Chapter 56 - Surrender

Looking at the box full of brand-new candles before him, Nibnob felt tempted and wanted to steal them.

Galen already used the stick, it was time to show the carrot.

Nibnob didn't have much time left, and he didn't dare hesitate for too long. He quickly made a choice.

"Great King, spare me! We choose to submit, submit to the Great King."

After all, surrender not only meant survival, but also the continuation of the Whisker Tribe. The worst-case scenario was becoming slaves, which was commonplace in the history of the Kobolds.

Hearing the Kobolds choose to surrender, Galen was overjoyed, but this Goblin language was even more unpleasant than his own.

"What is your name? Are you the leader of the Whisker Tribe?"

Nibnob's body stopped trembling. Since he had already chosen to surrender, he would accept his fate with equanimity.

"Great King, my name is Nibnob, and I am the leader of this tribe. Great King, do you need the Whisker Tribe to be slaves? Awoo!"

After saying this, Nibnob seemed to have Let go of the burden in your heart, He was timid, but that was the nature of the Kobolds. As a leader, he still had the responsibility of a leader.

"Address me as Your Highness."

"I don't need you to be slaves. If you choose to submit, then I will treat you as my people. I will hire you to help me mine."

"In return, I will provide protection for your tribe, and no one can bully you. At the same time, I will provide your tribe with food and candles."

Such conditions were already very favorable for the Kobolds. Nibnob and the elders behind him who could understand Goblin language all raised their heads in surprise, their astonishment filled with joy.

Galen understood their feelings from their dog-like faces and poured a bucket of cold water on them: "In order to ensure your loyalty, I will cast a enslavement spell on you. If you choose to betray me, you know the consequences!"

After Galen finished speaking, he turned his head and weakly asked Gandalf in human language: "Gandalf, can you use enslavement magic or something like that?"

Gandalf replied to Galen righteously: "Your Highness, enslavement magic is very inhumane!"

"So, you can't?" (bruh)

Looking at Galen's expression, as if he had finally stumped him, Gandalf rolled his eyes: "This old man has some knowledge of it. I understand a thing or two!"

"Then I'll have to trouble you later. All the Kobold leaders and chieftains must be controlled."

After finishing his communication with Gandalf, Galen continued to question the Kobolds: "How many people are in your tribe? Where are they hiding?"

"The tribesmen are hiding in the deepest shelter. I haven't calculated how many there are. We have a total of twenty-four clan chieftains, but now there are only nine left behind me."

"Go, have your men gather the living tribesmen to the canyon entrance. There are still some Kobolds in the tunnel who were knocked unconscious by us. Go wake them up."

"You, come out with us. Also, bring the treasures of your tribe. Now they belong to me!"

After saying this, Galen and his group stared at the Kobold leader with an air that said, 'If you dare say no, I'll chop off your dog head immediately.'

It was a pity that Varrokal wasn't here, otherwise he would definitely cooperate with Galen and let out a sinister laugh. As for the four beside him...

A bunch of old fogeys!

Boring!

The Kobold leader only had adept strength, and at best could only be considered an elite monster who had just entered the high-level. Being watched by a group of people whose strength far exceeded his, the Kobold leader's head, which had just been raised, was once again Lying on the ground, and he didn't dare to move.

Galen signaled everyone to withdraw their aura. The Kobold breathed a sigh of relief. Between life and treasure, he chose to live.

"Yes, Your Highness."

"Very good, get up. Let your men set off and bring all the tribesmen to the cave entrance to gather."

The Kobold leader, who had stood up, waved his hand, and the nine chieftains behind him scattered in all directions in a swarm.

Accompanied by Aragorn, Galen walked to the boxes that the kobolds had just moved.

There were a total of a dozen or so boxes of various sizes. Aragorn opened the lids one by one to check. Galen glanced at them roughly. Some of them were jewelry, and some were weapons, daggers, longswords, and the like, but they didn't seem to be of high quality.

Most of the rest were gold coins. Judging from the style, they were not the new gold coins currently used in Stromgarde. They should have been minted during the Arathi Empire and were quite old.

There were too few. It shouldn't be. Galen turned around and asked the Kobold leader: "Is this all?"

The Kobold leader didn't dare to hide anything and truthfully replied to Galen: "Your Highness, this is where I live. I brought some shiny treasures in here to collect, and there are still many ores in our treasure cave."

"Let's go, take a look. Lead the way."

After Galen collected these dozen boxes, the Kobold obediently led the way into the tunnel, with Aragorn following closely behind him.

The Whisker Tribe's treasure cave was not far from the cavern just now. It was a cave that the Kobolds had dug out.

Galen looked at it. It was densely packed with ores, mostly gold ore, and a small amount of copper ore.

It seemed that the Whisker Mine was a rich gold mine, unlike the Southeast Mining Area, which was a copper mining area, with only a small amount of gold and some rare metals.

After having Gandalf mark this place, the group prepared to teleport back, while Karlru was arranged to continue exploring the mine and drawing maps.

Originally, Galen wanted to ask the Kobold leader for a map of the mine's distribution, but who knew that they didn't have one and relied entirely on their own memory to walk through the mine.

Whisker Canyon, a flash of white light, and four people and one Kobold appeared.

A group of Kobolds were surrounded at the foot of the mountain wall. They were originally dejected, but when they saw their leader among the people who appeared, they caused a commotion, but it was quickly suppressed by the Scarlet Flame Legion.

"Nibnob, go and appease your tribesmen."

Since the Kobold leader had already surrendered, then give him some more freedom. Even if he had any other thoughts, surrounded by thousands of Scarlet Flame Legion soldiers, he wouldn't be able to stir up any trouble.

Galen found Omar and asked him to send a signal to have the exploration team return to avoid conflicts with the Kobolds who came out.

At noon, the Kobold chieftains finally gathered all the Kobolds in the mine. The Scarlet Flame Legion's logistics team distributed the food that had been prepared long ago to each Kobold, and with the cooperation of their leader's appeasement, they quickly accepted the fact that their tribe had become Galen's vassal.

According to Omar's statistics, the Kobolds mobilized three thousand young and strong in this battle. The Scarlet Flame Legion initially dispatched Aragorn's thousand-man team, and finally Omar and Fadil's two thousand-man teams launched a fatal blow.

The Scarlet Flame Legion had zero casualties, a complete victory.

The Whisker Tribe suffered nearly half casualties, and more than a thousand fled with the leader. Those who remained on the battlefield, the injured were basically rescued, including those with missing arms and legs.

The seriously injured who died, plus those who were killed on the spot, totaled more than four hundred.

The process of subduing the Whisker Kobolds went very smoothly. The leader took the lead in surrendering, and the most powerful chieftains under his command also surrendered. The upper echelons of the tribe with the most say surrendered, and it was useless for the ordinary Kobolds below to have opinions.

Another point was that the four hundred or so Kobolds who died were the most ferocious batch, and they usually lorded it over the tribe and were unpopular. Their deaths did not cause too much hatred.

The last point was that Galen did not treat them as slaves. On the contrary, he provided them with good food and drink, and regularly provided candles.

With such generous conditions, they were only asked to do the work they originally liked, as long as they regularly paid tribute to the ore.

Less work, more money, and close to home. Only a fool wouldn't do it!
