A plain, clouded in a snowy blizzard shows two figures looking at each other. One on the ground and one standing above the other with an axe in hand. The other figure slams the axe down on the other person killing them.
An alarm can be heard in the distance, a man stops the alarm and wakes up.
Another nightmare I hate having those. Oh I better hurry up or I'll be late.
The man heads to the bathroom and gets ready for the day and leaves his apartment.
My name in this life is Hajime Kodaka, I'm 23 and for the past 6 years I've been making a very popular manga. I have very much enjoyed this life and the manga I make is actually based on my last life when I was alive during the Norse period. People nowadays believe that those were all myths and legends but, I know that those legends were actually real. My normal routine is waking up and heading out to catch the subway then heading to the studio where I work on the manga storyboard then my coworkers draw the manga.
I arrived at the studio the same as always there. Waiting for me was my team, a tall lanky guy named Makoto and a smaller sized guy named Toya. These two have been with me since we started and today we start working on the final saga.
"Good to see ya Hajime." Makoto said.
"Hey we get to start working on the final saga today right?" Toya asked.
"Yup, let's get to work team." I said.
We all headed into the studio and got to work. I worked on the storyboard while Makoto and Toya went over concept art and details to add to the final production. Half through the day we have lunch we all just hangout in the office and talk. I warmed up some instant ramen and joined the others. Makoto had a lunchbox his wife made for him. Toya had a sandwich.
"I can't believe we're in the final saga now." Makoto said, stuffing his face.
"Yeah it's been a long, epic journey." I chimed in.
"Hey now remember we only got here because of Hajime and that brain of his. I mean when he first came, who would have thought we would be the number one manga for 6 years since we started undefeated." Toya stated with a happy expression.
"That reminds me, Hajime, did you finally come up with a name for the final arc?" Makoto asked.
"Oh yeah I'm thinking I will call it Ragnarok." I proposed my idea.
The others were lost in thought for awhile it was silent then all at once they both shouted,
"That's perfect!!!!"
We all eat our food talking about the final arc and then headed back to work. Later through the day our boss came over and introduced us to a new hire.
A normal looking man with a normal appearance was introduced to us, his name was Ren he was hired on to be an editor and translation team.
He went quietly over to his new assigned desk and started to get to work.
Something about the new hire bothered me. I could have sworn I've seen him before.
The end of the day approached and we all got our stuff together and headed out saying goodbye as we parted ways. I headed toward the subway when I noticed the new guy was following me.
No stop being paranoid you haven't once shown your power this time around your fine. He probably just has to take the same train as me.
I arrived at the subway and got on the train carefully looking I saw the new guy get on the same train. I waited nervously for my stop. I got off the train but the new guy also got off. I walked towards my apartment building and the new guy was still following behind me. I arrived at my building and quickly used my keycard to get in and ran as fast as I could past the gate. The gate closed and I headed to my room. As I arrived at my door there in front was the new guy.
"Hey. I wanted to talk about some of the words you used to describe some characters." Ren said.
"Oh we could have done this at the office." I said.
"I know but I'm a huge fan of your manga and just had to ask where you got your inspiration from." Ren answered.
Oh he's just a big fan of course I was really worried for no reason.
"Yeah that's fine let's go then." I said as I opened my door and we headed inside.
"Did you want something to drink?" I offered.
"Yeah ill take some coffee. If that's alright?" Ren asked.
"Yeah no problem." I started the coffee maker and then headed down at the table across from Ren.
"So what did you want to know Ren?" I asked.
"Not much really, just where did you get the idea to call the enemy faction's soldiers Creator Generals?" Ren asked as he did, the coffee maker was ready screaming.
I froze in terror and fear. I didn't call them that, not in their language I wrote it in the ancient language. I slowly grabbed the coffee maker and started to pour the coffee into the cups.
"I didn't call them that Ren. What do you mean?" Just got to play it off maybe that language is still around he was hired to translate so maybe he just translated it.
I brought the cups to the table and set them down afterwards I took a seat.
"Oh I see it's just I translated it and that's what they were called." Ren said.
"I see I actually made up those so I didn't think anyone would translate that." I said.
"You made a whole language and you didn't even know it? That's quite the story." Ren said as he started to stand up fidgeting with his right hand.
"Yeah, I guess I'm pretty lucky." I said while nervously sipping my coffee.
"Ok I have acquired all I needed to get." Ren said.
Ren started to head for the door, opened it up and then stopped in the doorway. He slowly turned around and threw his right hand up.
I know that motion, no he found me. I gotta dodge quickly.
I jumped to the right, as I did a giant axe came splitting through where his arm was cutting and slicing everything in its path. The axe got stuck in the wall. I took my chance to run, I pushed Ren down as there was a chain connected to his axe and made my way to the roof. I ran as fast as I could up the stairs till I finally reached the roof. I ran to the center of the roof and looked up and put my hand into the air. Ren was behind me dragging his axe on the ground making an eerie noise.
"You're really gonna use your power here? If you do then you'll kill everyone here you know, But that's never stopped you before has it?" Ren informed me.
I was gonna split reality before he said. He's right, if I do use my power everyone on this planet will die. I guess then this is it I lived a pretty good life this time. Made it to 23 that's a new record if I remember correctly. At least Makoto and Toya will be alright. Ok I'm ready then.
Ren rushed me with the axe and just like my dream I had this morning he slammed it down slicing me in half.
"I'm sorry I couldn't let you live this life peacefully. The creators would never allow you to live any life."
The next day, This is a live news report as you can see the other night a huge earthquake was reported around 9:04pm last night and destroyed the building where young famous mangaka Hajime Kodaka lived. He was found earlier this morning and reported deceased at the impact of the earthquake. Fans all over the world are experiencing the greatest heartache along with his friends and family.
