Chapter 6 - there is something off

Amos's eyes opened in surprise as the creature revealed itself. When the black envelope that had covered the figure dissipated, it revealed a tall man, elegantly dressed in a black suit, with equally dark hair, pale skin, and blank eyes. "Let me introduce myself. I'm Cloack, the one who will help you throughout your assimilation process."

Amos, confused, looked at Cloack with a furrowed brow. "Assimilation process?"

Cloack looked at Amos, a slight smile on his face. "I still can't go into details, but for now, the emptiness you manifest isn't even a quarter of its potential."

Amos raised his eyebrows, questions piling up in his mind. "How do you know that?"

The creature stepped closer, his tone dulling. "I saw the massacre you committed against your kind—the ones who captured you and the human female."

Amos's suspicion deepened. "So you were there. Why didn't you do anything?"

Cloack sighed, attempting to appear as an ally. "I have no right to intervene in your actions or in what happens to you. I can only speak to you—and even that, with certain restrictions."

Frustrated, Amos clenched the sheets on his bed. "Then why did you save me when I almost die at the school ?!"

Remaining calm, Cloack replied, "I didn't directly intervene. I only stopped time and uncovered your powers. But even that was considered direct interference."

Amos, clearly lost in Cloack's vague words, muttered, "Why is this happening to me...?"

They remained silent for a moment, tension rising.

Amos broke the silence, voice softer. "Sorry, it's just... it's frustrating. None of your answers really address my questions, and these powers bring back memories I wish I hadn't remembered..."

Cloack sighed again and stepped away. "I think I should leave. But first, let me warn you—when you use the Void, it consumes you from the inside out. The effect varies depending on the user, but something tells me it's different for you. That's probably why Vyran chose you."

Amos, even more confused by these words, more questions appear in his mind "Vyran ? User ?"

With those final words, Cloack vanished. Time resumed, the room's colors returning. Amos lay back on his bed, glancing at Leah, a look of determination forming on his face. "I don't want to lose her. I have to hold on."

The sunlight woke Amos. When he opened his eyes, he saw Leah, dressed in the Glory Academy uniform.

Amos sat up, rubbing his eyes. "Why are you dressed like that?" he asked, confused.

Leah, who was combing her hair, dropped her comb and turned with a smile. "It's obvious, right? I wanted to make you the surprise."

Amos frowned. "What are you talking about?"

Leah grinned brightly. "I'm going to the Glory Academy with you! Mrs. Glory accepted to send me there for studies"

Amos sighs "Let's stop calling her Glory, it's confusing who owns the academy, let's just call her Vanessa"

Amos and Leah walked along the road to the academy, both in uniform. Amos glanced at the bag Leah was carrying—it looked familiar.

"Isn't that the bag you bought with me?"

Leah smiled, pleased that he'd noticed. "Yeah. It looks good on me, doesn't it?"

Amos smirked. "Yeah, it looks as silly as you do."

Blushing, Leah punched Amos on the shoulder. "Hey! That's not funny."

Amos laughed, only making her pout more.

When they arrived at the academy gates, Leah was stunned by the vastness of the place.

"Wow... that's big."

"Impressive, isn't it?" Amos said, grinning.

They entered the courtyard. As they walked, some students stepped away from Amos. Whispers followed him. Amos noticed the stares and his expression darkened. Leah saw it too.

"Why do some students avoid you?" she asked.

Before Amos could answer, the boy who was gonna to kill him before all of this stepped in front of Leah, trying to flirt.

"Hey there, beautiful. You're new here, right?"

Leah blushed, flustered. Behind him, Amos, not liking to see him approaching her, shot a cold, murderous glare,

The boy turned, sneering. "Aren't you the one I was going to destroy?"

Amos smirked, eyes narrowed. "Correction: I'm the one who put you in your place."

A crowd began to form. The boy, irritated, grabbed Amos by the collar.

"you're gonna pay—"

But he stopped. Amos's eyes—dark, empty—were staring straight into his soul.

"Don't touch me."

The boy immediately let go, stepping back.

"You don't scare me," he said, voice trembling. Trying to regain control, he began to emit an aura.

Amos was surprised, but not intimidated. He stepped forward.

The pressure Amos released froze the students in place. Leah, watching from behind, didn't recognize the Amos she knew.

Before anything escalated, a voice cut through the tension.

"Hey, what's going on here?"

A girl with scarlet-red hair stepped in. But something was different about her—like Amos and the boy, she gave off a powerful aura.

Amos stood frozen.

"What did Cloack say about aura...? I remember... They're not normal students, are they?"
