Chapter 6 - Chapter 5 - Professor X and Magneto

THE NEXT DAY

Around 10 AM, two cars pulled up outside Johan's home, their engines purring softly as they came to a stop. Johan, still groggy from sleep, glanced out the window and felt his heart drop. He recognized the sleek black vehicle associated with Magneto and the more understated car belonging to Professor Charles Xavier.

Taking a deep breath, Johan made his way to the front door, trying to steady his nerves. As he opened it, he was met with the imposing figures of Magneto and Professor X, flanked by a few members of the X-Men and a couple of Magneto's Brotherhood associates. The atmosphere was thick with tension, and Johan felt a knot form in his stomach.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, attempting to mask his surprise and confusion.

"We need to talk," Professor X replied, his tone calm yet authoritative. "May we come in?"

Johan hesitated, glancing back into the house. He knew he didn't have a valid excuse to deny their entry, and the last thing he wanted was a confrontation on his doorstep. Reluctantly, he stepped aside, allowing them to enter.

As they walked into the living room, Johan's parents emerged from the kitchen, their expressions shifting from curiosity to concern as they took in the scene.

"What's going on, Johan?" his mother asked, her eyes darting between the unfamiliar faces.

"It's important," Johan replied, trying to keep his voice steady. "I need to talk to them." He could see the worry etched on his parents' faces, and he added, "Just trust me."

His father exchanged a glance with his mother before nodding slowly. "Alright, we'll be in the other room," he said, leading his wife away to give Johan some privacy.

IN THE LIVING ROOM

Once they were alone, Johan turned to face the group. Wanda was already sitting on the couch, her expression a mix of confusion and apprehension as she watched the newcomers.

"We're here because we see potential in you both," Professor X began, his voice steady. "You're like us—mutants with abilities that can change the world. I run a school where mutants can learn to coexist with humans, to find a place in society."

Before Johan could respond, Magneto interjected, his tone sharp. "Coexist? You really believe that, Charles? Humans have shown time and again that they fear and hate us. They will never accept us as equals."

"That's not true," Professor X countered, his voice calm but firm. "There are those who want to help, who believe in a future where we can live together."

Magneto shook his head, his expression resolute. "You're naive, Charles. The only way to ensure our survival is to embrace our power and stand against those who would oppress us."

As the tension escalated, Johan felt the urge to speak up. "I understand both of your perspectives," he said, trying to find a middle ground. "But I'm not ready to choose a side yet."

Just then, the doorbell rang, interrupting the heated discussion. Johan glanced at the group before excusing himself to check who it was.

When he opened the door, he was surprised to see Emma Frost standing there, her presence commanding. Without waiting for an invitation, she walked past him and into the house, her eyes scanning the room until they landed on Wanda.

"Hey there," Emma said, a smirk playing on her lips as she approached Wanda and sat down next to her on the couch.

Johan returned to the living room, feeling a mix of relief and confusion at Emma's arrival. He turned back to Professor X and Magneto, who were both watching the interaction with interest.

"Look," Johan said, his voice steady. "I understand what you both want, but I'm not choosing a side right now. And it's going to be the same with Wanda."

Wanda looked at Johan, her expression uncertain but grateful for his support. The room fell silent as the weight of his words settled in, each person aware that the future was still unwritten, and the choices they made would shape it.

As Johan stood there, trying to gauge the reactions of the powerful figures in the room, Magneto's gaze shifted to Emma, who was now sitting comfortably next to Wanda.

"What about this new girl that just entered?" Magneto asked, his tone curious yet calculating. "She looks like she's also a strong mutant."

Professor X nodded in agreement, his expression thoughtful. "I can feel her telekinesis," he said, his voice steady. "It's quite strong. She has the potential to be a significant asset."

Emma, overhearing their conversation, raised an eyebrow and smirked. "I appreciate the compliments, gentlemen," she said, her confidence radiating. "But I'm not here to join any sides. I'm just here for my own reasons."

Standing behind Professor X, Scott Summers, one of the X-Men, couldn't help but chime in. "Looks like you're a chick magnet for mutant girls, huh?" he teased, a playful smirk on his face as he glanced at Johan.

Johan felt his cheeks flush slightly, caught off guard by the comment. "That's not what this is about," he replied, trying to maintain his composure.

Magneto's expression hardened slightly. "You may not want to choose a side, but the world is not going to wait for you to make up your mind. The threats we face are real, and they are coming."

"And that's why we need to work together," Professor X interjected, his tone firm yet hopeful. "If we can unite our strengths, we can create a future where mutants and humans can coexist."

Johan took a deep breath, feeling the weight of their words. "I understand both of your perspectives," he said, his voice steady. "But I'm not choosing a side yet. If you're just going to repeat the same arguments, then maybe it's best if you leave."

Emma glanced at Johan, a hint of admiration in her eyes.

Magneto's expression shifted, a mix of surprise and respect. "You're bold, I'll give you that," he said, his tone softening slightly.

"I'm just trying to figure things out," Johan continued. "I believe there's a way to find common ground, but I need more than just the same old arguments."

"We need to prepare for the inevitable conflict," Magneto insisted, his voice firm. "Humans will never accept us. We must be ready to defend ourselves."

"And we must strive for understanding," Professor X countered, his tone calm yet passionate. "If we can show them that we are not a threat, we can change their hearts and minds."

Johan listened intently, but the weight of their words felt heavy. He glanced at Wanda and Emma, both of whom seemed equally caught in the tension of the moment.

"I appreciate your passion," Johan finally said, raising his hand to pause the discussion. "But I'm still not ready to choose a side. If this is just going to be a back-and-forth about the same points, then I think it's best if we end this here."

Magneto and Professor X exchanged glances, both men recognizing the resolve in Johan's voice.

"You're making a mistake," Magneto said, his tone a mix of frustration and respect. "But I admire your conviction."

"We'll be here when you're ready to talk again," Professor X added, his voice softer. "Just remember, the world is changing, and you have a role to play in it."

With that, Magneto and his Brotherhood associates began to move toward the door, while Professor X gestured for the X-Men to follow.

As they stepped outside, Johan felt a mix of relief and uncertainty wash over him. He watched as the two groups exchanged a few final words before parting ways, the weight of their ideologies lingering in the air.

Once the door closed behind them, Johan turned to Wanda and Emma, who were both still processing the encounter.

"What do you think?" he asked, searching their faces for insight.

"It's complicated," Wanda replied, her brow furrowed. "But I appreciate that you stood your ground."

Emma nodded, her expression thoughtful. "You did well. It's not easy to face off against those two."

Johan took a deep breath, feeling a sense of determination. "I just want to make sure we're making the right choices for ourselves. We can't let fear dictate our paths."

Johan felt a mix of relief and confusion as he processed the recent encounter with Magneto and Professor X. He decided to get a glass of water to clear his mind. As he walked into the kitchen, he noticed Emma sitting on the couch, her demeanor relaxed as she chatted with Wanda.

He filled a glass with water and, as he turned to head back, he lightly tapped Emma on the head with the glass. "Why did you come so suddenly? The timing was suspicious," he said, a teasing smile on his face.

Emma looked up, unfazed by the playful gesture. "Oh, come on, Johan. You know I can't resist a good drama," she replied with a smirk. "Besides, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about."

Johan raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "And what do you think? You just waltz in here like you own the place."

Emma shrugged, her expression playful. "I do have a knack for making an entrance. But seriously, who's this girl?" She gestured toward Wanda. "Is she your new girlfriend? Because I have to say, it's a bit sudden."

Johan felt his cheeks flush slightly. "We're not dating! We've never even gone out!" he retorted, trying to keep his tone light despite the embarrassment.

Emma laughed, clearly enjoying the banter. "Oh, so you're saying there's a chance? I see how it is. Cheating on me with a girl you just met?"

"Not even close!" Johan shot back, shaking his head with a grin. "You're the one who just barged in here uninvited."

Their playful exchange continued for a few moments, filled with light-hearted teasing and laughter, until Johan's parents returned to the living room.

His mother smiled warmly at Emma. "Oh, Emma! It's nice to see you again," she said, recognizing her from the times Johan had hung out with her.

His father nodded in acknowledgment. "What brings you here today?"

Johan took a breath, knowing he needed to address the situation without going into too much detail. "Those people who just left... they were here to talk about some important stuff. It's complicated."

His mother's expression shifted slightly, concern creeping in. "Is everything alright?"

"Yeah, it's fine," Johan reassured them, trying to keep his tone light. "Just some mutant stuff. Nothing to worry about."

Emma chimed in, her tone playful yet supportive. "He's handling it like a champ, though. You should be proud."

Johan shot her a grateful look, appreciating her support. His parents exchanged glances, still a bit unsure but willing to trust Johan's judgment.

"Alright, just let us know if you need anything," his father said, settling back into the couch.

Johan's mother smiled at the group before heading to the kitchen. "I'll go get some snacks for everyone," she said cheerfully, leaving the room.

As she walked away, Emma turned to Wanda. "Come on, let's go to Johan's room," she suggested, a mischievous glint in her eye. Wanda nodded, and the two girls headed upstairs, leaving Johan and his father alone on the couch.

Johan's father motioned for him to sit down beside him. Once they were settled, his father leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "Hey, son," he said quietly, casually sliding some cash into Johan's pocket. "Just in case."

Johan's eyes widened as he felt the weight of the money. "Dad, what is this?" he asked, feeling flustered.

His father gave him a knowing look, a hint of a smile on his face. "You know, just in case you need it. If you're really handling two girls at the same time, you might want to be prepared."

Johan felt his face heat up, and he quickly pulled the cash out of his pocket and pushed it back toward his father. "It's not like that! We're just friends!" he exclaimed, trying to keep his voice down to avoid drawing attention from the girls upstairs.

His father chuckled softly, clearly amused by Johan's reaction. "Alright, alright. Just looking out for you, buddy. You never know what might happen."

Johan shook his head, still embarrassed. "Seriously, Dad, it's not like that at all. We're just trying to figure things out."

His father raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile still on his face. "Just remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry."

Johan sighed, feeling a mix of embarrassment and gratitude for his father's concern. "Thanks, Dad. I appreciate it, but I promise it's not what you think."

His father patted him on the back, a supportive gesture. "I trust you, son. Just be honest with them, and everything will work out."

With that, Johan stood up, feeling a bit more at ease. He headed toward the stairs to join Emma and Wanda, ready to face whatever the day had in store for them.
