Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

Noise from the people around is echoing everywhere. Students are busy talking with their friends, some doing their homework, and some are with their lovers. But as things cool, most are flexing their magic.

Magic! "Abracadabra!" normal people call it. But they don't call it magic here; instead, it's Magior, meaning things that can't be explained by normal people.

Everyone has a different explanation for things, like some people believe there's no miracle, just science and math. But those who can do Magior state differently. But even though they stand by different beliefs, they're still reuniting at one place—one school of science and magic: Willowdale.

"Mary! Mary! Earth to Mary Quinlan!" A snap from someone made me wake up from my imagination.

"Gosh, all I thought you died with your eyes open." It's my cousin Jad, with her girlfriend Harmony. Along with my girlfriends Micah and Reina.

"Is it now?" I ask in a sleepy voice.

"Hmm… What? Are you gonna hide in your closet again?" Jad said sarcastically.

"Nope, I have somewhere to go."

"How could you learn things when you're running away from it?" Micah interrupted.

"She's right. You always have this 'face your fear' attitude, but you yourself are running away from it. Nice!" Reina, as always, has this sarcastic side.

"Listen to them. I mean, look at me, I'm dumb, but still, I go to class."

"Don't compare me to you, Jad. But guys, relax, you won't notice I'm not there if you don't look for me. I'd rather sleep than be in a classroom doing things I don't even have interest in. Nor can I do any of it," I said as I stood up and grabbed my things. They followed me, and I accompanied them to the next class, but as always, I didn't want to.

"Mary, where are you heading anyway?" Jad curiously asked.

"Secret. I'll have somewhere to go. Let's just meet later at lunch."

"Whatever." Snob.

I love you, mother and father, but I'm never gonna follow your steps. Science and Magior? Pft. Maybe next life. Good thing I can't do any of it; it won't feel any less even if I don't attend class. Well, it's not that I would fail, because I still comply. Jad and my friends help me through it. Science is the only subject I don't attend regularly. The rest, I'm in, and I guess the teachers already know I don't like science and instead of pushing me to like they tolerated it they knew I can't do what other student can.

Ever since I born they expected me to follow my parents footsteps, but after I reach age I don't have the abilities no ring and whatsoever. So here I am avoiding the life everyone expected me to be.
