Chapter 10 - Summons

Now that Ishiki had the knowledge he sought, he began keeping an increasingly low profile in the village.

But tensions in Konoha were rising.

The war with Kumogakure was escalating. More and more shinobi were being dispatched to the front, and a steady stream of wounded were pouring back into the village from the battlefield.

The hospital—barely stabilized after the Nine-Tails' Rampage—was now back under immense pressure. In the chaos, Ishiki grew rapidly more adept at medical ninjutsu, and he took the opportunity to conduct another quiet investigation of the facility.

He had a gut feeling.

His time at Konoha Hospital was running out.

Among other findings, Ishiki discovered an abandoned operating room—a place that had seen many emergency surgeries during past conflicts. There, he deployed Moody Blues.

The Stand replayed procedures, patient after patient, letting Ishiki absorb a trove of medical knowledge and rarely taught techniques.

The most valuable? The Mystical Palm Technique—a high-level A-rank medical ninjutsu.

A senior medical-nin had once taught students in this room and provided an in-depth demonstration of the technique, explaining theory, chakra modulation, even answering their questions.

For Ishiki, the footage was priceless.

He carefully recorded everything. Over the following days, he threw himself into studying Mystical Palm, pouring hours into training and review.

He also gained practical surgical experience by observing countless operations. He was constantly scribbling notes, quickly filling notebook after notebook.

With Moody Blues able to mimic him using the technique, and real-life surgical data backing him up, Ishiki's mastery grew fast.

By mid-month, he could already use Mystical Palm to stabilize a dying lab rat—holding it on the edge of life.

He couldn't fully heal it yet—partly due to his lack of clinical experience, and partly because his chakra reserves were far too limited for extended treatment.

Mystical Palm didn't just speed up tissue regeneration. It demanded an enormous amount of chakra, precise control, and a good grasp of Yang Release transformation.

That he'd made it this far so quickly was a testament to the combined power of the Sharingan and Moody Blues.

Without those two—eyes that let him track chakra flow in detail, and a Stand that let him replay and correct every mistake—he might've needed years to even get started.

But his research uncovered another inconvenient truth.

One he'd already glimpsed while studying the Fourth Hokage:

Many elite shinobi, after mastering a jutsu, began to streamline their hand seals.

For Ishiki, this was a nightmare.Trying to reverse-engineer a jutsu from abbreviated hand signs made the whole process significantly harder.

Still, he reminded himself that even this challenge came with a silver lining:Learning the jutsu in its advanced form gave him a deeper understanding of its workings. Once mastered, he too would be able to streamline seals later.

A blessing and a curse.

November 20th.Ten days until his next Stand refresh.

Ishiki was on duty in a patient ward when a masked ANBU, wearing a crow motif, appeared in front of him.

"Kūjō Ishiki. The Hokage summons you."

He calmly set down his clipboard and followed.

At Hokage Tower, Ishiki found many ninja already assembled, quietly filing into the Third Hokage's office.

As soon as ANBU called for him, Ishiki understood the purpose of the summons.Seeing the other shinobi only confirmed it:

Deployment orders. The war with Kumogakure had officially pulled him in.

He only wondered—who would be on his team?

Scanning the crowd, Ishiki noticed that Renge wasn't present. He felt a bit of relief.

He wasn't afraid to go to war himself. But if Renge were deployed too—and he didn't yet have the strength to protect her—that would've been a problem.

He did spot several familiar faces:

Might Guy

Hayate Gekkō

Yūhi Kurenai

And a certain silver-haired teen…

Kakashi Hatake, unmistakable even in a crowd.

Ishiki greeted everyone casually, then stood aside to wait his turn.

He was surprised at the composition of the group. Most were Chūnin.Only a handful were Genin, and even fewer were medical-nin like himself.

Ishiki understood his own capabilities clearly.

With three-tomoe Sharingan activated, even with his small chakra pool, he could hold his own against a regular Jōnin.

Without the Sharingan, relying only on Mystical Palm and the few jutsu he'd mastered, he could handle a typical Chūnin and maybe escape a Jōnin if he was lucky.

His biggest concern?

His current Stand, Moody Blues, wasn't suited for battle. It was a tracking and analysis-type Stand—great for investigations, but practically useless in combat.

Not that Stands could be fully trusted either.Next month's draw might give him another support ability—something worse than Moody Blues, even.

JoJo had plenty of weird Stands—time-stopping powers, sure—but also ones about cooking, beauty, video games…

If he drew one of those, he'd miss Moody Blues dearly.

Eventually, Ishiki's turn came.

Inside the Hokage's office, he found three others already waiting.

"Uchiha Shisui, Yamashiro Aoba, Mirina, and Kūjō Ishiki. The four of you will form a squad,"said Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage."You're being sent to reinforce the front lines against Kumogakure. Your mission details are in this scroll."

He tossed the scroll toward Shisui, clearly assigning him squad leader.

Ishiki recognized the names instantly—two of them, at least.

Uchiha Shisui. The prodigy. The one they called "Shisui of the Body Flicker."

A genius even by Uchiha standards.

And if Ishiki's memory served, Shisui's Mangekyō Sharingan housed the most powerful genjutsu in the entire series:

Kotoamatsukami—the illusion that could rewrite someone's will without them realizing it.

He couldn't remember exactly when Shisui awakened it.His knowledge of the timeline wasn't perfect. He wasn't one of those fans who memorized every age, date, and event down to the episode.

He knew the big picture—but not the fine print.

If Shisui had already awakened it, that was ideal.

But if not…

That could be a huge problem.

Uchiha eyes didn't awaken new powers out of nowhere. They needed emotional trauma—intense triggers tied to bonds, loss, grief.

Ishiki couldn't remember if Shisui had any surviving family.

But friends?Squadmates made the perfect emotional catalysts.

Yamashiro Aoba, a future Hokage Guard, was unlikely to die—not unless Ishiki's presence drastically altered fate.

Which left…

Mirina.And himself.
