Lexi dragged her first box up the stairs and instantly regretted her decision to pack so many suitcases. Six boxes. Six!
What had she been thinking?
And why didn't this massive building have an elevator?
She groaned in frustration as she trudged across the walkway connecting the buildings.
The dorm complex consisted of four sprawling structures, all exclusively for girls, while the guys' dorms were on the far side of campus.
It was quiet at first, too quiet, except for the occasional burst of laughter, raised voices from a quarrel, and... wait, was that moaning?
She swallowed hard, her face heating. Nope, it wasn't quiet at all.
Finally, she reached her assigned dorm room for the year: Room 45. She checked the key in her hand, her heart racing with anticipation.
Lexi took a deep breath, hoping her roommates would be nice. She imagined late-night study sessions, bonding over snacks, and maybe even becoming best friends, reading buddies, partners in crime, all of it.
She knocked on the door, her key proving useless since someone was clearly inside. After the sixth knock, her optimism was rapidly wearing thin.
Her temper flared as she considered the possibility of being ignored. Not exactly a great start to roommate bonding.
The door finally slid open, and Lexi's breath caught.
Standing in front of her was the breathtakingly gorgeous woman, tall, confident, and exuding an aura of effortless cool.
She took a long drag from her cigarette, blowing the smoke directly into Lexi's face with a cocky tilt of her head.
Before Lexi could recover, a pair of hands trailed up the woman's toned abs. Another impossibly beautiful girl, she looked like a supermodel or a TikTok influencer, peeked over her shoulder, biting her lip.
"Darling," the second girl drawled, her voice dripping with playful sarcasm, "did you order us a Barbie plaything?"
Lexi blinked, her face flushing bright red. She wasn't sure if she wanted to yell, laugh, or slam the door shut and pretend this wasn't happening.
