DECLAN'S POV
I had started the day with a new goal. To be nice to Miliani. I'd greet her when she walks in and not send her on any stupid errand as well, those were quite unnecessary and I could understand why she was always annoyed.
"Good morning Miliani" I said with a smile as she walked into the office.
I could see the surprise on her face. I had never called her Miliani before.
"G-good morning Declan" She said and went to her seat to sit down.
I loved it when she called my name.
I didn't bother her or send her on any unnecessary errand. I kept taking quick glances of her as I worked on my laptop. At first she was just laying down on her chair and then she started texting. I didn't think too much of it at first but then I heard her giggling and decided to look closer to see who she was texting.
At least I had enhanced vision, one thing to be happy about.
She was texting…. Andrew?
I got annoyed and called her.
"Peters, I need your help with something please"
She put her phone down almost immediately and walked up to my desk.
"I need these files sorted and delivered to the production team before 1pm. Did you schedule my meeting with our suppliers?"
"Yes, I did. The meeting is by 3pm and the insisted it be in their company"
"Those people.. Alright then. Thank you." I said as I continued the work on my laptop.
"Is that all? Nothing else?" She asked. I think she expected me to tell her to do something else.
"Yes, that's all. You should go get some food for yourself"
"Okay then…" She said and went to sort the files.
After about an hour she left to get food. I told my bodyguard, Rocco, to follow her and keep an eye on her.
He was giving me updates on her whereabouts.
'She's at a restaurant getting food sir and she's with Andrew'
My eyes darkened as I read through the text.
'Did she see you?'
'Yes, I think she did'
'Alright then, come back to the office'
'Alright boss'
I dropped my phone on the table, stood up and walked to the window. I clenched my jaws and fists in anger. She was always with him. I had to do something about him and fast. As I was still deep in thought I caught sight of them coming back to the office.
I waited for a while and I sensed them by the door. I got my phone and opened the door and there they were, embracing each other. Everywhere went dead silent when I opened the door. I stared down at Andrew like a predator cornering his prey.
"Good afternoon sir" He spoke up.
"Good afternoon." I replied coldly and turned to Miliani "Go inside and get your bag, we're going to meet the suppliers for the meeting."
"It's not even time yet, it's just 2pm"
I was already annoyed and her questioning me made it even worse.
"What did I say about questioning me?" I said raising my voice "Go inside and get your bag, I'll be waiting in the car" I said and turned to Andrew "Shouldn't you be in your office working?"
"I.. uh, yes. I'll go now, bye Milly" He said and left hurriedly.
Coward
I stared at Miliani for a few seconds and went to the car to wait for her. She joined in a few minutes later and the driver took us to the Supplier's company. The drive there only took about ten minutes but it felt longer than that. The silence made me feel uneasy and restless. She wouldn't even look at me.
Marcus was right.
But it wasn't my fault. I hated seeing them together. It ignited this deep anger in me.
We got to the company and had to wait inside the car till 3pm. I don't even know why I made us leave early. I just wanted to get her away from Andrew.
"You're seriously not going to say a word to me?" I asked and she just stared at me in annoyance.
It felt like she had a lot to say but she was holding back.
Just apologise to her Declan.
She wouldn't even look at me. As I was thinking of the right words to say to her she got out of the car and left.
Oh no you don't, Peters.
I got out of the car as well and called out to her but she didn't answer me. Before she could go into the company building, I held her hand and pulled her back to me. We stared at each other for what felt like hours but in reality it was just a few seconds. I could see her eyes glisten in the sun. It was heavenly.
I brought her closer to myself making us just inches away from each other. I leaned closer and into her ear to whisper to her.
"Don't you ever ignore me like that again, Peters"
"S-sorry sir-, I mean Declan"
I let out a deep sigh.
"I'm sorry for raising my voice at you. I was annoyed by something and took it out on you which I shouldn't have done and I'm sorry for that"
I could see her visibly surprised. She looked calmer and less angry which meant my apology got through to her.
"It's okay," She replied with a smile.
Her smile gave me butterflies.
I checked my watch and It was almost 3pm. We walked inside the building to have the meeting. After the long meeting we went back into the car. I told the driver to take us to a restaurant and not to the office.
"There's this other restaurant I discovered recently. They're food is to die for. Order anything you want and take it as an apology gift." I said and she smiled brightly.
We had a small conversation about our favorite types of foods while at the restaurant. It felt nice to spend time with her outside the office. Afetr eating we went back to the office to get our stuff and I dropped her home. I gave her a hug and apologised again for that day. She assured me that all was forgiven and went inside.
I felt my heart race as I went back into the car and drove home.
What are you doing to me, Miliani?
