Chapter 39 - Moving Out

Alaric, after signing the paper, was now the proud owner of the property.

All he needed to do now was move in to his new home.

He would have to buy a couple things to move in. The house was pretty far away from the city, or any town, so he would have to buy a decent amount of supplies.

Like he previously said, he would try to stockpile his money and then do large sessions of selling.

His schedule would likely look something like this.

-First three weeks of the month stay at fishing place, fishing and gathering resources

-Last week of the month head back to the city, and stay at Cornelious' Inn

-Organize some kind of store / selling deal with a preexisting vendor

-Gather up money, and buy supplies for the month

-Return to fishing residence

This was only a vague plan of Alaric's, and he would likely shake it up based on the circumstances. But the central idea remained.

The biggest element that would weigh down on Alaric would be the loneliness. He had the rat ,but otherwise he wouldn't have much interaction.

He wasn't good enough friends with people, and the isolation had a utilitarian usage. Once he would have enough money, he would want to reach out to people to expand his operation. This would allow him to be more social.

Alaric had been lonely most of his life. He wanted to change that. Even with how much ambition that Alaric had, he knew that he wouldn't be able to do it alone.

Now, Alaric was going to go on a shopping spree for his house.

He went out in the city for the day to gather everything he would need. And in the afternoon he would head out to the house. It would be a long day, but Alaric realized that it would be awkward to return to Cornelious' inn, and he had a sense of loyalty to that inn.

Alaric first bought bait that he would need.

He bought

- A large supply of alcohol for the drunkard fish.

- More supplies for fishing up the fire fish

- Various used weapons for the shotgun

- Normal bait for fish to eat

He would also need some goods for basic life. He started with food.

He bought

- A large supply of dried food, including meats and fruits

- Various vegetables

- Salt and sugar

- Various other foods like bread and eggs. Some of it would go bad, but he tried to pick things that would have a lot of longevity

He also needed some home goods

The house came with some basic furniture, but he bought

- Blankets for warmth

- Soap to wash with

- A bucket

- A water bottle

- Storage chests

- Shovels, saws, and other work tools

- A nice big bag

Alaric was content with all he had bought. As he was young, he likely forgot something that was obvious that he needed to buy, but he would cross that bridge when he got there.

At this point, he was walking around the city very slowly. He had actually hired a carriage to carry all of his stuff down to the dock where his boat was stationed.

Alaric, thanking the driver slowly started transferring things onto the boat.

It would be a lot of stuff, and it would be a high burden, but the boat could handle it. Ignatius was strong. It would hold.

Unfortunately, there was one thing that Alaric was now lacking.

That was money. Alaric had spent every last charred of his wallet. He was at absolute zero. So now, he would have to fend for himself with no economic backing at his house.

This zero would now have to transfer itself into being a large positive number. That was the plan that Alaric was assured on.

Alaric sat in his boat. He did say hi to Matilda on his way in. And yes, he did hear the bell as he entered.

He would now set off on his new horizons for the start of his fishing empire.

Alaric sailed out into the twilight. There was not much light out, and it was a very poor idea to sail out a this time. Alaric was tired and was in no real shape to be sailing.

He passed the gate.

"Heading out for a while. Coming back in a month." Alaric said to the guard before the guard even said anything.

"You don't get a token. You just have to explain once you are back in." The guard explained. The guard also looked tired. They clearly didn't want to be there.

"Alright." Alaric responded, eyes half closed.

"You seem pretty tired. Are you in decent shape for sailing?" The guard said cautiously. They didn't want blood on their hands if Alaric were to die out in the ocean sleeping.

"Not really..." Alaric said.

"I have no money..." He said sadly. He wanted to somehow get a nights sleep out of this guy.

"Tie your boat to the bars, and come in here. Make sure your stuff is secured. You can sleep in the office bedroom." The guard explained.

Alaric felt like he had prejudged the guard too much. They seemed to be compassionate.

Alaric tied the boat to the cage bars, and then came through a locked door that the guard had unlocked.

He headed into the office, where sure enough there was a bed. Alaric after briefly touching the bed, promptly slept on the floor.

Alaric dreamed of fish.

All kinds of fish. Deadly fish, lovely fish. Fish of eternal life, fish of eternal death. Fish the size of mountains, fish the size of ants.

He felt immersed in the fish. His eyes were resting. The fish in his pupils swimming around the eyeball.

Alaric was truly a man of fish. He was destined to fish, and fish more. This would be the foundation of the empire he wanted to set up.

Now was the time of fish for Alaric.

The flow of eternal time would be overflowing with fish.
