Chapter 3: Impossible Bond
"Let me through!" Liana cried, pushing against the crowd of wolves blocking her way. Everyone was trying to see what was going at the Alpha's house, making it impossible to get through.
After the Alpha's shocking words about a prophecy, she had been rushed from the training hut toward the main pack house. But somehow, she got separated from the triplets in the chaos. Now everyone was in her way, and she could hear angry voices screaming from inside.
"Move, omega," a tall wolf growled, not even looking at her.
"But the Alpha ordered me to—"
"Yeah, right," someone else laughed. "Why would the Alpha want a muddy little omega?"
Liana felt her face burn. Despite changing clothes, she still had mud in her hair and on her face. She was about to give up when a big hand grabbed her arm.
"She's with me." Rowan's calm voice silenced everyone close. The crowd parted quickly.
"Sorry," Liana whispered as he led her through. "I got lost in the crowd."
"It's not your fault," Rowan said quietly. "Everyone's curious about what's happening. News travels fast in the pack."
Inside the Alpha's house, Rowan led her down a long hallway. Voices echoed from behind a big wooden door—angry voices.
"This is ridiculous!" That was definitely Celeste. "My father won't stand for this!"
"Your father doesn't make the decisions here, Celeste." Alpha Henderson's voice was firm.
Rowan squeezed Liana's arm gently. "Ready?"
No, she wasn't ready at all. But she nodded anyway.
When they walked in, all eyes turned to them. The room was packed with important wolves—the Alpha, the Beta (Celeste's father), other pack leaders, and of course, Kael and Jace. Elder Mira stood in the center, looking calm despite the stress.
Celeste's eyes narrowed when she saw Liana. "Finally decided to show up? Were you too busy rolling in more mud?"
"Celeste," her father warned, but she just crossed her arms.
"Liana," Elder Mira smiled warmly. "Come here, child."
Heart beating, Liana moved to stand beside the old woman. She could feel everyone watching her, judging her.
"Now," Elder Mira said to the room, "we can begin the test."
"This is a waste of time," Celeste's father grumbled. "Omegas don't mate with Alphas. That's not how it works."
"Normally, no," Elder Mira agreed. "But there's nothing normal about what's happening here."
She pulled out three small stones from her pocket. Each one was a different color: silver, green, and blue—just like the triplets' eyes.
"These are moonstones," Elder Mira explained to Liana. "Each has been touched by one of the Alpha's sons. I want you to close your eyes and pick one."
"Why?" Liana asked.
"The stone will be drawn to the true mate bond," Elder Mira said. "If there is one."
Liana looked at the triplets. Kael's face was unclear. Jace winked at her. Rowan gave her a small nod of support.
She closed her eyes and held out her hand. Elder Mira put the three stones in her palm. They were cool at first, then started to warm up. Liana gasped as they grew hotter, almost burning her skin.
"What's happening?" The Alpha's voice sounded worried.
"Open your eyes, child," Elder Mira said.
Liana opened her eyes and stared in shock. All three stones were glowing brightly in her hand.
"That's impossible," someone whispered.
"Try again," the Beta ordered. "She must have cheated somehow."
Elder Mira took the stones back, whispered something over them, and returned them to Liana's palm. Again, all three began to glow.
"I don't understand," Liana said, her voice shaking.
Elder Mira's face was serious now. "In all my years, I've never seen this happen. The test shows that you have a bond with all three brothers."
"That's impossible!" Celeste yelled, stepping forward. "One wolf, one mate. That's how it works!"
"Perhaps," Elder Mira said slowly, "it's time to tell them about the prophecy."
The room went quiet. Alpha Henderson sighed heavily, then nodded.
"Many generations ago," Elder Mira began, "there was a prophecy about our pack. It said that when three Alpha brothers are born on the same day, a special omega will come. She will have the power to change everything—our pack laws, our way of life."
"And destroy us," the Beta added angrily.
"Not destroy," Elder Mira amended. "Transform."
Liana felt dizzy. This couldn't be about her. She was nobody special.
"The prophecy," Elder Mira continued, "says this omega will have a bond with all three brothers. Not just one. And her eyes will turn silver when her wolf awakens fully."
Everyone stared at Liana's eyes with their new silver flecks.
"This is crazy," Kael finally spoke. "We can't all be bonded to her. It goes against nature."
"Against pack law, too," the Beta said. "One Alpha, one Luna. That's how it's always been."
"This has to be a trick," Celeste stepped forward again, her face red with anger. "She probably stole some kind of magic to make herself seem special. Omegas are always trying to climb above their place."
"That's not true," Liana said, finding her voice. "I never wanted any of this."
"LIAR!" Celeste screamed, lunging forward.
Everything happened fast. Celeste's hands, suddenly tipped with claws, cut toward Liana's face. Before they could touch her, all three triplets moved at once—Kael grabbed Celeste's arm, Jace pulled Liana back, and Rowan stepped between them.
"Enough!" the Alpha screamed, his voice shaking the room.
Celeste froze, breathing hard. "You can't possibly believe this omega trash is meant to be with your sons! I've been training my whole life to be Luna!"
"Training doesn't create a mate bond," Elder Mira said calmly. "The Moon Goddess does."
The Alpha paced for a moment, then made a choice. "Until we understand what's happening, Liana will stay in the pack house where she'll be safe."
"Dad!" Kael protested.
"Not up for discussion," the Alpha said strongly. "And you three will keep your distance while Elder Mira does more research."
"And what about our agreement?" the Beta asked angrily. "My daughter was promised to one of your sons!"
"No agreement can override a true mate bond," the Alpha responded. "If that's what this is."
"If?" Jace raised an eyebrow. "Did you not see what just happened? All three stones glowed!"
"Which shouldn't be possible," Rowan added quietly. "That's what worries me."
Liana felt like the room was spinning. Everyone was talking about her like she wasn't there. Making plans for her life. Just yesterday, she was washing dishes and being ignored. Now she was the center of a pack problem.
"I just want to go home," she whispered.
"The pack house is your home now," the Alpha said, not unkindly. "At least until we sort this out."
"You're making a mistake," Celeste hissed, pulling her arm free from Kael. "She'll bring ruin to all of us."
As the group broke up, Liana found herself being led away by a female pack guard. She glanced back once to see the triplets watching her, their faces showing different emotions—concern, wonder, and confusion.
Down another hallway, the guard opened a door to a small but nice bedroom. "You'll stay here. Don't leave without permission."
When the door closed, Liana sat on the edge of the bed, her hands shaking. What was happening to her life? She wasn't special. She wasn't part of any forecast. She was just Liana, the lost omega.
A soft knock came at her door. When she opened it, she found Talia standing there with wide eyes.
"They're saying you're mated to all three Alphas," Talia whispered. "Is it true?"
Before Liana could answer, a wave of pain hit her so hard she doubled over. It felt like her bones were breaking.
"Liana!" Talia caught her as she fell to her knees.
"Something's wrong," Liana gasped. Her skin felt like it was on fire. "My wolf—"
And then she heard it—her wolf's voice, speaking clearly for the first time in her life:
"We've found them all. After centuries of waiting, we've finally found them. Now the real danger begins."
