Chapter 4 - Terror !

Aiden stood at the edge of the entrance to the Second Zone, a massive archway formed from jagged stone that seemed to pulse with an otherworldly energy. The air around him felt denser here, as if the very atmosphere was heavier. The ground beneath his feet trembled faintly, a low vibration that spread through the soles of his boots.

He had crossed the threshold into Zone Two, but it didn't feel like an achievement. It felt more like a step into a nightmare.

The system had urged him to stay back, to continue farming in Zone One until he reached Level 30, but his curiosity had overridden any sense of caution. The Crawling Wolves in Zone One were barely a challenge anymore. At Level 25, he had grown stronger—faster, tougher—but this new zone, this was something else entirely.

"Proceed with caution, Aiden. The monsters here are far more dangerous than the ones you've faced before," the system warned, its voice carrying an eerie calm that somehow managed to unsettle him even more. "You have not yet reached the required level to face the trials of this zone. Level 30 is the recommended threshold."

Aiden ignored the warning. His feet moved before he could even think, and soon, he found himself walking deeper into the darkened landscape of the second zone. The ground here was cracked and barren, covered in twisted, gnarled roots and half-buried rocks. The sky was a murky gray, swirling with ominous clouds that seemed to pulse with an unnatural light.

As he ventured further into the zone, the temperature dropped, and an eerie silence surrounded him. His instincts told him to turn back, to heed the system's warnings, but there was something else pulling him forward—something primal, something that urged him to step into the unknown.

Suddenly, the ground shook beneath him. A deep, rumbling growl echoed from behind him, followed by the sounds of footsteps—massive, thunderous steps, growing closer by the second.

Aiden whipped around, and his eyes widened in disbelief. A huge beast appeared from the swirling mists ahead—its skin was an ashen black, thick and scaled, with eyes like molten gold. It was a Vasuki Indicus, a creature of nightmares. It was serpentine, its massive body coiling and slithering across the ground, its head towering over him, its fangs glistening in the dim light.

The creature's eyes locked onto him, and it hissed, its forked tongue flicking out as it bared its teeth. Aiden could feel the pressure of its gaze, like it was sizing him up. He had faced wolves, crawlers, and even the Alpha—but this? This was a whole different level.

The Vasuki Indicus let out a deafening roar that shook the very air around him. Aiden's heart raced, his pulse thundering in his ears. He was barely Level 25, and this creature—this massive serpent—was far beyond anything he had ever encountered. He barely had time to react when it lunged at him with terrifying speed.

Instinctively, Aiden rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding the snapping jaws of the creature. The ground beneath him cracked as the Vasuki's body smashed into the earth. The sheer force of its movement sent a shockwave through the air, knocking Aiden off his feet.

"Stay back, Aiden," the system urged, its voice now tinged with an edge of urgency. "You are not prepared for this fight. Run."

But Aiden didn't move. He couldn't. The serpent's massive body was blocking his way out. He looked around frantically, trying to find any escape, but the Vasuki Indicus was relentless. Its tail lashed out, sweeping across the ground with a speed that was hard to follow. Aiden jumped to his feet, just managing to avoid being crushed by the tail.

But then, as if the creature wasn't dangerous enough already, something unexpected happened.

A flicker of movement to his right caught his eye, and before he could react, a figure appeared—rushing toward him with incredible speed. It was a boy, around his age, with yellow eyes that gleamed like gold. He wore a ragged cloak, and in his hand was a gleaming sword, its blade as sharp as a razor.

With a single, fluid motion, the boy swung the sword, cutting through the air in a blur of motion. The blade collided with the Vasuki's massive body with a loud clang, sending sparks flying.

The creature recoiled, hissing in pain, but it quickly retaliated, lunging at the boy. The young warrior leapt backward, narrowly avoiding the strike, and with a quick twist of his sword, he slashed at the serpent's tail, causing it to writhe in agony.

Aiden watched in awe. The boy moved with a fluidity and precision that Aiden could never have imagined. He was like a blur of motion, too fast for the serpent to react to. But even so, the Vasuki Indicus was a beast unlike any Aiden had faced before. It wasn't going to go down easily.

"Who are you?" Aiden called out, his voice filled with disbelief. "Why are you helping me?"

The boy didn't answer at first. Instead, he focused entirely on the Vasuki Indicus, dodging its attacks with ease. He was clearly experienced—far more experienced than Aiden.

"You're in the Second Zone now," the boy said, his voice barely audible over the sounds of battle. "Things here aren't as simple as they were in Zone One. You're not ready for this fight. But if you want to survive, you'll need to level up fast and work together."

Before Aiden could respond, the boy rushed forward again, his sword flashing as he slashed at the serpent's underbelly. The creature let out a roar of pain, and Aiden took the opportunity to strike, plunging his dagger into the monster's side. The Hunter's Mark on the Vasuki Indicus flared to life, and he could feel his strikes doing more damage.

The battle raged on, and for the first time in a long while, Aiden felt alive. He wasn't alone in this fight—someone was there, fighting beside him. He didn't know who this boy was, but for now, it didn't matter. They had a common enemy.

After what felt like an eternity, the Vasuki Indicus let out one final, blood-curdling scream. Its massive body slumped to the ground, and Aiden's heart stopped as the serpent's head crashed into the earth with a thunderous boom.

For a moment, there was silence.

The boy stood over the fallen beast, breathing heavily but unfazed. Aiden approached cautiously, still trying to process what had just happened.

"That was incredible," Aiden said, his voice filled with awe. "Who are you?"

The boy finally turned to him, his yellow eyes studying Aiden with a strange intensity. He gave a small smile, though it didn't reach his eyes.

"I'm someone who's been stuck in this hell for a long time," the boy said, sheathing his sword. "The name's Jin, and it looks like you and I have a lot of work to do if we want to get out of here."

Aiden nodded, the reality of the situation settling in. The Second Zone wasn't like Zone One. The stakes were higher. The monsters were stronger. And Aiden had only just begun to scratch the surface of the challenges that lay ahead.

As Aiden stood next to Jin, watching the remnants of the Vasuki Indicus slowly disintegrate into dust, he couldn't help but feel a strange sense of relief. For the first time since he'd been cursed, he had a companion. But he also knew that this was just the beginning. The Second Zone was only the first step, and whatever lay ahead would push him further than he could ever imagine.
