Chapter 7 - Bob asks about the old Grandpa and the plot thickens

The next day, Bob went to the secretary's office and made his query.

He went straight to the point.

"Hi Miss Susie, have you seen any old men loitering around the school?"

Miss Susie raised a perfectly coiffed eyebrow, at the words, one of her fingers reached immediately for the red button which would connect a line directly to the police department.

Unfortunately, the officers were currently out investigating a case where a bunch of their force across the world had been knocked out (due to Reverend Eli), and so she was forced to leave a message.

Sensing she might have the wrong idea, Bob elaborated.

"He's a harmless person, and he's been trying to give me things recently."

Susie's other eyebrow raised.

"Anyway, if you happen to see him, could you let me know? Keep an eye out please. Thank you!"

She would certainly keep her eyes peeled.

She reached down and pulled out a .35 Glock.

It wasn't the only thing she would peel, she thought to herself, as She peeled the plastic wrapping off the gun.

She then peeled an orange. A secretary- FBI-assassin needs to get her daily dose of vitamin C after all.

___

Bob was completely nonplussed as to this exchange, thinking that he had sorted out that particular issue and only needed to wait for the results.

He proceeded to look at the next dot point on his genetic ascendancy plan.

Cardio.

That's right, he needed stamina, oxygenation to ensure his cells would undergo optimal stress and growth cycles, to be the very best that there ever was.

As such, he set his stopwatch and began to run laps on the grass field.

10 minutes and 44 seconds. This was an acceptable time for the 3000m distance, but he could do better. Wolfing down his protein, he had a quick shower and then went to the library to lift some mental weights.

___

Somewhere deep in the cells of Moreton High, Jill's eyes widened in fear, the duct tape preventing her from speaking.

"You knew what you were doing." Sally was cold, calm, calculated. She had to make an example of traitors like Jill.

I knew I couldn't rely on that police protection! Jill thought.

In a swift motion, Sally tore the tape from Jill's face, causing no small amount of pain.

"Speak. Why did you do it?!"

Jill had been Sally's 'best friend' since they had grown up together. Of course, it was difficult for a pretty and popular girl to have any real friends, owing to the innate competition and various social factors, but Sally had thought Jill was different. After all, Jill was still quite pretty, smart, and popular at the school.

Jill ignored the pain, and spoke righteously.

"I'll never tell! You'll never know!"

She then began to laugh in a manic manner.

Ha aha haha ahahahahahahaahahaha !!!!!

Jill was crying from laughter, since Sally had began her methods of information extraction.

Tickling!

There was a soft feather gently caressing Jill's feet, moreover having grown up together, Sally knew all of Jill's weak spots.

"Haahahahahahahaha - Ahhhhghhhh Okay ahahahahahahahaaha ahaha aokay I'll tell you, please stop!!!!!!!!!!!"

Jill shrieked unable to withstand the power of Sally's methods.

Sally stopped for a moment and raised an eyebrow bracing for the reveal.

___

"Oh come on!"

"This cliffhanger is bullsh**",

"I don't even care. I was gonna leave a 5 star review, but now I think this is a stupid book. Dropped."

The readers exclaimed in unison and annoyance.

Fortunately, author knew this is what would happen if cliffhangers were exploited in a shameless manner, so he urged Jill and Sally to hurry up.

___

"You're just too perfect, Sal."

Jill sighed and said it.

"We can't compete. You're sucking the life out of our school. Noone's good enough for you anymore. You saw what happened to Jake" she waved her hand dismissively, since Jake wasn't that big a deal anyway, but there were no more examples to draw from since the author hadn't written any other ones.

Sally dropped the feather with a limp hand.

Tears filled her eyes.

"I can't help being hot, Jill! It's not easy being a girl, you know that!"

Jill nodded in sympathy, but her eyes and resolve hardened. These were words she had to say.

"We had to draw you away somehow, either get rid of you, or melt the ice, so that the rest of the girls could just be normal and have normal high school lives."

"Wait, what did you have in mind?"

Jill began to recount how they had searched for a solution online, and Siri on her mother's J-phone had connected them to a certain Reverend Eli, who said he would be happy to deal with the Ice Queen issue.

But it would cost them.

$59.95 to be precise + Tax.

Luckily, the girls had pooled their money together from selling chocolate bars at the last girls scout event, and were able to come up with the sum.

Reverend Eli specialised in some kind of Fire Magic apparently, and possibly he would be able to thaw the Ice Queen once and for all.

To the girls, driven to desperation, it was worth a shot.
