Carter Clove woke up in front of the gas station, confused about what had happened. He remembered being hit by a tsunami, so he quickly turned around and realized that everything around him was intact; nothing had happened to his surroundings. Wondering what had occurred, Carter headed towards the gas station in a daze.
Carter approached the automatic doors, which, for some reason, wouldn't open for him. He initially assumed the door was locked, but then remembered seeing customers inside.
He tried the automatic doors again, but they still wouldn't open. Frustrated, he banged on the glass of the door and fell straight through it. At first, he thought the door had broken from his banging, but then he realized he hadn't heard the sound of glass shattering and falling. It dawned on him that he himself had gone through the door.
In shock, Carter let out a small scream and yelled at the cashier, who was only a few feet away, asking for help. The stoic cashier, paying no attention to Carter, continued to look at his phone.
Enraged by this, Carter ran towards the cashier and yelled, "Hey!! Why the fuck are you ignoring someone yelling for help!?" He didn't realize he had gone completely through the door.
The cashier, his face still stoic, almost as if he couldn't even see Carter or acknowledge his existence, only infuriated Carter more, causing him to swing at the cashier.
The sloppily thrown punch went right through the cashier's body. The part of Carter's arm that went through the cashier's head turned into an almost gas-like substance.
Carter, looking at his arm in fear, had no idea what was happening. He began to scream and yell, fearing his arm would permanently stay in this gaseous state. He then noticed his arm slowly reforming, making him even more terrified.
Carter jumped up and yelled, "Call me a fucking ambulance, Goddammit!! I don't know what's happening to me!!!" to the people in the grocery store.
When Carter saw people walking towards him, he sighed in relief. "Finally…" Carter said. "People are finally coming to help, unlike this dumbass cashier," he muttered under his breath.
Carter reached out a hand to the approaching people, hoping they would help him up off the floor. When they ignored his hand and continued walking towards the counter, Carter jumped in front of them, annoyed and confused as to why they were ignoring him. They continued walking, focused on their own conversation, and passed right through Carter.
Usually, this wouldn't be a problem since Carter was essentially an ethereal being that the physical plane couldn't interact with. But unlike other beings across the veil, Carter Clove used to be human, which meant that when a living being on the physical plane walked through him, he felt extreme pain.
With a group of people standing inside his now ethereal, gas-like body, Carter began to feel excruciating pain. "AUGHHHH!!!" Carter screamed in agony, enduring this pain for what felt like minutes, wondering, "W-when the hell will t-these people be done!!"
The people who were standing in Carter's gaseous body finally left, but Carter still couldn't move, as his body needed time to reform from its gas-like state. During this time, people walked through him over and over, exponentially increasing the time it would take for his body to solidify.
Carter, finally able to get up hours after the gas station had closed and the people had left, went through the glass automatic doors and outside. He looked up at the green-tinted moon and soon realized that everything around him was now tinted a strange green color.
Carter Clove looked up at the moon, wondering, "God… what
the hell has happened to me…"
