Kuro quickly opened his eyes, as he jumped out of his bed. His alarm clock had rigorously pulled him out of his sleep. Fueled by his rage, he maniacally checked his surroundings. Nothing was to be found.
He lived alone, thus there was nobody who could have seen the young man who fell into despair by the absence of... something irregular.
"Did I dream? Was all of this just my imagination?". He started to question his sanity. The brown haired man looked around his room, nothing changed. As he looked down on his body, he noticed he was slightly more toned than usual.
His explanation stemmed from the dehydration he felt, as his body was simply not as bloated as usual. Though, had it ever really been bloated?
The notion did not leave his mind. He had to accept that his body felt a bit lighter than usual as well. Yet, he tried to ignore that.
As the morning went on, he decided to eat breakfast. Kuro was not someone who tried to interpret too much into his dreams. Hence, he might as well just forget about it.
When he took his first bite, his hand suddenly stopped during the motion. Barely reaching his mouth, he mustered up the strength to keep going.
Precise motions have never been his strength. But had his body ever felt this hard to move? Changing the trajectory of his arms almost felt unnatural to him.
It was as if he was a gate that had not been oiled in a long time. A uncanny feeling started to stir in his belly. He figured it was just an upset stomach and went to his bathroom.
In the process of entering the bathroom, he glanced to his mirror. Just as he always did. But what he saw, made him stumble over his own feet. He almost hit the ground but his sturdy forearms cushioned the fall.
Many seconds have passed since his fall and Kuro was unable to move. He decided to look up again, step by step. But his inner voice told him to never stand up again.
Strength made him go back on his feet. Strength, that he now needed in form of mental fortitude. As soon as he glanced back into the mirror, he saw wounds all over his face.
A deep gash split his cheek, and crimson streaks ran like tears down his reflection's face.
It was as if he was cut in every possible piece of flesh he owned. He frantically pulled up his shirt and again saw wounds all over his strong body.
When his gaze wandered away from the mirror and back to his body, everything seemed fine. It was almost as if his body was only damaged in the mirror.
He had a really hard time to believe what he saw. Now he started to feel validated in his earlier rage. Was this not a dream? Or maybe, was what was happening right now a dream?

There it was. The blue mysterious screen crept up again. It was the confirmation of what he feared. He sunk to the ground, holding his knees as if they were glued to his stomach.
"Have they really killed me?" he desperately pondered. His sanity took a deep dive. Moments of betrayal made him laugh like a freak.

"Oh, right. I did..." He started to remember the scene of his last moments. "During my last breath, I accepted to become a demon" he added, while he laughed.

Despair started to fuel his anger. He could not believe this had really happened. Kuro was not one to ever harm his loved ones. If he was being honest, he used to not even dare harming anyone outside of the dungeon's monsters.
But this time, it was different. It was as if something intrinsically had changed, due to the confirmation of his death.
Plans to punish those pesky party members that he used to love started to enter his mind. Alas, he immediately noticed he would lack the strength to attempt those.
The party was not to be taken lightly, at least not for someone of his strength. Physical abilities are not from utmost importance in the world of Divers.
A mere D-Rank would be unable to wipe out those traitors. He started to long for strength. Strength, that he knew he would never have.
"But wait?" he startled. "Wasn't I supposed to become a demon?"

Kuro dropped to the ground, his vision fading again. It almost felt similar to what has happened a few hours ago. But this time, Kuro knew he was going to wake up as something different - something powerful.
