Sigmund wasn't a normal child. Born with white hair, he had always stood out but what elevated him beyond all others his age was his mind. You see, Sigmund was a reincarnator. After his death in 2025, he found himself back in the 1980's, to be exact, 1989, as a nine year old boy. Good thing he knew english before he was reborn, for he was a child in the UK. After his awakening, he had been hailed as a genius. He breezed through elementary and middle school at an alarming rate and was more than ready to begin highschool after the summer of 1991 but when his eleventh birthday rolled around, he found a peculiar person standing in front of his home, one which he recognised all too well. Stern, with long but greasy black hair and a hooked nose, it was Severus Snape!
His parents, ever the dutiful hosts, invited the man in robes inside after he explained that he came representing a school.
What they didn't expect was for it to be a magic school.
They, at first, didn't believe him but after he had demonstrated a few bits of magic, they were bubbling with excitement. Both of them were fantasy fans, so having a son who was a wizard was an exciting idea. The grown ups discussed this but what caught Sigmund's attention was the bronze card floating above the ground where Professor Snape had stood a few minutes ago. Intrigued, he picked it up and immediately, a blue screen, like in those fanfictions came up.
Spell card: Levitation spell 'Levioso'
Do you wish to absorb? Y/N
Gingerly, he tapped the yes option and the card dissolved into nothingness and knowledge of how to cast the spell entered his mind. It was as if he had been using that spell for years. He knew how to pronounce it, how to swing his wand and how to channel the magic.
Was this his cheat?
That was the spell that Snape had used to show them that magic was real… did everyone who cast a spell leave behind such a card? No… Snape had used a few spells, yet only this one had dropped. Perhaps there was an element of chance to it?
With this, he could very well become the most powerful wizard in existence. As long as he was around when strong magic was being cast, he could grow exponentially and he could learn like a regular student on top… A wicked grin spread across his face.
"How about we make this day into a day trip?", His mother, Agnis said, "we were planning on going to the zoo but this seems a lot more exciting! We have a wizard in our family… can you believe it, Stanley?"
"It is… hard to believe but I am excited for you, Siggi. I agree, this would be much better than the zoo"
Not even half an hour later, they were driving in their car, his presents completely forgotten. Snape looked… uncomfortable, sitting in the muggle machine but he provided directions to the leaky cauldron. He explained that it was hidden from muggle eyes but that, with the guidance of a wizard or witch, muggles could enter. They parked the Vauxhall in a nearby street and Snape guided them towards the run down pub. They didn't talk with anyone inside, just walking straight towards the back door.
Snape tapped a brick three times and the gate to diagon alley opened up.
Countless wizards and witches were browsing the quirky shops and there were spell cards everywhere. They were mostly bronze or silver. He could guess that the silver ones were stronger or perhaps a bit more rare? He picked up card after card.
Spell card: Softening charm 'Spongify'
Spell card: Boil cure potion
Spell card: Mending charm 'reparo'
…
Spell card: Freezing charm 'Glacius'
As he picked up card after card -all while Snape was explaining things-, slowly a headache formed in his head. Seems like it put a strain on his mind, taking in that many cards. Once he had picked up 15, he couldn't bear it anymore and stopped taking more cards. The headache was monstrous. He would have to come back here some other day. Diagon alley was a treasure trove.
The Moon family walked into Gringotts, where his father, Stanley, exchanged some muggle money for galleons. The process was fairly simple, just walk over to the money exchanging station -there were four of those- and give the goblin the money. Goblin's looked a lot more creepy than they did in the movies, with sharp teeth and wrinkly skin, which looked too saggy and at the same time stretched far too thin.
Over the next three hours, Sigmund and his family bought everything he needed plus a few extra things, such as more books. They still thought he loved books and learning, a typical ravenclaw. This couldn't be farther from the truth. The only reason he read through material that fast was because he already knew it. He wouldn't be a ravenclaw in Hogwarts, nor would he be in Slytherin(simply because he was a mudblood… weird thing to say about yourself), so the options were between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor… He thought of himself as courageous but at the same time he was very hard working. Only time, and the sorting hat would tell, he supposed.
After that, Professor Snape excused himself and they were left on their own to get home. His parents kept on talking about his future, what kind of magic he would learn but all he wanted to do was fall asleep and sleep off this headache he got from absorbing so many cards. But no, he still had to open his other presents. So, he opened the boxes, finding sweets and videogames. It was good and all but all he could think about was his magical future. Still, he politely thanked his parents, they ate cake and Sigmund retired to his room early that day. He dreamt of Hogwarts and awoke with a smile on his face
