Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Solving the Problem

Link tilted his head to the side, narrowly dodging a flying chicken leg bone.

That chicken leg bone spun through the air and landed in the soup bowl of a student sitting across from him, splashing soup all over the surrounding people.

The situation over there immediately became chaotic, but Link turned to look in the direction from where the bone had flown.

From that direction, two tall Hufflepuff students were looking at him with mocking faces.

"Oh! So sorry! I accidentally threw the bone out!"

One of the boys said words of apology, but the mockery on his face was even more obvious. As he spoke, he even made a throat-slitting gesture as a mocking move.

After doing that gesture, the two of them burst into loud laughter.

Their movements weren't big, but the commotion they caused was not small either. The students nearby had already noticed what was happening.

But no one came forward to scold those people. Even the ones splashed with soup were the same, they only glanced at them, then continued to bow their heads and enjoy dinner.

Link's expression, however, was full of helplessness.

He knew who the other party was, among them, the one who didn't speak but sat on the side making funny faces was the same guy who had threatened him earlier that afternoon.

Clearly, the other party was carrying out his revenge in a prank-like manner.

Link wasn't angry, after all, such means were honestly too childish.

He was just a bit annoyed. He had already encountered enough irritating things today. Originally, since no one paid him much attention, he could quietly and calmly gather information about this world and study those magical spells.

To be fair, as an ordinary person, he was very interested in this supernatural world. But at this time, the other party insisted on being like a fly, buzzing nonstop in his ear.

Link knew very well that this was just the beginning. Judging by the opponent's personality and intelligence shown so far, if he didn't do something, then this kind of childish prank would definitely keep happening in the future.

This would undoubtedly distract him greatly and reduce the efficiency of gathering information and learning spells. And that was something Link could not accept.

Therefore, Link had to take action.

"Kill him! Let me kill him! Then eat him!"

Just at that moment, a hoarse and muffled voice came from within the wall behind Link.

Upon hearing this, Link raised his eyebrows. From reading the original diary, he had already learned a bit about the basilisk's behavior pattern, so he immediately realized that this was the basilisk speaking to him.

Link's brain instantly began thinking rapidly. 'Would letting the basilisk deal with those two annoying guys be a good idea?'

The moment this thought came up, Link denied it. The risk was far too great. If anything went wrong, not only would the basilisk be exposed, but even Link's Parseltongue ability would get dragged into it.

So Link gently shook his head and spoke, "No need. I can handle it myself. You don't need to act."

"…Fine. As you wish."

That hoarse, muffled voice gradually faded into the distance, that was the basilisk leaving.

Link let out a sigh of relief. Only then did he notice that the students who had originally sat on either side of him had long since escaped. One by one, they huddled at a distance, looking at Link with faces full of fear.

Just now, the sound Link made had almost made them think they were about to be killed.

Link didn't pay much attention to them. Instead, he stood up and expressionlessly walked over to the two Hufflepuff boys.

The two boys were clearly also frightened by the Parseltongue Link had just spoken. Their bodies were trembling slightly at this moment. But for the sake of saving face, they didn't run away and instead sat there nervously, watching Link.

"You… what do you want to do? Little Death Eater!"

One of the boys gasped and said this, maybe to bolster his courage, he even added an insulting term at the end. But even so, it couldn't give them more courage.

Link's face showed no change in expression at all. He casually picked up a dining fork beside him, then suddenly stabbed it down under the terrified gazes of the two.

Bang!

With a dull sound, the fork was forcefully stabbed into a roasted chicken on the table in front of them. The strength Link used was so great that even the plate cracked.

The two Hufflepuffs trembled even more violently. Their hands, which had been on the table, were now quickly pulled back.

Just now, for a moment, they really thought Link was aiming for their hands.

At this time, Link slowly raised his hand. Because of how hard he had stabbed, the bones in the roasted chicken had pierced his hand, and now bright red blood was dripping drop by drop from his palm.

But this little pain didn't shake Link's nerves at all. He still maintained his expressionless look and reached out his hand toward the boy who had thrown the bone earlier.

That boy had already been completely intimidated by Link at this point. He just stood there dumbly, not even thinking to dodge.

Link's hand easily brushed against the boy's cheek and wiped twice with some force, smearing his face into a bright red mess.

Then Link leaned in and, in a cold tone, softly said, "Do you want to die?"

The boy didn't answer, but his body trembled even harder.

At this moment, an awful stench of urine appeared in the air.

Link looked down and saw that the front of the boy's pants was already soaking wet.

'Did he… wet himself?'

The corners of Link's mouth couldn't help but lift. Then he raised his blood-stained hand and slapped the boy's face twice.

Smack! Smack!

The crisp sound seemed to awaken the stunned crowd around them. In an instant, sharp screams echoed throughout the entire hall.

Not long after, the professors who had still been eating at the faculty table pushed through the crowd and came over.

Leading them was a short, graceful gray-haired witch.

Link remembered her a bit and knew she should be Pomona Sprout, herbology professor at Hogwarts and Head of Hufflepuff House.

"Merlin's beard! Link! You're hurt? What happened?" Professor Sprout jogged over to Link, worry written all over her face as she grabbed his injured arm to inspect it.

"I'm sorry, Professor Sprout," Link now also put on a wronged expression. "I… I acted impulsively."

At this moment, the two people who had been scared witless by Link finally noticed Professor Sprout's arrival. Instantly, tears gushed from their eyes, and like they had found a pillar of support, they hugged Professor Sprout's legs, crying, "Professor! Link… he tried to kill us!"

Hearing this, Sprout's gaze toward the two immediately turned unfriendly. Of course, this wasn't because they had smeared her pants with snot and tears. It was because, as Hufflepuff's Head, she knew Link too well.

This child, who normally wouldn't even dare kill a garden gnome, how could he suddenly go crazy and try to kill someone?

No matter how you looked at it, this had to be the other party's fault.
