Niley was already used to her younger brother's sharp tongue, so she just shook her head and said nothing. Instead, she quietly brought a small stool and sat by the door.
Xing was embroidering a handkerchief. After tying the thread and biting it off with his teeth, he noticed Mier blocking the doorway like he was guarding against a thief.
He tilted his head and leaned close to Liam, whispering, "Look how clingy Second Brother and our wife are."
Liam didn't even glance at him. He just kept his eyes on the needle and thread in his hands.
Xing kept mumbling to himself, not caring if Liam responded or not. After rambling for a while, he quickly returned to sewing.
He didn't forget that later Niley said they'd go to town. He planned to go with her to deliver the two finished handkerchiefs.
His wife liked to spend a lot, so the family really couldn't do without him making money.
He sighed and stopped paying attention to Mier and the other two. Earning money was more important!
Han went to the kitchen to wash up quickly. When he came out, he saw Mier sitting by the door and paused when he noticed the tightly shut room.
Just as he was about to say something, Father Jiang arrived with the ox cart. He looked around and said, "I thought you might still need to borrow from Aunt Dashan, so I brought it back first."
"That works too."
Han nodded. Since Niley hadn't come out yet, he decided to find something to do.
He brought out the firewood that hadn't been chopped from the woodshed and began chopping while waiting for Niley.
Inside the house, Lei was folding clothes. When he heard the chopping, he opened the window and looked out. Then he called to the yard, "Big Brother, can I go with you later?"
"Sure."
At that moment, Niley had just finished washing up and changed clothes. She was drying her hair when Mier heard the sound and came inside, quickly taking the hair dryer from her hands.
While helping her dry her hair, he sighed with amazement. His wife always had all kinds of strange and useful things.
Once her hair was dry, Niley put the hair dryer back into her space and looked at Mier. "We still need to borrow the ox cart. I forgot to tell her to leave it earlier."
"Father already brought it back."
While speaking, Mier helped Niley straighten her clothes, looking very much like a caring husband, which Niley enjoyed.
Hearing this, she smiled slightly. "Do you want to go to town with us later? Maybe buy everyone some tasty food."
Mier quickly waved his hands, looking serious. "Wife, we don't need snacks. Let's buy some clothes first. These clothes…"
Although they were warm and thick, they still felt kind of off.
Niley had thought the same thing, but later decided it wasn't necessary. After all, even if people noticed their clothes were different, they wouldn't be able to make them themselves.
At most, they'd just think the clothes were strange.
Thinking of that, she said it out loud.
Mier nodded. "Some people did ask about our clothes, like where we bought them. They said they looked warm."
Then he looked at Niley with sparkling eyes, proud as ever. "But I told them my wife gave them to me."
He could still remember the jealous looks on the villagers' faces when he said that.
Before, it was always them looking at others with envy. But now, with Niley around, things were different.
Niley's heart fluttered seeing Mier's sparkling eyes. She reached out and gently touched his soft, pink earlobe, making him let out a small sound. She grabbed his clothes and leaned in for a kiss.
Both of them froze at the touch but soon responded and started exploring deeper.
"Second Brother, Wife, are you done getting ready?"
Niley was about to go further when Xing's voice came from outside. Mier quickly stopped her with his hand. His face was still red, especially the corners of his eyes, which looked very tempting.
Niley gritted her teeth. "That nosy brat is so annoying!"
Mier chuckled. "Then let me teach him a lesson for you later, okay?"
"Thanks in advance, my dear husband."
Getting the sweet treatment, Niley was about to go out when Mier stopped her, fixed her clothes, and only then let her out.
Outside, Han and the others were waiting.
When they saw Niley come out, they all looked over. But Xing didn't wait and rushed ahead out the door.
Niley looked at the ox cart and the small pile of wolf corpses nearby. She walked straight over and used her power to move the wolves onto the cart. Just then, Father Jiang came over with a mat and covered the cart.
He explained to Niley, "This way, it won't draw too much attention in town."
Niley nodded.
She was about to take Mier's hand but remembered someone needed to drive the cart, so she pulled her hand back.
Then she saw Han already pulling the cart out. She quickly said, "Wait a second."
She stepped forward, reached under the mat, and moved most of the wolves into her space. Then she patted the cart. "Alright, let's go!"
"Wife, I'm going to town with you."
Lei walked over carrying a small bag and informed Niley.
She raised her eyebrow and glanced at the bag. Lei quickly explained, "In case we need to stay for a few days."
"You're going to work in town?"
Hearing the word "work," Lei smiled. "Yeah, work."
As they walked out, all of them except Father Jiang and the not-so-healthy Liam were full of energy and ready to leave. Seeing Liam's envious look, Niley turned back and asked, "You two are staying home?"
"I can go too?"
Liam was a bit surprised.
Even though Niley had treated him once, he still thought his body wasn't strong enough for such a long walk.
But seeing her nod, he got excited. He looked at Father Jiang, who nodded in approval and turned to Niley with tears in his eyes.
"Your body needs proper exercise. If you get tired, just ride in the cart."
Everyone felt happy for Liam after hearing what Niley said.
"Third Brother, now you won't have to drink those awful bitter medicines anymore!"
Xing said as he grabbed Liam's arm and walked forward. Han drove the cart, and the others walked alongside.
Xing kept chatting non-stop the whole way, making the journey less boring.
When they reached the village entrance, Niley stepped forward to take the cart. As soon as her hand touched it, Han stopped her with his big hand. "Wife, I can do it myself."
Niley raised an eyebrow. "I just want to try it."
If she wasn't worried about standing out too much, she wouldn't be using this slow ox cart. Any of her modified cars in her space could run better.
Seeing her interest, Han didn't get down. Instead, he pulled Niley up and smiled at her. "Wife, let me teach you."
