Chapter 17 - Chapter 16

When she heard that, the man stepped forward and said, "I'll write it on a piece of paper. Just copy it, then press your fingerprint. Okay?"

"Alright."

Sienna picked up the pen and wrote a big "Sienna" on the agreement paper. Then she broke free from the restraints, walked forward, and slapped the man hard across the face. After that, she folded the agreement paper and put it into her pocket.

After putting it away, she walked forward and kicked the man. She immediately grabbed his head and slammed it against the wall. "An agreement? Jail time? Why should I go to jail for hurting criminals? If that's the case, then what's the point of having police and soldiers?"

The other person in the room tried to sneak out. He knew he couldn't fight her. But Sienna didn't give him the chance. She pulled a pen from her pocket and threw it right past his face. "Try moving."

"I won't move. I swear I won't." He sat down quietly.

When she saw that he behaved, Sienna turned back to the man she was holding. She threw him against the wall and kicked him again. "I was getting rid of dangerous people. They kidnapped so many, and you want to let them go? You even said you were once a soldier. Don't insult what that title means. That's supposed to be sacred, and now you've dirtied it."

She felt better after the beating, but the man was in bad shape. He had passed out, woken up, and passed out again from the pain. When she saw he was almost done, Sienna turned to the other man. "Take me to your chief's office."

"Okay, I'll take you."

Sienna dragged the man as she followed behind him. On their way out, some police officers tried to stop her, but they backed off when they saw the sharp look in her eyes. The man in front also signaled them not to interfere, so they all just watched.

Soon, they arrived. "This is the chief's office."

Just as he was about to knock, Sienna didn't wait. She raised her foot and kicked the door open. Inside, a serious-looking middle-aged man sat behind a desk.

Sienna looked carefully. This guy didn't seem like someone who couldn't tell right from wrong. He had a righteous air around him. Could it be fake? Was he just good at pretending?

"You, young lady. What are you doing barging into my office? Do you know this is the police station, not a place you can run around in?"

Then he turned to the man who brought her. "Xiao Lu, what's going on?"

"Chief..."

Seeing him stammer, the chief became angry. "Zheng Lu, you're a police officer, once a soldier. Don't act like some shy little girl. What's with you? Can't even speak properly?"

Sienna looked at him and said, "Don't ask him. I'll tell you. Your station needs a whole new team. Look at him. Totally useless. He's just taking up someone else's spot."

The chief glanced at Xiao Lu and then told him to leave. "You go out first."

After he left, Sienna threw the man she was dragging aside and spoke. "Has your police station lost all sense of justice? Do you even know what happened today?"

"I do."

"Then what do you think about the people involved? Do you understand who they are?"

"Miss, this isn't something you should be asking. This is a matter for the police."

"So, Chief, you're not planning to talk anymore?"

The chief looked at the officer lying on the ground, now unrecognizable from the beating. "We'll talk. The case is still under investigation and hasn't been reported to me yet, but I do know two military wives are involved. The military has already called."

"Really? Then you're not much of a chief. Judging by your looks, you're probably a retired soldier too."

"I am."

"Then why are you keeping these pests in the police station?" she asked while pointing at the people on the ground.

"I really opened my eyes at your police station today. I'm the one who got kidnapped, and after I injured the kidnappers, I'm being accused of intentional harm and might go to jail. Why don't you just help them sell us off too?"

The chief was shocked after hearing that. He looked at the badly beaten officer on the ground, then looked at Sienna. "Evidence?"

Sienna pulled out the letter of forgiveness from her bag and slapped it onto the chief's desk. "Take a look."

After reading it, the chief got angry. "I'll give you an explanation for this. This man will be fired. But you beating someone like that is still wrong. That's considered attacking a police officer."

When he said that, a sharp glint flashed in Sienna's eyes. She stepped forward and slapped the table in front of the chief, breaking it in half. Before he could react, she kicked the table again, smashing it into pieces.

"I have a bad temper. Your officer tried to make me take the blame for something I didn't do. If I agreed, it would help the kidnappers escape punishment, and I might even go to jail."

"So what if I beat him? I didn't kill him. I showed respect for his uniform. If he weren't wearing that police uniform, you'd be collecting his body right now."

The chief looked at the bold and fierce woman in front of him and didn't know what to say. Normally, he should be angry, but everything she said was true. If he were in her place and someone tried to kidnap him, he would've beaten them up too.

"Alright, I'm sorry. I'll send someone trustworthy to investigate this. Don't worry, no bad person will be let go."

"You should start by checking your own officers. They're supposed to serve the people, but what they did is disgusting. If there are more like them, regular folks don't stand a chance. He even knew I'm a military wife. If they dare cheat a soldier's family, they'll be even worse to others."

"I…"

He didn't finish his sentence when someone came in. "Chief Gao."

The newcomer looked at the mess in the office—broken pieces of wood everywhere and a half-dead man on the floor.

"What happened here? Sienna, you're here? Are you alright?"

"I'm fine."

"That's good. Where's Meilin?"

"Uh…"

Sienna had forgotten about her. Seeing her face, Wu Wen understood right away. The scene looked like the chief was the one getting in trouble.

"You go find Meilin. I'll talk with the chief."

"Okay."

After Sienna left the room, the chief said, "Old Wu, whose wife is she? Which brave soul married her? Look at my office. She's so fierce and doesn't care about causing trouble."

He pointed at the man on the floor. "See him? She beat him too. She even kicked my door and scared one officer so badly he couldn't talk straight."

"She's like a wild tigress. Are you sure your unit can handle her? Are you sure she won't cause chaos?"

Wu Wen replied, "She's Rowan's wife. His mom picked her. They just got married. She recently joined the base and hasn't caused any trouble so far."
