Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The sun's glow danced between the leaves shading me, and the aroma of flowers made every day feel like a dream. Travelers often say life in Solmyrel feels like a fantasy story. The air is so alive, that I can nearly picture the town's bustle from here. The fancy carriages only stopped to carry luggage and flowing dresses destined to never feel the slightest bit of dirt, even on the muddiest days. Each commoner jumps and waves their slight magic skills like ribbons, looking to entertain passing nobles. "I recently heard the most ridiculous thing, that Solmyrel to travelers from Vaelreth feels like heaven." At that passing comment, my father let out a hearty laugh, one rare but never failed to enhance the smile on my face. "Well, my love, that's just the heart of Solmyrel at play!" he continued after readjusting himself. At a slight sound in the distance, I opened my eyes that were resting, trying to avoid the sun's glow- I watched as my brother happily approached us, each day taller than the last; but he wasn't alone. Reaching my parent was a loud 'thud', the many books he carried were set on the table in a moment of relief. I always wondered what he was always up to… Rising from my spot on the grass and walking towards our small but elegant table, I reached out to the tower of books. "Elira." my instinctive curiosity failed me again. "…Yes, Father?" I hesitated. He continued in a softer tone, "You mustn't mess with Aldric's books, education is very important to our family." "When will I have something important?" I asked softly while staring at the books- my words felt like mere thoughts. "You already have something just as important—like your mother, you'll grow into a beautiful woman and marry into a grand family." I bit my lip softly, acting as if this is something I haven't heard before is hard. "Everything we do is to further our family, trust your father and all will work out, okay Elira?" "Yes, Father." I looked up and shot him a slight smile as the maid- seemingly just summoned worked her way around to fill fresh tea cups. I closed my eyes one last time to take in the air- If I didn't know better it may pass as heaven.
