Huff Huff
Jack awoke in a pool of sweat, his memories were fuzzy and felt too real. Did he really did punched?
His eyes slowly wondered around the room and found the scenery unfamiliar. Pots of fragrant plants sat underneath a window, soaking in the sunlight. Two shelfs sat on the opposite side of the bed he was laying in, on them were various labeled boxes and liquids in small glass jars.
He wasn't awake for long before he was interrupted.
Creak
The door opened and an old man walked in, his face was weathered by age but his beard was as straight as the blade that had almost pierced him earlier.
"You're up already, huh. Even after taking a hit like that you should still be out of it for at least another day, I mean you don't even have an ounce of muscle on your body to cushion the blow."
The old man switched between speaking to Jack and himself as he reached on the shelves and grabbed a box and vial of liquid, from it.
"You're lucky you lived through a hit like that."
The man spoke as he approached Jack before mixing the herbs in the box with the liquid in the vial, then giving it to him.
"Drink it, you'll feel better."
Being in a unknown situation he had no reason to trust the man leading him to start asking questions before deciding his next plans.
"Where am I and who are you?"
The old man's face stayed the same showing he was prepared for his reaction.
"You are at the 'Martial Academy' in the infirmary and I am the head doctor here." When he finished talking his hand moved up to his beard and he started to slowly stroke it.
"What do you mean by 'Martial Academy'? Are we not on Earth?"
The old man was prepared the second set of questions threw him for a loop.
"The Martial Academy is where young adults gather to train in martial arts. Its a right of passage for any aspiring martial artist of your age. Now your second question is very interesting, you take of this place called Earth, but this old man who has traveled all around has never heard of such a place. Are you sure you haven't lost your memory?"
'I'm not on earth? Then where am I."
"If we are not on Earth then where are we?"
"I assume you are asking on a global scale, in which case, we are on the planet Murim."
'Shit'
Jack couldn't come up with any other words as he felt resigned to his fate. The Murim of his world only existed in comics and webtoons and if this world was similar than he had no chance of surviving.
Demonic Cults, Powerful Sects, and Obnoxious Young Masters.
There was no reason to look forward to this new world. He grabbed the drink the doctor prepared for him, a part of him wishing it was poison so he would have a painless death.
"Well, I'll leave you to recover before you participate in the entrance exam."
As the doctor left the room Jack fell back on the bed and let out a giant sigh. He was interrupted again, but this time by an invisible voice.
[You were smooth back there with the Heiress of the Heavenly Dragon Clan.]
He recalled the situation and remembered the kiss that happened by accident, causing him to blush as it was his first kiss ever.
'Wait who said that.'
He looked all around but found no one.
[I do not exist tangibly so you can not find me with your eyes.]
Jack swallowed his saliva as he realized it was reading his thoughts.
'Are you gonna kill me?'
[I am here to help you. Just think the words 'Status']
Jack finally realized what was happening, he was getting a system just like the characters from comics. He did as he was told and a holographic screen appeared in front of him.
[Name: Jack Frost]
[Rank: None]
[Qi: 0]

[Quests] [Inventory]
'Well this is a little lackluster isn't, System.'
[It's not my fault you have no training. I am unable to just hand you power you must work for it yourself.]
His dreams of leaving an easy life being overpowered disappeared in an instant and he found himself blanking staring at the sorry state of his status.
'Is there anyway for me to return to Earth?'
[You will be able to return after surviving in Murim for a year. Unfortunately for you, that is much easier said than done, but I will do my best to assist you.]
Jack decided it was best to rest and laid back in the bed, before succumbing to the tiredness that was in his eyes.
*** A Few Hours Later
Rays of sun shone through the window next to the bed Jack was laying on. He was able to ignore the sun and continue to sleep, but when he heard the door creak open he knew he would be unable to keep resting.
"Hello, I'm here to obtain your information before you participate in the entrance exam."
Looking up he found a built man in front of him. Even with the loose clothes he was wearing it was clear that he was a martial arts practitioner.
"What information do you need from me."
"Your name, what clan you belong to, and experience in martial arts."
"Jack Frost, no clan, and no experience in martial arts."
Jack wasn't sure exactly how he would survive in Murim for a whole year but he knew that his best chance would come from being accepted to a school that taught martial arts.
"Alright Jack, now that I have your information I need you to follow me to the testing site."
Nodding he followed the man out of the infirmary he had been resting in and shortly made it outside. Looking around he found the academy sat on a giant mountain that was above the clouds. The man gestured for Jack to follow him down a set of stairs.
When he glanced down the rows of stairs he found that he could not even see the end.
