Cherreads

Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Mysterious Shadow

The moment the door opened, violent wind and rain swept in, causing the flames in the stove inside the room to flicker rapidly.

Zeyan was blown so hard that he instinctively raised his hand to cover his face. Only after slightly getting used to the howling wind and rain did he lower his hands.

The pink and white cherry blossoms no longer fluttered because the rain was too heavy. One after another, raindrops fell frantically, and the cherry blossoms could not float in the air at all. Even if they fell from the branches, they would immediately be beaten down onto the ground by the rain.

Outside was still a storm of wind and rain, and clusters of lightning occasionally burst across the sky, as if proclaiming the end of the world.

"Miss Kamisato? Miss Kamisato, where are you?"

Zeyan walked out, stepping on the shrine grounds where cherry blossoms and rainwater flowed everywhere, calling Kamisato Ayaka's name in every direction.

After turning around once, he stopped under a tree. It was a tree whose shape looked somewhat like a fox, seemingly called a Sacred Sakura Tree, and held special significance.

On the other side of the Sacred Sakura Tree, Kamisato Ayaka stood there holding an umbrella, which she had naturally found in the shrine.

"Miss Kamisato!"

Zeyan shouted and ran over.

Hearing the shout, Kamisato Ayaka turned around and quickly ran over as well, raising the umbrella high above her head to cover Zeyan too.

"Zeyan, there were quite a few umbrellas in the shrine. You did not have to come out into the rain. Luckily, you are not too wet, or else the clothes you dried overnight would have been for nothing," Kamisato Ayaka said, her tone sounding a little helpless.

Hearing this, Zeyan smiled embarrassedly. "I did not see Miss Kamisato when I woke up, and I felt a little uneasy, so I came out to look for you."

He was much taller than Kamisato Ayaka. Being under the same umbrella with her at this moment, when he looked down, he could see her delicate and beautiful face, and he could also smell her faint fragrance, which made him feel almost drunk.

Kamisato Ayaka did not notice the ambiguous atmosphere created by two people squeezed under the small umbrella, because she had something more important on her mind.

"Zeyan, come here," Kamisato Ayaka gestured.

Zeyan did not know what she wanted to do, but he obediently followed her to the edge of the cliff behind the Sacred Sakura Tree.

Standing there and looking down, the vast scenery of Mt Yougou came into view, and even more distant scenes stretched before their eyes.

Looking from such a distance gave a special feeling.

Kamisato Ayaka pointed to a location in the west and said, "That is Araumi over there. Zeyan, do you see anything wrong with that place?"

Zeyan looked over in confusion. "Wrong?"

Kamisato Ayaka nodded, looking somewhat expectant. "When I passed by here today, I thought I saw some figures moving in Araumi. There might be people there. Inazuma is indeed not just the two of us left."

A rare look of excitement appeared on her face, and a faint smile graced the corners of her lips.

In the current environment, even one more person by her side was something worth being happy about for Kamisato Ayaka.

Hearing her words, Zeyan was very surprised and continued to stare at the Araumi area.

Araumi was actually a green mountainous region. From his perspective, the terrain looked like a huge triangle, with the ocean further beyond.

Above Araumi, the most obvious sight was a very large cherry blossom tree. Besides that, there was some common wild vegetation.

However, due to the storm, Zeyan could not see the situation clearly. The sky was dim, and the rain lines obstructed his vision.

"Wait, it seems there really is something."

Zeyan squinted again, trying to see more clearly, but in the end, he could only make out some black shadows moving over there.

He could not tell what they were specifically.

Could there really be other people?

Zeyan was surprised in his heart.

He looked back and saw Kamisato Ayaka's expectant expression. She was clearly eager to go to Araumi to check the situation.

Seeing Zeyan look over, Kamisato Ayaka indeed said, "Zeyan, let us set off quickly and go to Araumi to take a look."

Zeyan smiled wryly.

He had originally wanted Kamisato Ayaka to show him the Kamisato Art Tachi Jutsu this morning so that he could complete the final step and fully learn Kamisato Art Senho.

But now it seemed inappropriate to make such a request.

So Zeyan could only nod and say, "We do need to go to Araumi, but Miss Kamisato, your nose is even redder than yesterday. Have you caught a cold? You need to take care of yourself."

Kamisato Ayaka subconsciously touched her nose.

"Is that so? Maybe it is because I got rained on yesterday. But as long as we bring a few more umbrellas today, we will not have the situation of all our umbrellas being blown away like when we went up the mountain."

As she spoke, she frequently looked towards Araumi down the mountain, her heart seemingly already flown over there.

This made Zeyan unable to say anything more.

He could only return to the shrine with Kamisato Ayaka, quickly finish breakfast, and then leave the shrine with a package of food and a few umbrellas.

Zeyan carried the package of food, and Kamisato Ayaka carried the umbrellas.

They each held one umbrella as they walked.

The way up the mountain had been difficult, and the way down was not much easier.

There were many signs of landslides on Mt Yougou. If they walked too fast, they would inevitably slip and fall.

However, after walking for a while, Zeyan noticed that Kamisato Ayaka was not walking very fast, allowing him to keep up easily.

This made him pay closer attention to her and he noticed she still glanced towards Araumi from time to time.

Zeyan understood.

Although Kamisato Ayaka really wanted to get to Araumi quickly, she knew he was just an ordinary person and did not want her own eagerness to cause him any accidents, so she deliberately slowed down.

Such a detail warmed Zeyan's heart.

No one disliked being cared for, and such delicate attention from Kamisato Ayaka was simply irresistible.

With Kamisato Ayaka's help, there were no accidents on the way down Mt Yougou.

They braved the heavy rain and reached the foot of the mountain, continuing northwest and quickly arriving at Araumi.

In the desolate wilderness, the heavy rain poured down, and the ground was particularly muddy.

Every step was quite difficult, and their shoes were already filled with water, but they could only continue walking.

"The shadow I saw on the mountain earlier should be in this direction. Where is it?"

Kamisato Ayaka looked around expectantly, searching for any possible figures.

Having reached this place, Kamisato Ayaka finally quickened her pace and searched everywhere, like a white heron darting through the rain.

Zeyan walked slowly behind her.

Suddenly, Zeyan felt a strange sound coming from nearby.

He turned his head towards the direction of the sound, and his face instantly changed.
