Chapter 2 - A World so Unfair

Most people said that life is a blessing. You should be grateful that you were born. But in my case..should I be grateful?

"Floranza!!" A familiar yet discomforting voice called out my name.

I walked to where the voice was coming. "yes, mother? Is something wrong?" I'm used to this.

Loud voices.

The sound of things banging.

Shouting.

Suddenly the woman slapped my face"Look at you, all comfy in your room. Go cooked us dinner. Don't just go around and do nothing." The woman in front of me sigh. How many times have she sighed today? I don't know. I've lost count.

This woman was my mother. Elena Evadore. What a shame for a name so good and graceful to be given to such person, right?

I nodded my head. As usual. "Yes mother, I'll do that now.." I go to the kitchen. Cook whatever it is that we have to make something eatable and put them on the table. There was a middle age man already sitting on the table. He didn't even looked at me as I handed them the plate and serve them food.

"Sister, you're not eating with us?" A cute little voices came from beside me. My cute little sister.

"Aline, don't bother talking to her, she's such a burden to the family. Let her eat after all of us have eaten." The usual cold voice came from the unbothered man earlier. Right. He's always like that. What am I waiting for standing here beside the table. Waiting to be invite for a family dinner? Get a grip.

I patted the head of my cute little sister, Aline Evadore. "Go ahead and eat, don't worry about me." I put on a faint smile. Just to assure her that I'm fine.

The little girl nodded. Then I went back to my room. Laying in bed as usual. Thinking of things that I never understand.

"Where did everything goes wrong? Is it the moment my little sister was born..or the moment I get older?" I don't know.

My name is Floranza Evadore. I'm 17 years old and I am one of the unlucky woman out there who was born to an abusive family and boring life.

My father and mother always fights and argue like the world's about to end. Aline always comes to me when it happens. Seeking my comfort. Of course, I love my cute little sister.

At school I didn't have many friends. Just one or two. Enough to have someone to talk to at school.

"Florie!" That was my nickname at school and I know who's the owner of that voice.

"Yes Luna?" I sit up straight and put on a smile.

"You're sleeping in class again." Her voice sounds like she's mad but her expression looks the same as always. Friendly.

"Yeah, I haven't got much sleep lately, why?" I just answered her so that she'll get straight to the point.

"lets hangout after school, my place!" Her voice sounds like she's excited. So I can't possibly reject her, right?

I smiled faintly. "Sure, what time?"

She grins. Her lips all curled up to her cheeks. She's really that happy?

"2p.m. you're free?" She asked for my confirmation.

I just nodded. Now that I think about it. It's the first time she ever asked me to come to her house ever since we became friends.

I transferred to this school two months ago. Because my parents have some problems at our old town. So I just followed them like a good daughter.

The school's finally over. I went to search for Luna. She walk out earlier than me. Oh, that's her. I saw her in front of the school gate.

"Lu––" I stopped my words halfway. I saw her with her other friends. They were walking together. Seems like heading to the arcade. "Haha..of course...what am I expecting.." I sighed. She must've forgot.

I just walked straight back home. Not feeling anything. Not happy. Not sad. Nothing.

I reached home and opened the door only to find the metal spoon flying to my head. I didn't reacted. Not even flinch. I could feel liquids falling down my forehead. Was it blood? I don't know. I don't care and I just walked straight to my room. Take a tissue and wipe it off.

Outside was so loud. Things flying here and there. As usual. It's like their daily routine. Then a knocked on my door. I know who it is without hearing a voice.

"Come in, it's not locked." I said. Then Aline came rushing to me and hug me. I hugged her back and patted her back. Soothing her. Comforting her. "It's okay..don't worry.. they'll calm down soon." As if. Once they start. It won't end unless an hour or more pass by.

Aline fell asleep in my bed as two hours pass by. It's finally quiet again. I sighed and lay down beside her. Staring at the ceiling.

"How boring. It would be great if I could be someone else..living a different life..away from all this chaos.."

I close my eyes. Trying to sleep and forget all my problems.

Hours pass by. The clock ticking sounds so loud because of the silent room. Not even the sound of a bird to be heard. I open my eyes. Saw Aline still sleeping peacefully by my side. I brush her hair out of her face and smiled.

"How unlucky both of us are..Aline" My voice echoed in my room. It's so quiet. Almost feels like quiet before the storm.
