Chapter 23 - something is wrong!!!

---

Y/N's POV

Kayden leaned in close, his breath warm against my ear. "You look beautiful tonight, Y/N," he whispered softly.

I turned to him, meeting his gentle gaze with a smile. "Thanks, Kayden, I—"

Before I could finish my sentence, I felt a firm grip on my left hand. I turned to see James squeezing it slightly, his brows furrowed together. He looked… irritated.

"Y/N, focus on the movie," he muttered, his voice laced with annoyance.

I glanced at him, confused. Does he not like Kayden? I wondered. But I nodded anyway. "Okay," I said with a small smile before returning my focus to the screen.

After a few minutes, I carefully pulled my hand away from James's grip. But when I tried to do the same with Kayden, he tightened his hold instead.

"Kayden, my palm is sweating," I whispered, hoping he'd let go.

He only chuckled, shaking his head. "I don't mind," he said with a cute smile before gripping my hand even tighter.

---

Once the movie ended, we stepped out of the theater, but before I could take another step, James grabbed my arm, pulling me aside. His girlfriend stood nearby, arms crossed, looking just as annoyed as him.

"Y/N, let's go. We're leaving," James said firmly.

I sighed, gently pulling my arm free. "No, James. Go with your girlfriend. I'm going with Kayden. Don't worry, okay?"

Something flashed in his eyes—hurt, maybe—but he quickly masked it with a small smile. "But I—" He stopped himself, exhaling before nodding. "Okay, fine. See you tomorrow."

Kayden appeared beside me, his usual playful smile in place. "Hey, Y/N. Let's go," he said, leading me toward his car.

Like a true gentleman, he opened the door for me. I slid in and buckled my seatbelt, watching as he got into the driver's seat. He started the car, turning on some soft music as we drove.

After a few moments of silence, Kayden spoke up. "Y/N, you know… I have a lot of buildings and apartments for my employees. Umm… why don't you move into one? You can pay rent if you want."

My eyes widened. "A-Ah, that would be nice, but… I'll have to think about it. Thanks, though," I stammered, caught off guard by his offer.

Kayden nodded, smiling. "Of course. And if you're looking for a job, let me know. I have a few openings in my office."

I laughed nervously. "O-Okay, okay. I'll think about it," I said quickly.

He chuckled at my reaction. Then, after a brief pause, he asked, "Y/N, can I ask you something?"

I looked at him. "Yeah, of course."

He hesitated before speaking. "Your friend… James. The way he looks at you, the way he protects you… I think he feels something for you."

I blinked. "James?"

Kayden nodded. "Yeah."

I shook my head. "No, Kayden. He's been with me for two or three years now, but he has a girlfriend. He's just protective, like an older brother."

Kayden studied me for a second before nodding slowly. "Ah… I see."

We arrived at my house, and he stopped the car. Before I could open the door, he quickly got out and walked over to my side, opening it for me.

I stepped out, looking at him.

"Y/N, can we meet again?" His voice was soft, hopeful.

I felt my face warm up. "Y-Yeah… Bye, Kayden," I said with a small wave before turning toward my house.

As I walked inside, I heard the sound of his car driving away. I locked the door behind me, changed into something comfortable, and made a quick meal. After eating, exhaustion hit me, and I climbed into bed, ignoring the strange feeling creeping up my spine.

Something felt… off.

But I was too tired to care.

---

At Midnight…

I was deep in sleep when I suddenly felt a shift on my bed. A cold touch traced over my stomach, sending shivers down my spine. Before I could react, I felt warm breath against my neck.

Then—

"Mmm… smells good," a deep voice whispered.

My eyes shot open.

There's someone in my bed.

Before I could scream, a hand clamped over my mouth.

"Shh… Don't scream, baby," the voice murmured. "I won't hurt you."

My entire body froze. I couldn't see his face—the room was too dark—but I could feel his presence looming over me. His legs tangled with mine as he flipped me onto my back, pinning my wrists above my head with one hand while the other remained firmly over my mouth.

"I said don't scream… or I'll kiss you hard," he warned.

I stiffened in shock, my breath hitching.

"Good girl," he whispered. "Now, I'm going to move my hand. Don't scream, okay? You know as well as I do that no one will come to help you."

Trembling, I nodded.

Slowly, he removed his hand from my mouth.

"Now, tell me…" he said, his voice sharp. "What are you doing with that guy?"

I swallowed hard. "L-Let me go… please…"

He chuckled darkly. "Don't be scared, love. Just answer me."

I clenched my fists. "Why do you even care? I can do whatever I want!" I snapped.

His grip tightened slightly. "I told you—"

"Can you just leave?" I interrupted, trying to move.

"Don't move… or, let me show you something" he whispered before pressing a soft kiss on my cheek.

I gasped. "A-AH! Don't kiss me! L-Leave me or—"

"Or what? Huh " he murmured before kissing my forehead.

I turned my head away, but he simply smirked.

"Here," he whispered, placing another kiss on my nose.

I whimpered. "S-Stop—"

"And here," he murmured before his lips brushed against my neck.

I shivered violently as a strange sensation spread through my stomach. My breathing became uneven.

"Stop…please" I pleaded weakly.

"And now???? My favourite place.....hmm " he whispered, his breath dangerously close to my lips.

Our bodies were so close, I could feel his heartbeat against mine—steady and strong, while mine raced wildly.

"You feel that?" he whispered, smirking. "Our hearts… beating together."

I swallowed hard, my breath hitching. "P-Please… let me go," I pleaded softly.

He tilted his head, his grip firm. "Why would I, when you're right where you belong?"

I shivered as he leaned in, his breath warm against my skin. "Don't move," he warned, voice low. "Or I might do something we won't forget."

Oh my God… Someone… please help me.
