Chapter 3 - CHAPTER THREE: THE FIRST CLAIM

Chapter Three: The First Claim

Kai stood on the edge of his first territory—an old, abandoned district on the outskirts of Neo-Terra. The area was a mess, a chaotic mix of broken buildings, ruined streets, and remnants of a once-thriving neighborhood that had fallen into ruin. The air was thick with the stench of decay, but to Kai, it was full of opportunity.

He had just felt the rush of his new powers after absorbing the blood of the woman earlier, and now, he was ready to test just how much control he truly had. His heart raced with excitement and dread. His Territory System was new, but the potential it held was beyond anything he had ever dreamed of.

"Claim it," the woman's voice echoed in his mind—Lilith's voice. She had vanished after their brief meeting, leaving him to figure out the rest on his own. He had no idea how to proceed, but the power inside him had been growing since he took her blood, urging him to take control.

[System Notification: Territory Claiming in Progress…]

The world around him shifted. He could feel the very ground beneath his feet tremble, like the land itself was responding to his will. His senses flared as a golden thread of power wrapped around him, pulling him deeper into the city's veins.

He grinned. His first claim. This district, now his, would be the foundation of everything to come. He could feel the presence of everyone within it—lurking in the shadows, hiding in the broken-down buildings, living in the filth and grime. These were the people who had been forgotten by the rest of the city, abandoned by the higher-ups who controlled everything else. They were weak, struggling to survive, but they were his now.

Kai raised his hand and looked at the glowing markings that adorned his palm. The Territory System gave him control, but it also gave him responsibility. These people weren't just his subjects—they were the building blocks of his domain, his power. They would either serve him or become his enemies.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, focusing on his Sovereign's Awareness. He could feel them—the people in his district. They were scared, angry, and desperate, but they were also searching for something. They needed a leader.

And Kai would give them one.

As he walked through the streets, a sense of power washed over him. The people in his domain began to notice the change. Some looked at him with confusion, others with suspicion. It was clear they didn't know what to make of him. After all, the city had been run by gangs, criminals, and corrupt corporations. There was no room for a young man like Kai to rise. But now, he wasn't just any man—he was a Sovereign.

A voice broke through his thoughts, drawing his attention to a nearby alley. Two men, rough-looking and clad in torn clothes, approached him. Their faces were hardened by the streets, but there was a look of hesitation in their eyes. They didn't know him, didn't understand what had changed, but they could sense something powerful radiating from him.

"Hey, kid," one of them said, stepping forward. He was tall, with a scar running across his cheek. "This is our turf. You got a problem with that?"

Kai's eyes narrowed, the hunger stirring in his chest. He was not going to back down—not now, not ever.

He took a step forward, and instantly, the man flinched as if a weight had settled on his chest. Kai's presence was now undeniable.

"No," Kai said, his voice cold and commanding. "This is my turf now."

The man's eyes widened as Kai reached out, a flick of his hand sending an invisible wave of power crashing over him. The other man staggered back, unable to move, as the first man dropped to his knees, gasping for air. The power of the Blood Bond coursed through Kai's veins, and the man, his will now bound to Kai's domain, was helpless.

"You will serve me," Kai whispered, his voice soft but final.

The man's body shook as if battling an invisible force, but it was clear who had control now. His eyes glazed over, and he nodded slowly, broken by the force of Kai's will.

"Y-Yes… Sovereign," the man muttered, his voice hollow.

Kai let him go, watching as the man stood up shakily, no longer a threat but a loyal subject. He turned to the second man, whose face was pale with fear. The second man fell to his knees, already understanding the situation.

"Please… don't hurt me," the second man begged. "We'll leave! We'll get out of your way!"

But Kai wasn't interested in destroying everyone who crossed him. He wasn't a tyrant—at least, not yet. Instead, he saw an opportunity.

"No," Kai said. "I don't want you to leave. I want you to work for me. You can live here, but you will serve my will. You'll be part of my territory, and in exchange, you'll have protection and power."

The second man looked up at him, uncertain but desperate. He didn't have a choice. Slowly, he nodded.

"Good," Kai said. He turned and began to walk away, the two men following behind him like loyal dogs. He could already feel the bond between them, the new connections that tied them to him.

As Kai explored his territory further, he began to see more people—lost souls wandering the streets, some selling drugs, some scavenging for scraps. His Territorial Awareness guided him, allowing him to sense their needs, their fears, their desires.

Kai approached a small group of women huddled near a decrepit building, looking for a place to stay. One of them, a tall woman with short black hair, caught his eye. There was something about her—something more than just the desperation in her eyes.

She didn't look at him with fear, like most did. She looked at him with interest, her gaze sharp, assessing.

"You the one who's taking over the streets?" she asked, her voice surprisingly calm despite the chaos around them.

Kai stopped a few paces away from her, sizing her up. She wasn't afraid. She had the fire of someone who had been through hell and come out stronger on the other side. She could be useful.

"I am," Kai said, his voice steady. "And this place—this district—it's mine now. If you want to stay, you'll need to follow my rules."

The woman's lips curled into a smirk. "Rules, huh? I didn't know vampires made rules."

Kai blinked, surprised by her directness. "I'm not a vampire," he said, though he wasn't sure if that was entirely true anymore. "But I'm taking this place, and I'm offering you protection."

She studied him for a long moment before stepping forward. "What's in it for us?"

"Power," Kai said. "Your lives. A chance to rise above the filth of this city. You'll become part of my domain. And you will live forever, untouched by time."

The woman raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "Forever, huh? I'm listening."

As Kai explained his offer, he could feel the Territory System reacting, pulling her toward him, her energy beginning to shift. The woman was close now, so close that he could feel the pull of the bond, the same bond he'd felt with the two men earlier. She was strong, unyielding, but that only made her more valuable.

She extended her hand to him. "What's your name?"

"Kai," he said. "And yours?"

"Seraphine," she replied, her eyes now filled with a strange curiosity. "Alright, Kai. We'll see how far you can take this."

And with that, Kai's first harem member was claimed, and his territory began to expand.

As Kai watched Seraphine join his side, he felt the first stirrings of what he had always wanted—control. Not just over the streets, not just over people, but over life itself. With each claim, his power would grow. The city was his, and with it, his destiny was just beginning.

His empire would rise, and no one would stand in his way.
