Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Bargaining, Bargain Hard!

Saiki Kusuo thought to himself, "I'm almost out of points for meals, so I need to earn more this time! I can't miss this chance! These freshmen look clueless, so I can't let them haggle. This will be my first lesson for them!"

A meaningful smile spread across Satō's face.

'I don't really care about points as long as they cover my daily expenses, but that doesn't mean I'll let myself be taken advantage of.'

Saiki Kusuo's gaze locked onto the other person's face.

"Senpai, could you make it a bit cheaper?" Kushida Kikyō leaned forward, her lips slightly pouted, looking adorably pleading.

"So cute! This kouhai is really adorable!"

Satō-senpai's face showed a hint of hesitation. After a few seconds, he smiled and said, "Well, Kushida-kouhai... I'll give you a discount. Forty thousand points!"

'Wait, didn't you just say you wouldn't let us bargain? And now you're dropping ten thousand points?'

Saiki Kusuo didn't know who to comment on first.

"Forty thousand? Do you think I'm stupid? What a jerk!"

Kushida Kikyō felt annoyed inside, but her smile didn't falter. "Sorry, forty thousand is still too expensive. Can you lower it more?"

"I can't go any lower! That's the lowest price!" Satō insisted, looking determined.

"I can't reduce it further! These points are important to me! Even if she's cute, I can't lower the price!"

"But... it's still so expensive, Senpai. Please lower it a bit more!"

"Fine, thirty-five thousand then! That's the absolute lowest!"

'What happened to the you who just swore not to lower the price?'

Saiki Kusuo was completely exasperated.

'Thirty-five thousand... It's lower than before, but still overpriced.'

Using his psychometric ability, Saiki Kusuo had a rough idea of the prices other seniors were charging for the exam questions. Most were around thirty thousand points, some even lower.

Clearly, this Satō-senpai was trying to take advantage of the freshmen's unfamiliarity with the prices and rules.

Saiki Kusuo wasn't going to let him.

'Thirty-five thousand? That's less than a thousand points per person, which is acceptable.'

Kushida Kikyō thought the price was reasonable and was about to agree when the usually silent Saiki Kusuo finally spoke up.

"I contacted another senior. They're charging thirty thousand points."

"Thirty thousand? That's too low..." Satō looked surprised, not expecting the freshmen to have contacted other seniors.

"Damn, who else contacted them and offered thirty thousand?!"

Kushida Kikyō noticed Satō's reaction and quickly chimed in, "In that case, we'll go to another senior. Sorry!"

She stood up, pretending to leave.

"Wait, wait! I'll do thirty thousand too..."

"The other senior is also offering thirty thousand, with answers included! I think we should go with them!"

Kushida Kikyō could tell from Satō's expression that the price could be pushed lower.

"Damn... these freshmen are haggling so hard... But if I don't sell to them, I'll get nothing..."

Satō looked desperate, finally squeezing out, "Twenty-five thousand... That's the absolute lowest..."

"Okay." Saiki Kusuo nodded to Kushida Kikyō, thinking the price was fair enough.

Theoretically, it could be lowered further, but Saiki Kusuo was satisfied and saw no need to push it.

"Thank you so much, Senpai!" "No problem, helping juniors is what we seniors should do..."

After transferring the points, Kushida Kikyō and Saiki Kusuo obtained the first spot-check exam questions. Kushida Kikyō immediately shared the news in the class group chat.

Kushida Kikyō: Everyone! We bargained the price down to twenty-five thousand points!

Ike Kanji: As expected of Kushida-san!

Yamauchi Haruki: Great job, Kushida Kikyō!

As soon as Kushida Kikyō posted, several boys in the class replied instantly.

Kushida Kikyō: No, no, it's all thanks to Saiki-kun!

Saiki Kusuo saw the messages. He preferred staying out of the spotlight, but he didn't want Satō-senpai to take advantage of them so easily, so he'd stepped in to bargain.

"Saiki-kun, did you really contact another senior?" Kushida Kikyō put down her phone, curious. Saiki Kusuo shook his head.

"I see, you were just bluffing! Saiki-kun, you're amazing!" She smiled.

"I didn't expect the seemingly dull Saiki to be so clever here."

'What kind of image do I have in your mind?'

"Let's go to the school print shop and make copies for everyone in the class!" Kushida Kikyō continued, "Even though Horikita-san doesn't seem to want to join us, let's print a copy for her too."

"Horikita Suzune probably won't take it, but I'll pretend to care anyway."

'Whatever.'

Saiki Kusuo thought, but still nodded.
