Chapter 45 - Inferiority and Arrogance

"Ah, two Fatui Harbingers personally took action against me? They think too highly of me, don't they?"

Yilan looked at the text on the simulator and was slightly surprised. He had expected to face off against the Fatui's Harbingers in this simulation, but he didn't anticipate that two of them would confront him at once.

"Aren't the ladies the only ones actually doing the work here in Inazuma? Why are the stragglers joining in the fun?"

After hesitating for a moment, Yilan decided to actively enter body sensing mode. Since the version of himself in the simulator lacked any system points, his strength was much weaker than his real self. If he died just like this, wouldn't all his previous hard work be in vain?

Although he couldn't use his real-life strength in body sensing mode, his upper limit was still far greater than if he were to operate manually.

"Enter body sensing mode."

On Mingzhui Beach, the sky was a little gloomy, and there was a gentle breeze. The blood-gold plants swayed softly in the wind, becoming more vibrant due to the watering of blood.

Yilan looked ahead, where two figures stood: a man and a woman, both exuding an overwhelmingly powerful presence.

The woman was tall, her figure as imposing as the highest peaks in Inazuma. She wore a mask that covered one eye and had a proud expression, exuding a queen-like temperament.

The young man beside her wasn't particularly tall, but he emanated an aura of superiority. The self-righteous arrogance in his eyes and the way he looked down on others gave off an uncomfortable feeling.

"You two, I don't think we know each other. Why are you blocking my way?" Yilan asked with a smile, pretending not to know anything.

He suddenly realized that with his mask covering three-quarters of his face, he seemed to share a similar temperament to the Fatui Harbingers…

"Put aside your boring probing," the woman said coldly. "As the largest merchant in Inazuma and the highest official in Kaiji Island, I believe that with your intelligence, Mr. Yilan, you have already figured out our identities."

The person who came had bad intentions…

"So, what exactly do the two Fatui Harbingers want with me?" Yilan asked, still smiling.

"You are a talented person. Join us, the Fatui," the woman said with a proud look on her face, as though she were offering him charity.

"Okay, okay. I've long admired the Ice Queen, and the Fatui's way of doing things is quite to my liking."

"Since you've joined the Fatui, the food and property under your name will naturally belong to Snezhnaya."

"No problem. I don't want to stay in this poor and remote place like Inazuma. I've heard that the technology of Snezhnaya is very advanced. If I can settle there, I won't care about the property here!"

The woman glanced at Yilan with a deeper gaze and said, "Then come with me to complete the handover procedures now."

"No problem. Shall we go now?" Yilan agreed immediately, being overly cooperative.

But just as he finished speaking—

"Boom!"

Suddenly, a bolt of purple lightning shot down from the sky and struck Yilan directly.

Yilan didn't dodge. The Wave of Moonlight in his hand swept through the air, forming a dark yellow barrier. The lightning hit the barrier, refracted like light in a mirror, and rushed off in another direction.

"Boom!"

A huge wave was blown up on the sea's surface. Yilan swung his sword and returned the katsuragi blade to its scabbard. He glanced at the scattered soldiers who had just attacked, sighed, and said:

"Let's make a deal. I know your goal is the Heart of God. I'm not interested in that thing. If you let me go today, I'll offer you the Heart of God someday. It's a good deal, right? How about it? Consider it?"

The woman seemed slightly moved at the proposition.

She could tell that Yilan was serious this time. If she could get the Heart of God without paying a price, then as the most dedicated Harbinger under the Ice Queen, she would naturally be very pleased.

But she still kept a cold expression and habitually said, "Why should we believe—"

"Shut up!!"

A loud shout suddenly rang out, but it wasn't Yilan who interrupted her words. It was the Skirmisher standing beside her.

"You—"

The woman turned and glared at the soldier next to her, but the soldier ignored her, walking toward Yilan with a twisted smile on his face.

"I've disliked you from the start," he said in a chilling tone. "How can a mere mortal look like that? How can you view us like commodities?"

"To be honest, your hypocritical attitude earlier almost made me want to vomit, but now your true colors have finally been revealed?"

"You just said you can get the Heart of God. To be honest, I'm not completely sure about this kind of thing. So why are you so confident? Why are you so arrogant? Won't you let me see it?"

Upon hearing this, Yilan burst into laughter. He didn't expect that Sandrone would attack him for this reason.

Indeed, as a time traveler who knew the plot, and in a copy of the life simulator, he sometimes looked at people with a scrutinizing gaze.

But that didn't mean he looked down on others, and most people wouldn't notice this detail.

He didn't expect that Sandrone was so sensitive. Not only had she noticed this detail, but she also regarded his look as arrogance…

No, when he thought about it carefully, it made sense that she would have such thoughts, given the experience of a scattered soldier.

——Abandoned by her own creator, rejected by the people who adopted her, picked up by people from other countries like a stray dog, neither a human nor a monster, without even a Heart of God of her own, calling herself an "extraordinary being," always pretending to look down on others, but in fact…

"You're actually very inferior, right?" Yilan looked at the Skirmisher and said with pity.

"You're looking for death!!!!!!"

The expression on the soldier's face immediately became ferocious, as though she were venting all her anger. Thunder rumbled in the already gloomy sky.

A large amount of lightning elements gathered from all directions.

The soldier raised her hands high, and the lightning elements, which seemed to connect the sky and the earth, gathered in her hands. Bathed in the terrifying lightning, she shouted at Yilan:

"I am a 'human' who is beyond all human beings. Even gods are afraid to interfere with my life… You are just a mortal. How can you be qualified to look at me with such pity? Die!!!!"

Along with the roar of the Skirmisher, the thunder in the sky transformed into a unicorn and rushed toward Yilan!
