Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 : Breaking point

Reina's Wrath

The next day, Yuto barely made it past the school gates before Reina stormed up to him, her eyes burning with rage.

"What is wrong with you, Yuto?!" she snapped, her voice sharp enough to cut through steel. "You ignored me all evening! You're acting like some kind of victim when I've done everything for you!"

Yuto flinched at the sudden outburst. He had never seen Reina this angry before.

"I just needed time to think," Yuto said cautiously. "I—"

"Think?!" Reina scoffed, stepping closer. "So what? You suddenly think you're too good for me? That Kaido and his little sheep Mei can save you?"

At the mention of Mei, Yuto clenched his fists.

Just then, a new voice cut through the tension.

"Yuto isn't weak!"

Mei stood a few feet away, her hands balled into fists, her face determined despite her obvious nervousness.

Kaido stood beside her, arms crossed, his expression cold.

Reina's lips curled into a smirk. "Oh, this is rich. The quiet girl actually speaks."

She turned to Mei, eyes full of mockery. "And who are you, little sheep? Trying to protect Yuto? That's adorable. Why don't you run along before you embarrass yourself?"

Mei froze, her face turning red—not from embarrassment, but from anger.

Yuto couldn't hold it anymore.

"Reina, stop."

Reina snapped her gaze back to him. "Excuse me?"

Yuto took a deep breath, his heart pounding. "I… I think I've been blind. Our friendship… it's not normal. It's toxic. And I don't think I want to be part of it anymore."

Reina's expression shifted instantly—first shock, then pure hatred.

"What did you just say?"

Yuto swallowed. "I don't want to be your friend anymore."

Silence.

Then—

Laughter.

Reina laughed.

It wasn't a giggle or a chuckle—it was a slow, mocking laugh.

She shook her head, amusement flashing in her eyes. "You really think you can walk away from me?"

Yuto stood firm. "I know I can."

Mei suddenly stepped forward. "You call Kaido a liar, but you're the real liar, Reina."

Reina raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Enlighten me."

Mei took a deep breath. "Kaido took money… but not for himself."

Kaido stiffened. "Mei—"

Mei continued. "Reina, remember that time you insisted on driving even after your driver refused? You hit an old man that day, and your father refused to compensate him."

Yuto's eyes widened. "What…?"

Mei turned to Kaido, her eyes soft. "But Kaido couldn't just stand by. He took the money… to help the old man. He saved his life."

Kaido froze. "How do you know that?"

Mei's lips trembled as she looked at him. "Because… he was my grandfather. If it weren't for you, we would have lost him that day."

A stunned silence filled the air.

Reina's face twisted in fury. "You lying—"

"Enough." Yuto's voice was firm.

He looked at Reina one last time.

"Things are clear now. We're done."

And with that, he turned away—toward Kaido and Mei.

Reina stood frozen, watching him go.

For the first time, she had lost control.

And she hated it.
