VHRMMM!
Eve's silver car raced through the rain-slicked streets of New York, tires hissing over the pavement. Inside, Jack sat with Coco clutched tight in his arms, Rose beside him staring out the window.
"There!" Rose shouted, pointing. Through a narrow alley, she caught a flash of the black car—the King's car—speeding by.
"Hold on," Eve growled, spinning the wheel hard.
The tires screeched as the car swerved into the alley. "Let's cut him off!" Jack yelled, eyes locked on the map.
"If I do that, he'll hit my baby," Eve said, stroking the steering wheel.
Jack frowned. "Do you want to live or not? If you don't want him to hit you—hit him first."
Eve grinned. "You've got a good point."
She floored the gas, darting through backstreets, glancing at her GPS—tracking the golden KING dot on the map.
Jack braced himself and wrapped his arms tighter around Coco.
Then—BAM!
They burst from the alley and slammed into the black car at the next intersection.
CRREEERRR-BOOM!
Glass exploded into the air. Metal groaned. Airbags burst. Both cars came to a smoking halt.
Eve was the first to kick open her door. Rose staggered out next, coughing. Jack stumbled out last, clutching Coco, his heart pounding.
And there he was.
The King, already on his feet—smiling, brushing off his Tang-Top like it was all part of the plan.
Rage boiled in Jack's chest. That smile—mocking, like this was all just a joke to him.
The group gave chase through broken streets and twisted alleyways. Then—finally—the boy was cornered.
But instead of fear, the King just tilted his head and pulled something from his pocket:
A golden die.
He rolled it. "Let's make this interesting."
THOOM! Lightning Struck.
The die hit the pavement and rolled… landing on a glowing 5.
A deep rumble shook the ground.
CLAAAANG!
A massive anchor crashed down between the King and the group, cracking the street beneath it. The chain yanked upward—and with it, the King.
They looked up.
Above them, descending through the storm clouds, floated a massive pirate ship—wooden and ancient, yet glowing with unnatural energy. The King now stood proudly on its deck.
Next to him were pirates, each one armed and staring down.
"Should we fire the cannons, Captain?" one asked.
The King waved a hand. "No. Not yet. They have to learn the rules first."
Just then, a pop-up appeared in front of every member of the group—not gold like his, but red and silver:
The King has rolled: 5
Unlucky for the Residents.
Event: BATTLESHIPS
You've been hunting the King.
Now, you will be hunted.
The group gasped.
Suddenly, shadows fell over the entire city. Looking up, they saw not one—but two more pirate ships appear. The sky above New York was now littered with flying warships.
If someone could see from above, they'd realize: the entire state was under siege.
The pop-up continued:
Form your groups.
The King will now select one person per group threw out the state to act as the Chest.
A red diamond icon will appear above their head.
Protect the Chest.
If the Chest dies—the group dies.
