I ran as fast as my feet could take me. I
have never been so scared of my life and I couldn't care less that I was
getting stares from other servants and I could hear them murmuring on why I am
still alive.
I got to the kitchen and reported that I
was done with my work and asked if I could be excused to retire and before I
finished my statement she yelled at me and asked me to get ready to serve
lunch.
And here I am thinking that I have escaped
death.
I was clearing out the dishes with another
servant and I could feel how she was so terrified of me.
"I don't bite you know" I said to her
trying to start a conversation.
"I know you don't, I am just minding my
business" she replied.
"I am Celeste and you?"
" I am Sammie"
"Nice to meet you Sammie now can you tell
me why you are scared of me"
"Everyone is. Nobody knows why you are
still alive, I mean don't get me wrong
but you were meant to be a meal"
"Ohh that, it's a long story but I am no
different than you are I was just lucky"
"If you say so, by the way I thought you
were the newest member of the family why are you here"
"I tried to escape from here and I don't
know who caught me but Darcy said this is my punishment"
"Hmm, I don't think you understand what it
means to be a servant here this is no punishment this is a death trap and once
a servant will always be a servant till death"
We would have talked more but we were interrupted
by a servant who came to inform us that we were asked to join them in the
kitchen.
It was time to serve lunch and of course I
was asked to join and serve lunch. This time around it was just Lucian and
Amelia and I could already see how the lunch was going to be hard for me.
"Well if it isn't the gold digger" I heard
Amelia mocking.
"Watch your mouth Amelia or mother will do
so for you"Lucian said but was happy that Celeste was serving him lunch.
" she is not here so spare me the drama"
Amelia said and then turned to Celeste and asked her to get her a fresh warm
blood.
Celeste was confused and was about to ask
from where when Amelia cut her off
"If you can't provide it then I should suck
it from you. But, I can't drink from a poisonous servant like you" she spat.
I rushed to the kitchen and asked the chef
where am to get fresh warm blood and she handed me a glass and turned around
immediately.
"Don't worry I will give it to you" I heard
Sammie said from the kitchen door.
"Oh thanks very much you are a life saver"
She slitted her wrist with a knife and
filled the glass with blood and asked me to run and serve it fast before it
gets cold. I got to the dinner hall and gave it to Amelia then she drank it and
spat it out on my face.
"I thought as much, it tastes as bad as she looks" Amelia said pouring the remaining
blood on the floor.
"Clean this up and get out of sight "
I cleaned up the mess and went back to the
kitchen to join them for lunch. I saw some of the servants who served me meal when
I was at my quarters there and their stares would have left an imprint on my body
of stares were like that. I asked Sammie about the lady that initially assigned
me to serve breakfast and she said her name was Lucy and she used to sleep with
Darcy before.
"No wonder the unnecessary hate "I said and
then we both laughed about it.
"Speak of the devil" Sammie whispered into
my ear.
Lucy walked in and pointed at me to go and
serve Darcy his meal. Funny how she just wants me to die today. I took the meal
she gave me and took it to Darcy's room. I knocked for a while and thought
nobody was in and then decided to just go in and drop it then leave
immediately.
"Who asked you to come in "I heard a voice saying
from wherever he was.
"I thought you weren't in here" I said
almost as a whisper.
"Keep it on the table and wait till I am
done"
I did as I was told and stood for hours
until I saw him walking out of the darkness to the table. He uncovered the meal
and asked why I was serving him his meal instead of Lucy.
"She assigned me to do it today as she
might be busy" I answered as sincere as possible.
He took a bite and looked at me then he
chuckled and kept on eating till it was almost empty.
"Why are you staring at me. Surprised that
your poison has no effect on me huh?" I heard him say and I was shocked.
"Poison? I didn't serve you poison"
"I'm sure you didn't now come and have a
bite "
Scared that there might actually be poison in
his meal I moved back.
"I am full" I said and then realized how
stupid it sounds.
" what do you take me for? It seems you
didn't do your research well now I am going to teach you a lesson that you
would prefer dying" Darcy said and called on two guards to take me to the
dungeon.
"I swear I don't know anything about the
poison please spare me " I pleaded but he was no longer there and the guards
dragged me to the dirtiest dungeon ever.
