Elena's POV
Eleanor's smile was cold. "Well, well. What a surprise."
Victoria scoffed and rolled her eyes at me. "If it isn't the miss wannabe Socialite. Alexander can't be serious.
"I'm very serious"
Just then I saw Alexander was already here walking in like he owned the Store. His expression didn't waver as he met his mother's gaze.
Eleanor let out a sharp laugh. "Darling, this joke has gone on long enough."
Alexander took a step closer. "I told you before and I will say it again. It's not a joke and I'm very serious about this."
Victoria looked furious.
Alexander ignored her, completely shifting his attention to Victor. "I have called my receptionist to send the announcement news to a major newspaper so we need to start planning the Dinner. We also need reporters there.
Eleanor's eyes flashed. "Alexander–"
"You'll be at the announcement dinner,"he continued, cutting her off. "And you bring your pest with you."
Victoria's mouth dropped open. "Excuse me?!"
"You heard me."
The room tensed as Eleanor and Alexander locked eyes. A silent war.
Then, with an exasperated sigh, Eleanor shifted her gaze. "Fine," she said smoothly. "But don't expect me to pretend to be happy about this engagement."
"I don't expect anything from you, mother."
Without another word, she turned and walked out. Victoria followed her.
Alexander dismissed Victor then took me to my apartment like I wanted him to do ever since. He left afterwards. I wanted to say goodbye to this place, and also talk to Ryan.
I was about to open the door before my phone rang.
Sophie.
I hesitated before picking up.
"Lena," She practically yelled. "WHAT THE HELL I'M I SEEING ON THE NEWS?!"
