside the forest there was an orphanage for kids whose parents where no more, inside the orphanage there is a boy sitting under the trees drawing in his notepad.he looked up enjoying the endless breeze. He heard screaming coming from the orphanage direction he sighed, today is going to be a hectic day he said.
Twice a month the sponsor comes to see the kids and today being the second time this month. But something was different this time
The others screams were louder he got up from the ground dusted his clothes and went to see What's the commotion was about
Dylan pov
I pushed through the crowd to see what was going on only to find that the man that always visited us came with a little boy this time, roughly around a year older than me he was surrounded by the other kids, especially the older kids. I didn't really care much and walked towards the hostel to sleep.
After much , tossing and turning I got up from the bed and went to my usual hideout which was behind some grasses that grew in the garden until dinner time I went there to continue my drawing when a person quickly came and sat next to me breathing profusely like he just ran a race.
He had his backed faced to me so I didn't see his face suddenly I heard the other kids calling a name I haven't heard in the orphanage before, when the kids left the guy breathed a sigh of relief and turned to seat down that's when our eyes met he jumped In shock and shifted away from me.
'Why did you scare me like that' he asked
I looked at him with on unbothered look and said.
'I didn't scare you I have been here the whole time it's just you that didnt notice, This is my spot'.
'Oh I didn't know someone was here, Please let me stay here at least till They stopped looking for me' he said
Why where they chasing you I asked
'I guess they wanted to talk to me but it was getting overwhelming and the camera men where suffocating me and I needed some air so I ran' he said
What are you doing here he asked curiously looking at me draw in my book
Before asking that Isn't it polite to introduce yourself first i said not looking up from my drawing book.
'You don't know me' he asked looking shocked
'Am I supposed to' I replied
I didn't attend the gathering so I don't know u
'Oh sorry my name is Lucas,Lucas brown' he said
'My father is sponsoring this orphanage' he said proudly
'What of you, what's your name' he asked
'My name is Dylan I don't know my surname'
I said.
'You've been drawing in your notepad for a while what are you drawing' he asked.
I'm drawing a skyscraper I saw it in one of the books in the library, It's one of the places I would like to go when I leave here.
He wanted to ask more but the bell rang signifying it's dinner time I closed my book and gathered my things ready to head back.
He followed behind me and we both entered
The dining room at the same time he went to seat beside his father and I sat at my seat in the long table I feel the eyes of the other kids glaring at me but I ignored them.
The man I later know what's named Mr brown who was talking to the head priest in the orphanage turned to his son and asked him how his day is he told him everything including the encounter with me .
Which I could tell made the others hate me more than They already do but I didn't mind I was used to this I didn't have friends at the orphanage so I was basically alone all the time.
I couldn't take the glaring anymore and excused myself to go to the bathroom.
Once I was done washing my face I tried to leave but was locked inside I didn't panic cause I was used to their bullying.
I told the priest but he dismissed it as child's play I simply had to wait until someone releases me at this moment I wished I had brought my drawing book. It was the only source of my joy.
At this point I know that dinner is done cause I was hearing people footsteps and voices but anytime I banged the door they ignored me making me believe it was Brian that locked me in cause everyone is afraid to go against Brian because he's the head priest favorite.
I don't know why, but Brian has made it his life mission to make my life miserable in anyway possible and no one dared to stand against him.
My stomach growled making me wish I ate more at the dinnin table i curled up by the side of the door hoping sleep would come and take me cause I'm sure they will leave me here all night.
Suddenly the door flew open and in front of it was Lucas he saw me on the ground and rushed to my side
'Are u ok,why where you trapped in here
I asked the boy that went after you why you haven't come back and he said you have gone to bed so I went to find you after dinner and I didn't see you so I started looking for you he said
I'm fine I said not wanting to stay here a second longer I tried getting up but stumbled back he caught me.
Are u really ok, are you sure you don't need a doctor your body is cold he said
'Thank you for helping me' I said pushing myself away from him it won't do me any good if Brian saw us like that.
That night I slept in front of the library no one goes there so it's the safest place for me to go that night. The next day the other kids escorted mr brown and his son to their car while I watched through the window although it was short it was nice to have someone who cares for me like that.
After they left Brian and the rest barged into my room and said I show not talk to the boy ever again i oh told them it's fine that I wouldn't meet him again.
