Love in the Last Breath
He never wanted her.
Forced into marriage with a girl he neither chose nor loved, he treated her with nothing but cold indifference. She was bound to him by a promise made long ago—her mother had saved his grandfather’s life, and in return, she was given to him. To him, it was nothing but an obligation. A chain.
She, however, loved him. Despite the cruelty, the distance, and the hatred in his eyes, she remained by his side, hoping that one day, he would see her—truly see her.
But love, no matter how strong, could not stop fate.
One fateful night, she was poisoned, left to die in the snow, her body broken, her blood staining the white ground. And for the first time, as he held her in his arms, his heart ached with a pain he had never known. Regret consumed him as he begged for a second chance, for time to reverse itself so he could right his wrongs.
With trembling hands, she reached for his face, her lips parting to whisper, "I love…" But before she could finish, the last breath left her body.
And he was left with nothing but her silence.
Now, with her gone, he is haunted by the love he never cherished, the warmth he never embraced, and the words she never got to say.
Was it too late for redemption? Or would her love, in the last breath, be enough to change him forever?
