Chapter 28 - Branch Mine

In the days that followed, Galen would wake up early to warm up, eat breakfast, and then head to the camp to train with the brothers of the Scarlet Flame Army. In the evening, he would return and connect his mind to the base.

At this moment, the base had already gotten on the right track. All kinds of resources had kept up with the consumption generated by the training troops. With the resources to spare, Galen was also constantly increasing the number of farms.

During this time, Galen also discovered other abilities of the farmers, such as being able to build buildings that were not affiliated with the Heart of Origin, such as a granary behind the town hall, and the city walls that were being built around the base.

Neither the granary nor the city walls were buildings on the Heart of Origin base list. It was the militia captain Cliff who suggested to Galen that the wheat from the farms was piling up like mountains and that a granary could be built to store the grain.

For this reason, Galen was particularly surprised and also asked Cliff if he had any other abilities. Cliff's answer opened the door to a new world for Galen.

The farmers were miners, lumberjacks, grain collectors, and also construction workers. Therefore, in addition to the buildings on the base list, as long as there were blueprints and someone to direct them, they could build the buildings.

So Galen found the blueprints for the Stromgarde granary. Under Cliff's direction, the felled wood did not enter the lumber yard, but piled up behind the town hall. Several farmers began to build the granary.

Later, Galen had a brainstorm and wanted to build a city wall around the base. So he deployed a watchtower every ten meters, and then had Cliff prepare the stones collected from the mine to build a stone wall, connecting the watchtowers together.

A small base fortress appeared in this way.

For this reason, Galen specifically sent Archmage Gandalf back to the base to have him lead troops to capture the wild highlands horses around the base and manufacture trucks. When he set off to the Southeast Mine, the base would also send a construction team composed of farmers. In addition to building a new town hall to serve as a branch mine, they could also build city walls.

Originally, Galen was going to recruit workers to build the city walls. After the completion, they would withdraw, and then the farmers of the base would enter to build the town hall. Now, there was no need. All the work was handled by the base farmers. When the time came, Gandalf would lead troops to patrol and surround the construction site, so there was no need to worry about anyone discovering the abnormality of building the town hall.

At this moment, Galen had a bold idea. He didn't need to wait until he inherited the throne to meet the condition in the Altar of Kings: the path of kingship, ruling a city with a population of over 10,000.

If there was no city, he would build it himself. If there was no population, he would train them at the base and the army would plunder. The more people there were, the higher the bonus the Altar of Kings would give him.

After this, Galen felt that the wait was a bit long.

Finally, after a week, a convoy came from the west along the Royal Road.

This was a team of a dozen carriages, escorted by a team of nearly two hundred people. The wheels pressed on the bluestone of the Royal Road, making a creaking sound.

Until the convoy stopped at the manor's entrance, Viscount Carson came over to tell Galen that the gold coins had been raised and delivered.

Galen came to the manor's entrance with excitement and saw this heavily guarded convoy.

At Viscount Carson's signal, a guard opened one of the many boxes on a carriage. The moment the box was opened, it seemed to shine with dazzling golden light.

In fact, it was just the sunlight reflecting off a box full of gold coins.

"Your Highness, these are the gold coins that our three families have accumulated over the years. Please check them."

In the human kingdom, and even among the various races of Azeroth, gold coins were not the most widely circulated currency. On the contrary, gold was a rare and valuable item everywhere.

People mostly used copper coins or silver coins as daily currency. Only large commodity transactions would involve a large number of gold coins, such as mages buying experimental materials, selling magic items, and trade between countries. More often than not, gold coins were only placed in the family vaults of nobles, waiting for the day to be used.

One hundred thousand gold coins was close to a year's tax revenue for the kingdom's treasury.

"These enviable big shots."

Galen was dazzled by the gold coins. As a prince, he had never experienced the life of a noble who spent money like water.

In fact, such a noble life was only what he imagined. If noble children were so prodigal, they would not be far from decline and would not be able to pass on for several generations.

"There's no need to count them. I trust Uncle Carson, Teacher Dabyrie, and Viscount Newall very much."

"Thank you for your trust, Your Highness. How do you want to handle these gold coins?"

"Please help me move the gold coins into my barracks, Viscount Carson."

"No problem, Your Highness." Carson turned and instructed the convoy leader, "Miley, take the convoy into His Highness the Prince's camp."

After taking the convoy into the camp, Viscount Carson's men withdrew, and Galen said goodbye to Viscount Carson.

"Uncle Carson, thank you for taking care of me these days. Now that the gold coins have been handed over, I'm ready to set off for the Southeast Mine."

Carson didn't try to keep him at all, and directly told Galen: "Your Highness, I have gathered manpower in my territory these days. The equipment will be in place tomorrow and we will set off."

Viscount Carson paused for a moment, and then said: "Viscount Newall's territory is in the westernmost part of the kingdom and is already on the way. Earl Dabyrie has already led the team to the Southeast Mine in advance to do the initial exploration and camp construction."

Galen was surprised by their efficiency, but it was not surprising. The sooner they started work, the sooner they would have output, otherwise they would be letting down that convoy of shiny gold coins.

After saying goodbye to Viscount Carson, Galen had Omar assemble the team and prepare to set off. Galen arranged for the convoy to be guarded by the three hundred guards brought by Gandalf.

On the other side, at the base, Gandalf also received Galen's mental link and began to prepare for the gathering of farmers, preparing to dispatch nearly three hundred farmers to wait for orders and go to the north to open a branch mine.

Before departing, Galen released a royal falcon to tell Danath of Go'shek Farm about his itinerary and some plans, while hoping that he would help pay attention to the movements of the trolls in Darkwood Village.

The reason why Galen and the several noble families chose this time was because the troll master level officials in Darkwood Village had already passed through the Alterac Mountains to Shadra'Alor, the main camp of the Revantusk tribe in Hinterlands, to participate in the grand ceremony of the spider loa Shadra.

By taking advantage of the time difference of the trolls coming and going, they would step up the construction of fortifications, gain a firm foothold, and block Darkwood Village from the south and north by joining forces with the militia led by Danath in Go'shek Farm.

Galen had already told his father about his plan and had obtained his permission, and had given Danath the right to act according to the circumstances.

It was precisely because of the king's permission that the three great noble lords would be so actively contributing people, money, and effort, not just for the three times profit of the mine.
